Three Little Mittens

Three Pair Of Mittens - Hand over fist...the best Christmas Gift of All.

I am proud to say that the mittens that made for gifts found their way to the recipients! They were delighted. The first one said "She sure makes warm mittens", the second one said "You can say that again", and the third did. I was told that after 12 rounds of this cute game it was getting a bit old. They love their mittens. Sometimes the best gifts are those that are handmade. They are made with love.

That's cool. :) It's great when hand made gifts are well received. I only made a few gifts of knitted "rug mugs" this year because I ran out of ideas on what to make that anyone would actually use.

I've made dish cloths, too, and everyone likes them.

I started making them when client showed me how to make them. I still can't make them like she did though.

I wish I could make gloves. That of course would take too much thought process for me.

Do you use 2 needles or 4? I have never used more than 2 needles for my knitting projects.

They are o where as hard as they seem. Really it is just making a few more thumb tubes.

I have made these mittens for over 40 years now. Wow tells you I am old! I started when I was 12 knitting these and have made so many sets that I no longer require the pattern!

Once I finish the mittens for the other 3 grandchildren I will be starting a sweater for my grandson's 9th birthday. I have 2 months to complete it.

I think that is a very nice gift to give someone. I used to get gifts like that from my grandma when she was still living. I really liked that kind of stuff also because it actually was made by a family member.

One of my former clients made matching sets for her grandchildren and stopped making them because she thought they didn't like them as well as store bought ones. I told her that she should start making them again. Sadly, she didn't have the ambition to do so.

Hello friend. I agree that hand-made gifts are of the best that we can get from our loved ones and friends. It is so true that they are made with love. I am so happy that the three mittens have already found their recipients. I also had some paper-made birds given to me by one of my students and I appreciate her for making them for me as gifts...

I love those birds. My son sent me one and he was so proud of that accomplishment. I have it sitting on a shelf for all to view.

That's great! I'm glad you got them finished. I remember you were worried that you wouldnt't. I'm also glad that they liked them. Handmade gifts are more meaningful than the others because you have cared enough to take that time to make them.

That's great that everyone appreciated them. I think most people liked my handmade gifts - I haven't even finished giving gifts yet, so I don't know.

I couldn't agree more. Im glad your mittens were so well received. My daughter made homemade shortbread cookies in christmas shapes, put them on paper xmas plates, and wrapped them in red celaphane & tied with ribbon. The receipents, my parents, brother, friends and cousins were very pleased.

I agree that gifts handmade with love from the heart are the best gifts of all! I would much rather receive a gift that a person invested time and love in than a trinket picked up at a mall! Mittens are a great gift for anyone! I actually had to buy a pair of mittens for myself a few days ago, as I had no one make me a pair! I wanted the gloves with the fingertips missing, but with the flap available to fold over the fingertips when desired! When not desired, there is a button on the top of the mitten onto which the flap is buttoned! This allows me to use my fingertips when needed! They are like a cross between gloves and mittens!!

I have seen those and would love to find out how to make them. I am certain that I could find a pattern on the internet. However, I think I am not up to challenging my skills just yet.

That's for sure! I think with the personal touch a gift has more meaning....and says that you thought out what you were giving....

Most of my grandkids have watched me while I have knit many of my projects including the mittens. They enjoy the fact that I make them for them and appreciate the time I put into the gift.

I used two skeins of yarn to get a nice effect with the colors and it also gives more warmth to the mitten.

best gifts are the ones made or chosen with love for the person receiving it. We made picture calendars for our loved ones with the kids on each month (different shots taken through out the last year......

That is wonderful. It makes you feel so good when someone is happy that you gave them something they could really use and something that keeps someone warm is the best. Great!

Gifts that are handmade especially with love sure are priceless and it is a lovely idea to make mittens for your loved ones. I think they are so pretty and warm. They would be so comforting to wear just like being with a good friend, warm and comforting. I am sure that each time the recipients of the mittens wear them they think of you with a smile and a warm heart. Lovely thoughtful idea made from the heart.

How wonderful that your gifts were so enjoyed! My grown children are all doing well and can buy what they need so I often give them handmade items. As I learn different crafts I make something for my children for Christmas presents. Some of the crafts I especially love are rug hooking, scrapbooking, crazy quilts, jewelry making and now knitting. I'm not to the point of making mittens but looking forward to when I can. I applaud you!

yay congradlations for getting them to their rightful recipients i am glad to hear that they liked them i agree that the best gifts are hand made and i think that hand made gifts show more love (as long as they are correctly and properly made that is) but some people look as it as you are too cheap to go out and buy a "professionally" done gift but if you do a good job with hand made gifts they would never even know that it is hand made
