Christmas Storm 2009 - Some of what my area looks like after 2 days
of heavy snow, rain, sleet etc etc in Minnesota.

Well, I'd say beyond snowy actually. So far in my area, I have gotten about 15 inches or so. Today I woke up to 4 inches of wet; sloppy; heavy; slushy snow/rain. A lot of work shoveling that gunk. Anyhow as this photo shows, I still have to cleaqr out by my mailbox or the mail won't deliver if they can't reach the box. Maybe the plow will do it soon again for me. So what's the weather like for you on this Glorious Holiday? HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

We're in southern Iowa, and while it wasn't nearly as bad here as it was up where you live, we still had plenty of ice, snow, and blowing. I well know the mailbox problem. Years ago we lived out in the country. Every day after work my husband would dig our box out of the drifts, and while we were at work the next day, the plows would cover it up again. So by the time the mail carrier arrived, he couldn't get to the box, so he'd leave us nasty notes. It was truly a no-win situation.

I would be tempted in that case to get a post office box for the convenience.

It was a nice enough day, but cold. I'm ready for those 70's to come back! I don't ask for much do I?

Hey Grandpa Bob! Merry Christmas! Right now we are getting some icy rain/sleet/hail! The temps have been hovering higher than normal today so we are getting the wetter stuff instead of the whiter stuff! But, it's only a matter of about 4 degrees and then it could go either way! We still have a few inches on the ground from last weekends snowfall! But, nothing like your totals! But, I'd rather have the snow because tomorrow if this stuff freezes we'll have an ice skating rink and walking will be hell!

It's been really warm here since early afternoon. Now it's just rain falling. The roads will be icy soon as the temps are hovering near 32 now. I have to drive on the roads in a bit to pick my son up from work too. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

We havent got much in Indiana at all. We got some to makle the roads slick but that was mainly ice. We had as rainy day on christmas. I don't like when holidays are dark and gloomy. I would much rather them be sunny and nice weather!

Not so much snow, but really frigid cold. My daughter is leaving Nebraska this afternoon to head back to your neck of the woods. You could just run over and shovel a path for them to get home safely. They want to worship in their own church tomorrow,Sunday. I had a good day, no shoveling, too much wind blowing the very dry white snow around. I know you love it friend, and I do not envy you at all.

It's not bad at the moment...just a smidgeon of humidity. It was hot and humid just before Christmas then it started to rain. It is still showering and we are on close flood watch. There is low level flooding across our road out in several places. There are tractors and State Emergency Vehicles on standby ready to go if necessary.

The snow is starting to melt, and it's a good thing. The mail didn't run Christmas Eve because of the blizzard. And then the day after Christmas the mail still didn't run because the roads were so bad. Unfortunately, due to the weather delays, my dad's Christmas present did not come. I'm hoping the mail delivery will resume tomorrow and my poor dad gets his present!

Yep. It is alot of work shoveling snow but it is so fun also. I wish we would get some of it here in Indiana. We have only had about an inch of it so far. It has been in the 20's and 30's here but no snow to brag about yet.

15 inches, ouch! Christmas was gloriously crystal clear. We drove over the Sierra Nevada to Fallon NV to my dad's. There was a fair amount of snow there and it was colder even than Lake Tahoe (which is higher elevation). Very pretty though.

It is nice and warm here and I am toasted, which is good because this house can be as cold as a barn in the winter. I hope you had a nice christmas

We had freezing rain yesterday, plain rain today, and now it is snowing lol. They did say we'd have a wintry mix, and they were right! Karen
