I will make sure several people who do not get to go on Home Visit get to have a Christmas Dinner. Many of them really do not know the difference one day to the next. Hubby is working, so I will work as well. I will not be here as I will be going to another family member for Christmas supper after work. I am just wishing you a special holiday. Are you working today, or being at home? Do you have family? Are you alone? Merry Christmas, wherever you are.

Hiya GardenGerty, No we are at Home today all of us well the four of us. We are having a quiet Day I make the most noise of them all because I love Christmas and they are not so keen on it except for the Christmas Dinner of course. Hope you and yours are having a great Day too. Sue.xxx

Loving Christmas is good. When we spread out our celebration among several parts of the family it really intensifies the experience.

No one I know celebrates boxing day, but perhaps in another part of the country they do. You should start a discussion about it, and explain it a little further, as I am not positive what Boxing Day is. As a young pre teen when my books would talk about boxing day, I would think of the sport, and then somewhere along the line I got it confused with the Boxer Rebellion, and we do not do World History very well, but I learned that was not part of it either. I would respond to a discussion of Boxing Day.

Hiya GardenGerty, Welll yes I spread it as far as I can being as cheerful as I can although my heart may not really be in it altogether. A lot has happened over the past two years a lot so it´s harder to be centered and not let yourself get worked up about those past things that have caused so much hurt. Do you celebrate Boxing Day in the U.S.? I have never got that clear altogether.

Happy Christmas to you, Gerty! I don't know what Home Visit is but I guess you are brightening the day for others. God bless you! I am home alone right now but I had a wonderful Christmas Eve with my cousin and finally met her family after I had lived far away for almost 30 years and it was wonderful. Today I'm going to my dad's. He's 87 and this may be my last Christmas with him. I'm blessed to be able to spend time with him and my stepmother one more time. I came downstairs today singing Happy Birthday. My sister and mom had sent me a package so I had something to open this morning. Sister had knitted me a beautiful, soft scarf and they got me a wonderful porcelain dragon that is keeping watch under my little tree today, gifts of love that I will treasure.

Home visit is when the clients go to the homes of their families and are away from their apartments, and do not need staff. Is it your birthday today?

When family was home we often made a cake that said "Joyous Jesus' Birthday" a phrase I got from my friend in college. We had a Happy Birthday, Jesus cake at my brother's house.

These people you do home visits for, with a christmas dinner, may not know one day from the next, but they sense the excitement and appreciate the attention. It is wonderful what you do. My father has altzeimers, and I suspect by next Christmas he may be confused about what is going on. My daughter and I, and my parents went to my brothers house yesterday for Christmas. There were 15 people. We all brought food with us, but my brother did a huge amount of cooking with three roasts meats and roast veges. I ate twice as much as usual.

I have a brother who cooks, as well. We were at his house the first part of the week. Sunday, in fact. He cooks a big dinner every Sunday evening for the people from his church. Anyone who wants to come. He says he cannot afford to take them all out to eat, but he can prepare simple dinners on Sunday evenings.

Some of Steve's relatives came today for dinner. More come tomorrow for another dinner. I've felt very lonely and irritated today. I'm not used to being around my own family on Christmas day. I have my 13 yr old here, but she woke up with a migraine so has slept on and off all day. I hope your clients had a great day thanks to you. Marsha

I am sorry things are a little off for you. I guess it is part of making a blend of your family and his. The clients did have a pretty good day. Like other people, some of them have no family left. Some would not know the difference. Some I do feel sorry for, as they do know that they did not get to go see the family that they have.

Hi, GardenGerty. No, I am not working today, outside of the house that is. I am just going to be at home today. I have the Flu. My head is hurting very bad. I won't be alone because all three of my kids will be here with me at home. I was supposed to be going over to my grandmother's house for Christmas, but that is not going to happen because I am feeling sick. My son has a cold too, but it is not as bad as mines is. My daughters are also just getting over their cold too. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Enjoy your supper after work too!

Have a Merry Christmas. That is a wonderful thing you are doing. Making other people day a joyous and happy day. May God be with you. I have family, but we aren't really that close so I will be spending "*Home Alone"*, I was getting a little depressed but quickly rebuked the devil and remembered that today isn't about me. It is about Jesus and he is the reason for the season.

Merry christmas and today even I was working and sometimes it happens due to hectic work pressure. Although I am not a christian, but still I do take off whenever it is christmas. But this time, Unfortunately I couldnt do that. But the only solace is that I can take compenstory offs in the future days to come and thats it. Thanks for starting the discussion and have a great year ahead. Happy Mylotting. Cheers:-)

I am a Program Coordinator for the adult disabled. I have seven clients in my program. Although they were all with their family, our agency always tries to do something for those who are not able to be with family. Those clients still need medication passed to them and a hot meal. That is what I did all day yesterday.

I worked Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I'm an in home aide, and we could work if we wanted to, so I chose to do so. The person I sit with is family so it wasn't much different from a family get together, only thing was I had to go in early and I had to do a few things that I normally do for work. Merry Christmas To you as well.

I consider myself lucky to be working for a family member so to speak. I avoided the awkwardness of sitting with a person I didn't know. So you are also in the same line of work? I clean, and prepare meals but don't cook. To be honest, I don't know how but know this is something I desperately need to learn.

Bless you for your kindnesses for those less fortunate. They may not know which day is Christmas, but you also don't know if every day is Christmas to them. None of them asked to be where they are and you are an angel for making the best of a sad situation for them. Did you get any of this snow up there, or did you get all rain? We're pretty much snowed in, and my son was stranded in the city yesterday. Fortunately he was able to get a room, and not one of those who were stuck on the highways for hours. I don't even know if the roads are cleared enough for him to get home today. In hind sight, instead of wishing for a while Christmas maybe I should have wished for a winning Powerball number...lol. Merry Christmas to you too!

We have snow, not much of it, but very frigid temperatures. We left the city a day or so ahead of the snow, and we started in Guthrie. My cousin's hubby got stuck and snowed in at work in the city. When you get that winner you need to share it with me.

Awesome fun. I have met one MyLotter in person, as he lives near my daughter. I could easily get together with some of my Oklahoma or Missouri MyLot friends and visit sometime. At one time I wanted to attend that University that is in your town. I may just have to start wishing for wonderful things and see how far it takes me.

Hahaha...be careful what you ask for my friend. So far the only wish I've been granted is for snow. If I do hit Powerball, your at the top of the list. Wouldn't a myLot convention be fun?

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and I'm sure your clients enjoyed it as well. I've been at home all day today. I have a sister who lives up the road from me and I usually get together with her, her husband, and family. However, her family didn't come home this year so we all had a pretty quiet Christmas. Ruby Tuesday's is going to be open tonight and I'm thinking about going there for my Christmas dinner. Youall have a Happy Nw Year! Kathy.

I live in a small town, myself, and Ruby Tuesday's was about the only restaurant open tonight. They were really busy. I didn't have the usual Christmas Dinner, though. In other words, they didn't have turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, etc. My server said they had these things for Thanksgiving but not today. I had a turkey sandwich, at least, so that was my turkey, lol. It was good, though. Kathy.
