I think that is a neat idea for a group name to stop child abuse. I think I like the one called, Crying in the Corner. Most kids hide when there is abuse in the family and alot of them are used to feeling cornered also.

lol! yay Maggie's brain is awake! :P That is a good title, but I wonder if...maybe it doesn't sound serious enough? It almost sounds comedic to me, like a punch lines going to follow (is that just me?) lol -- But I defiantly agree with your reasoning! Thanks steph and maggie!!!

Just for an experiment, how about, "In This Corner"? That makes me think of fighting, & children in that situation need a champion to fight for them! Or maybe, Champions For Cornered Children"? (I think my brain's beginning to wake up & work! ) Maggiepie CELEBRATE ALL 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS! (AND New Year's Day!)

hi lilyofthethorns WhyDaddy Why is my name contribution and comes straight from my heart as I went to my own father when I was twenty and faced him. I asked him why did he have to molest me when I was eight and an innocent little child who had no idea what he was doing except he was hurting her. I had called out that time, why,Daddy, why? and got no answer. then at 20 I wanted to know, to understand what made him do such an evil thing to his own child. But he did not answer me at all. he just turned away and left the room. I hated him for a long time until my husband told me the hatred was making me feel ill so Idid forgive him but I have never forgotten it,not ever.So at age 83 I now send you my contribution,Why Daddy Why.

hmmm... the pessimist/pragmatist in me thinks there may already be enough said "groups" all too neglected...and as a movement, one that's both not paid enough attention to on one hand, and perhaps taken too far on another... All the scrooge stuff out of the way, then... how about "Bless the child", "One Love", "Future's promise", "Family Strong"--or something positive, you know--something that doesn't focus on what we're/you're against, but proactively focuses on what you're/we're for...?

You're welcome. Still, I suggest that what human's need to invest in, is something much larger--a movement that incorporates all of the needy, and all of the species, something that encourages life, hope, prosperity, and future for all...

Oh I agree, but I'm not too sure I believe that'll ever happen! There's my pessimism(spelling?) lol

The optimist in me says there can never be enough groups to help children! lol I know that I probably won't be bringing in tons of monetary donations, but just getting the word across is worth it! :) I like your titles, I defiantly have a lot of titles to go through! lol Thanks!

They are all good names themselves and it is difficult to single one out so I won't attempt to do so. But to try to answer your question I think I like crying in the corner a little more than the rest. I one wrote a poem about child abuse called secrets in the dark room. I definitely hope that you have a very successful venture and will bring awareness to an injustice that so many are familiar.

Okay! :D That's one point I'll add for Crying in the Corner...I was thinking about making the title about being/crying in the dark, but I wasn't sure if that was too cliche...lol Thanks rock! I bet the poem was sad! :(

Greetings LilyoftheThorns, I really like the name "Tiny Tears." I think it says a lot. Imo, it catches the eye and interest. You can always have a motto or saying below it somewhere for further description. But, imo, those two words together are great and peaks the emotions of those you would be trying to reach. May God bless you in this endeavor.

This won't be a big charity thing (at least not yet)...right now it's just a little internet thing and I'm not sure I'd get a grant for it. But that is defiantly something I need to remember!!! Thanks ice! I like how you're aiming the title towards the strength of children instead of the helplessness.

Hi, Lily. I think those are a good start, but I sort of think it might be better if the title brought to mind hope. Here are my suggestions: * Tiny Cries * Big Voices For Silenced Ones * Drying the Tears * No More Tears * No More Crying * End the Sadness, End the Fear * Helping Helpless Littles * Helping the Helpless (though this might be mistaken for helping adults) * Hope For Hurt & Helpless Children * Little Children, Big Fears * Small Bodies, Big Hurts * Love, Not Lashes I could come up with more. Those were just sitting atop my noggin. Brava for you for wanting to help! What are your plans? As a former abused child, I must tell you I would do anything to stop such abuse. If I had money, I'd give it. Besides these title ideas, all I have to offer at the moment are my writing & proofreading skills. If you need them--ask! The first thing any such child needs is for someone they can trust to believe them, & just listen. The next thing is to make it stop. Forever. Maggiepie CELEBRATE ALL 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS! Thank you very much Maggie!!! :) I like those titles and I'm going to nit pick through them and fiddle with them and see what hits me the hardest! :) I wish I could donate money too, but I'm going to be just starting school, and not working, so I can't That's why I'm starting these causes, even if I can't donate I can bring attention to things and maybe find others who can donate. I'm glad you got through your abuse! And I'm sorry you had to go through it I'm lucky that I haven't gone through anything like that!!!

Wow! Thank you for the Best response! Yes, I originally said "Champions for Cornered Children," but I like your modification better. It's simpler, pithy, easier to remember, & therefore it should catch on faster. Good teamwork! And there were other, equally-good names, too, so it's not as if I didn't have healthy competition! You just made my day with that BR, though! Please give us a heads-up when you're ready to launch. I want to join, help however I can. Now your next problem will be figuring out how to keep folks from thinking CFC stands for ChloroFluoroCarbons! Hee! Kidding, kidding... If people think that CFC stands for that (don't even want to try to attempt to repeat it ;P) then I don't even want to mess with them! lol I wanted to have something simple but powerful...and Champions for Children defiantly feels right! :D I am glad I made your day!! lol. I made a new discussion giving the link to the cause! The discussion is called Two More Causes On Facebook. :D Thanks!!

LOL! I wouldn't even have thought of either of those. Don't even try to make my brain think today! :P Wow! I guess that was a good typo! Usually I hate them! lol I will send you a message with the link right now! And I'm not very technical either, so any instructions I give will automatically be FB for Dummies lol Thanks!

LILY said: LOL! Wow!! If people think that CFC stands for that (don't even want to try to attempt to repeat it;P) then I don't even want to mess with them! lol Oh, I wouldn't worry. It all depends on context. Think of the NEA. Which one, you ask? If we're discussing art, then it's the National Endowment for the Arts--may they perish...but if the topic is grades, curricula or children, then you know we're most likely discussing the National Education Association--which can also take a long hike off a short cliche, come to think of it... I wanted to have something simple but powerful...and Champions for Children defiantly feels right!:D Oh, I totally agree! Oh, & I definitely love your typo; children should be "defiant" against abusive adults! I am glad I made your day!! lol. I made a new discussion giving the link to the cause! The discussion is called Two More Causes On Facebook.:D Wuh-ohhh...I have FB, but I can never figure out how to find stuff on it. Could you possibly PM me with instructions? Please keep in mind I am The Anti-Tech! So try to keep it along the lines of FB For Dummies, which might work. I wanna seee! Thanks!! Ah, de nada, mi amiga! Have fun setting things up! Okay, one more: (The) Mighty Small. I suggest this because, with us, the small ones have a mighty voice, so they can become mighty, against the odds. (Still aiming at that hope!) ) Picked something yet? Maggiepie MERRY CHRISTMAS, & HAPPY 2010!!!

Suggestion: Let fate pick it. When all things are equal (& many of these names are just fine, really), then choosing blindly may be the best way to choose. Otherwise, you may just find yourself stuck, & not follow through on a task! I know this from experience; it's part of what leads to writer's block. So, try this. Pin them all up on a bulletin board, then blindfold yourself, let someone aim you in their direction, & you just throw darts 'til one sticks (& your friend there can tell you when one has). Wherever the dart lands, that's the name you use. Voila! Maggiepie MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY 2010!!!

I just came across your discussion here but immediately thought of "S.C.A.N." (Stop Child Abuse Now). You could use any phrase like that but I like the inference in the word SCAN which sounds like people are watching you, or you are on the lookout for child abusers.

Geez...I did that for my other cause, you would think I could come up with it for another :P lol. I made S.T.O.P.S which is "Stand Tough On Pitbulls Side." But it's not as good as S.C.A.N (which I really like!) Thank you mental!

Hello LilyoftheThorns! I think you should pick a name that will reflect what your ultimate goal in starting this group is for. This will help to give you focus and keep your theme positive. Names like: Saving little lives, Helping our Children today, No Child lost, Safety Net for Children etc A positive name will reflect that you believe there are solutions to this problem in society. A positive name will keep you and your clients working with a good energy. Whatever you decide, I wish you Good Luck. It is definitely a worthy cause!

"Broken Bodies, Shattered Hearts," that sounds so familiar that I bet that is copywritten somewhere. It's perfict, but I've heard it before. Either that or maybe it has been said so many times that now it's cliche. Wonder how you would find out if there is a copywrite or patten on it? If you use it and someone else did it first, you'll find out in a hurry, but if they sue you, that wouldn't be good. I've also heard "Shattered Lives," many times, too. They sound as familiar as "Save the Children" which is a group that helps children with your donated dollars. Since you dont' want broken bodies or shattered lives, how about something like Prevent something Innocents. We'd like children to all be happy, healthy, and innocent for as long as is normal for a child. I know the others have more of an inpact, but if people actually prevented all that, there wouldn't be broken bodies and shattered hearts and isn't that the goal?
