When I was 14 years old I was delivering advertising flyers door to door and this huge German Shephard was banging up against the living room window trying to get at me, just as I was leaving the porch the little boy that lived there decided to open the door to get the flyer and the dog ran out of the house and charged me. It jumped at my throat but caught my hand in it's mouth and proceeded to chew and yank at my hand. I was terrified. There was nothing I could do but scream and scream and hope that someone would come and rescue me, thankfully after a couple of minutes the adult owner came out and got the dog off of me. My hand was pretty chewed up and I still have a small scar. Have you even been attacked by a dog, was it a big dog? Did the dog injur you? Were you terrified or was it just a nuisance?

Sounds like people need to take better care of locking up their pets.

Hello Ladym33, i wasnt actually attacked by a dog as such, however i was only around the age of 2 if i remember rightly from what i was told, and we was in a big wide open field in a massive park, well i hadn't been walking very long so wasn't great on my feet, however my mum has said that a big dog (don't know what breed) came bounding out of knowwhere wanting to play and it knocked me flying, shook me up a lot and my mum was beyond words she could describe with the owner...well anyway for years to come i was so scared of dogs i would jump in the road to get away or run even when i was with my parents, when i was around 11 years old my parents looked into getting a dog from a rescue home, he was very nice and playful, a lurcher in the family of greyhounds (spitting image of a greyhound only a big smaller) and we took him for walks for weeks, once the paper work was sorted we took him home, after about two months my fear of dogs ceased to exist, five, nearly six years later shilo is still with us and a great loving animal and i can't thank him enough for helping me. :)

That must have been terrifying! I have never personally been attacked by a dog, but I have seen my dog get attacked by a dog. I reacted in a very strange way. The dog came charging at m little Spiffy and I did the only thing I could think of. I lifted him off the ground. The only problem was, I lifted his chain up, essentially strangling him! I thought my husband was going to grab him on the way up, but he didn't have the same idea! So, as soon as I realized what was happening, I grabbed him in my own arms... which made the dog jump for him! Thankfully, the owners were right there and grabbed their dog! I didn't mean to strangle my little doggy, but it was all just natural reaction! The good thing is the dog never got my dog!

Hey sorry to know that buddy. Must be a real bad experience for you. I have never faced such a thing. It is very scary to be chased by a dog. Especially when you dont have any thing in your hand. At least a stick that is very hard can be very helpful to teach the canine a lesson.

Yes, I have been attacked by our tenant's dog. I saw her and my mom talking in the backyard. I approached them and greeted them with a kiss. Before I knew, the crappy dog named Macky bit me on the elbow. I had to go to RITM in Alabang ( Research Institute for Tropical Medicine) to have injection of the antirabies shot, which is so painful. If you get bitten in the face, then that is where they will inject you with the antiviral. I was not able to go to my night duty job that day because of that dog. Actually, I blame the owner for not taking care of the dog. They took him in as a puppy, and they adored him. But when he grew up, they forgot about him. It is their helper who is taking care of the dog hands on. Her job description is just to wash their clothes, but she walks the extra mile, she cleans the dog's poop, feeds it and walks it, but they owner...duh, where is she? Here is what made the dog like a K9. They have this Austrian relative who walks it when he was still here. He fed the dog raw meat and trained him and stuff. He was training the dog Macky to become a dog that kills. And today, he still barks at me furiously, thinking I am his prey...it is so scary.

As a child, I was regularly attacked by the dog of my neighbors. That monster seemed to wait for me evrytime I pass my neighbor's house to go to school and to get home. I told that to my parents, my parents told that to our neighbors, but they said that it wasn't serious, that the dog didn't bite me. Well, I cound't wait until I was bitten, so I had to run as fast as possible evrytime I saw it. One day, it was stolen, I sang all day long with a loudest voice sothat my neighbors could hear.

Well, i don't know if these instances would be considered an attack by dogs but i've encounterd them which really scared me. Me and a friend were playing basketball and my next door neighbor brought his pitbull over to the playground and me and my friend climbed up on the basketball poll while the pitbull circled the poll. One time i was out walking with a much older friend and while we were walking down the street past this house, a big dog came running out after us and it was a good thing there was a parked car nearby otherwise one of us would have been injured, we jumped on the car. But as far as being physically attacked or hurt by a dog, no i've never had that happend to me.

My story is kind of funny. I was about 15 and babysitting the kids next door. They had just gotten a pitbull puppy and had been training it to find people by smell, and, of course, to protect them from intruders. I had been there, babysitting for an hour or so, the puppy sitting on my lap, and the kids on either side of me, all of us watching television. We finished watching the program and the kids asked if we could play hide-and-seek. I agreed and the game began. It got to the point where it was my turn to hide and the older kid was finding me and the younger kid. I wanted to hide well, but not too well, so I hid under a bed. Well, the child could not find me, and decided to see if the puppy could help. The next thing I know, the pitbull pup was coming under the bed at me and biting the inside of my upper arm. Yep, they found me alright!! I still have the scars on my arm from it. As I said, my tory is kind of funny, not because I was bit, but because of the circumstances.

Yeah when I was like five or six about around that age I was at my friend's house and we were playing outside. He had a really big dog chained up in his yard and it was a Chow. I asked him if it was okay to pet his dog and he said yes. As I went to pet the dog it jumped on me and started clawing my face. I was bleeding profusely and had to be taken to the hospital. I was given forteen stitches in the side of my face.

No so far I have never been attack by a dog. I do jump when I walk by a house and the dog comes running and barking at me none have got out so far. I would be terrified too if a dog jump at me and starting biting me. You were lucky the owner came out and pull the dog off you before you were hurt anymore.

Yes I have been attacked by a dog. It was 4 years before. I was alone and Is was dark, it was in the middle of the night and went to see one friend. Normally there are people everywhere but not then. In my town we have so much dogs and they walk on the streets and no body do anything. Usually they are good dogs and they do not do anything. But that night while I was walking I saw 4 or 5, I am not sure, dogs. It was winter and maybe that`s why they were hungry. And one began to ran in front of me, and then the other went after the first. I was so scared I thought I would die. I began running fast. I was lucky because my home was hear and I could escape. I am happy that they could not bite me or eat me.

Hi, ladym33. I have never been attacked and I don't plan to ever be. I get scared when I see a dog following or running behind me. My cousin was attacked by her own dog. It bit her all in her face. It was a cut on her forehead, cheeks and chin.. Just seeing this made me feel very terrified. That is why I don't ever want a dog. And after all this went down, my aunt still bought another dog. It wouldn't have been a dog in my yard.. I am sorry about what the neighbor's dog did to you. This is terrible to experience. Just be very careful from now on. Dogs are not as they used to be. They have killer instincts that they possess that is very dangerous.

That sounds terrifying, I'm glad you're okay, well at least you're still here. I've never been attacked, I've been cornered by one before. My dad gave me some great advice, he was a mailman, he said, "Never kick at a dog that's attacking because now you're on one leg and he's still on four." I've taken that advice into adulthood.

I remembered that was years back when I was still below 12. There was this neighbour's dog ( a house at the other end of the road that my house was on ). It was big, on 4 legs it comes up to an adult's waist, white in colour and have red eyes. Yup, blood shot eyes like those we see on scary movies. Whenever I cycled past, it would bark and growl real bad, luckily it was leased and the gates were locked. One day, and I happened to be walking instead of cycling, it ran out of the gate, don't know who opened it and came at us. Luckily I was with my nanny and she had an umbrella. The dog wasn't able to bite us and after 2 or 3 minutes, it went back. Scared the wits out of us.

Hi! the last time I was attacked by a dog was many years ago, maybe 10-13 years ago. But now I don't scare them, because I think I can handle with a dog, that is trying to attack me. And I have chase away many times dogs, that wanted to bite me or my girlfriend. And I don't scare them.

Yes, I was almost attacked by 4 actually. I was in a park where I chanced upon these nice flowers and I can't resist taking a snap. As I was really took tired standing, I wanted to squat and take a snap of the flowers where I spotted the 3 dogs resting nearby. They are like those wild dogs (black color) ones. Then when I squat down, I suddenly hear a very fierce bark from the back and I realised that there were a 4th dog and its bark alerted the remaining 3 dogs. Thus, almost immediately I was surrounded by the dogs from all sides. I wanted to run but I remembered that it was the worse way to escape as dogs are really fast! Thus, I had to act calm and slowly moved away although they actually followed me till a few metres away and then went back to their territory. It was a very scary experience for me as I really felt very freaked out as I can see really feel that they are all ready to have a piece of me using their sharp teeth.
