What conditions help you to get the most work done? What things do you need?

it doesnt really matter to me. i can work if i am focused but it really helps if it is something that i really like to do. i do like to have music when i am working which i do have at work, but at home, i dont usually put on music. if i am alone, i listen to talk radio.

Talk radio would definitely distract me unless I was doing something really repetitive like filling balsom pillows. Then I could listen to talk radio, but not when trying to write an article unless the article was based on talk radio.
Thanks for responding and take care.

I like having mindless television on or music. I do not want to feel alone, but I do not want my husband coming up and rubbing my shoulders or trying to share something he found online while I am trying to work at the computer. A shoulder rub while doing dishes is okay.

I don't feel alone or lonely. He's gone to work; he's coming back. I need a lot of time alone, actually. Too much people or too many people drive me crazy and my husband is the same way. He needs some alone time, too. To create. Tomorrow, he will get it while he's in his wood shop.

In my job, as long as there will be no distractions, I could do much of my work. There is no problem with me finding the tools and materials needed as I am a resourceful person. But when it comes to distractions, my work would not be finished.

Yeah, distractions make it so work doesn't get finished, that's true.

I like noise in the background so the television is on all the time I am in the computer room. Always have a pen and plenty of paper close by. Hate to admit this to everyone but also have an ashtray in this room and generally a soda or bottle of water. Then I am ready to go.

An ashtray? But Grandma! What's up with that? Oh no. You're poluting yourself. What about the Grandkids?

Hi writersedge.^^
I usually need to be in the mood so I can get a work done. If I want to finish it immediately, all distractions should be eliminated first.^^
Sometimes when there is pending work at the office, I will tell myself that I have to finish it the next day. I will "condition" my mind that I am going to do this and finish this tomorrow. I will keep on telling that myself even as I go to work that day. I don't really need to prepare anything, just my mind.^^
Though when I write letters to friends, I prepare my pen and special paper first before I get started.^^

I build videos for my customers from my home. I need quiet... My videos include music, so that's all the music I need. I also need for the dogs not to put their heads on my lap, seeking attention/a pat on the head. They're the biggest distractions I have :}.

That sounds like a nice job. A babbling brook sounds good to me, too. Thanks and take care.

I am really not sure. I know I need my husband to leave me alone if I am working online and I also need him not to call me at work, as his timing always interrupts something. I need the computer to work flawlessly and not delay loading. I need to be full and warm as well.

I'm a writer. I need sound to create and imagine. I've been that way forever, since I started writing. I think it was my house and later my dorm were very noisy places.
To that end, I like to play an audio book or music. I, sometimes, will play a DVD, but only one I'm familiar with. If it's unfamiliar, I'll be too tempted to just watch it and not do what I should be doing.

I remember an art teacher in school who used to have music for our inspiration for art. It's an interesting concept.

Hi, Edge!
I usually need to have a bunch of things that are all needed in a hurry to make sure it all gets done. If I have any free time at al, I get lost in a book or on line, and nothing much gets accomplished. I'll be pushing against deadlines like crazy once I finally get rid of this long, drawn-out case of pneumonia that I thought was just a little bronchitis when I first got sick on Christmas day...

Oh dear, pneumonia. I had that a couple of times, then I got a shot for it and haven't had it since. It's miserable, makes you sooo tired. I had bronchitis that went into pneumonia before I had the shot. So that can happen.
I hope you feel better soon. Good luck.

Thanks. I did have the shot. The doctor said, if I hadn't, I wouldn't be on the mend. Glad I did!

I need no distractions, calm in the house, something thought provoking on tv or in the music I am listening to. I need to have pen and paper or a computer 'notebook' up so I can jot down any ideas for discussions that may come to mind. I usually read through the newsletters I get online for ideas.
