We're all different and celebrate Valentine's Day differently. SOme f us plan and plan and plan and the excitement of thinking through HOW we're goign to show love to our Special Love is very exciting! Others wait until the last minute and all that energy builds behind a dam of love that simply bursts in just a matter of moments! Which are you? Do you plan for your special day, night or weekend? Or do you wait until that very unique idea pops into your line of vision or into your mind and you move quickly? What are some things you've done to celebrate taht are different than the norm? (This is for those last minutERs!) Thank God for Valentine's Day! It gives us all a chance to be mushy at the same time!!

I like to sometimes wait till the last minute before buying people non-Christmas day gifts. I like the panic taht tends to ensue around a set deadline. It's kinda fun in a stressful way. I make it a point to actively ignore Valentines day in front of women. I find the surprize gifts are the most appreciated.

You are kind of ornery and diabolical ignoring the holiday to surprise them. It sounds as if you need an adrenaline fix for the holidays as well, by waiting to the last minute.

I admit, impulsive buying is fun. I tend to do it out of necessity because I either forgot, or truly did ignore the date. BUT this year I decided to give my hunny a great Valentine's Day! Been planning and working on it for days! I'm so excited!! For once.

I have to agree it sounds like CB is an adrenaline junkie. I would be so upset thinking he had forgot. Hubby did that to me last year on my birthday, he had ordered the flowers had them ready but I thought he had forgot and I felt so upset that I hadent got nothing then he went to pick them up and came hom eI was so excited because I thought he had forgotten me.

We are mushy all the time. It matters very little. I have tried several times, but not kept up with it, to buy a little daily gift for the whole month, and celebrate Valentine Month. I would buy things like a red pocket notebook, since hubby likes to have one at all times, and a balloon, and finger puppets, you name it. We are somewhat more silly than we are romantic. Last year, in my brother's church, several couples renewed their vows. Some had planned to do this, others, like Bob and I were just there to visit, but it is a small, informal church, and they had printed up plenty of certificates, so we renewed our vows along with many other couples. I am fortunate to have my big home church and the privilege of attending often this small church as well. It is like having extra family.

We do Thanksgiving up big, that is when my kids, and my brother and my sister were born. Big family party, and always something to be thankful for.

aw Gerty! You sound like my Mom! She has a card and gift for every occasion! Do any of you parents include your "little Valentines" in the celebration? We do. Our daughters were both born at Valentines, but we include the boys too. It's quite the celebration around here!

aww this is so sweet. We have been married almost a year, will be a year june 20th. I think we are silly too. I have always wanted a fun silly love. I feel less pressure to please them then. I feel like everything I do makes my husband happy and feel loved.

Well, I have tried it both ways. I planned one year for weeks ahead of time for my ex's Valentine. I did all sorts of cool stuff JUST FOR HIM! He totally ignored it and was a real downer. I never did anything overly special again. It was very hurtful and set the scene for alot of what went down later. I have had some very nice Valentine's Days. Usually from my kids.

Hi Bear, It's good to plan your date especially if there's a need for any reservation or preparation. it will be unfair for your partner to learn about this the last minute and the person will be stressed in preparing for the date. but on the other hand, there's the thrill of it making it a surprise date for your loved one. as long as it will not ruin the purpose of the date...whatever and whichever is fine with me!

Hi friend! I haven't celebrates the valentine's day many times, but I think that the planning for it is more fun, because we go up and down, left and right, and do so many things to make it a very special moment

This is true the rush of trying to make everything perfect does make you more excited. I just think that trying to crame so much love in one day is too much. I show my hubby love everyday and if I give him more on way day it wont balance out lmao just kidding. But yea I do think valentines day and sweetest day is a plan to get people to buy things! Expecially chocolate things!

IT does get the mind thinking about doing somethign extra ordinary. We should show love everyday, but there is something about anticipating something extra ordinary!

For me planning for anything is more fun than waiting for the last minute. Valentine's Day this year is low budget since we are low on cash this moth, but i am thinking 14 months in advance of a Milestone birthday for my husband. He'll be 64 this year, and 65 ext year, so I am going to throw a big party for him for his big birthday next year. I'm glad I have the time and budget to plan for it. As for Valentine's Day, we just bought eachother presents from our favourite chocolate shop, and we are going to give them to eachother tomorrow afternoon.

i do have plans but sometimes we change it at the last minute. but since my wife gave birth to our son who is four years old already, our plans are more deffinite. we make our dates at lunch and not on dinner. we leave our son to my sister and we dont like to get in their way of their date too so we date during lunch and be at home around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. about gift to give i started a discussion about that so i have something in mind already.

I think its more about time together vs. a gift! Or a homemade gift from the heart!

Hi Bearballew! I have kind of waited to the last minute, but went out tonight to get my Valentine his gift and have some special things planned for him tomorrow! Unfortunately, he has to go to work on Monday which is really a holiday here in the US, but one that he doesn't have off! I am going to make him a special dinner, let him take a bubble bath with candles, give him a special massage, and then....to be continued....lol

I'm one of those last minute people. I think the pressure brings out the most innovated and awesome ideas. If I took the time to sit down and try to think of what to do I couldn't come up with ideas as awesome as those under pressure.

Suspense is always interesting and thrilling. Instead of planning for a valentines day and doing exactly how we planned, I feel deciding suddenly and before we could realise what we planned, implementing the plan, gives more thrill and shivers than planning before.

I just had a great day today. I haven't planned anything, sort of had rough ideas on what to do, and made decisions on the last minute. It turned out great, though. Bought some snacks, brought it to a nice park where we had our first date, went to a holy altar where we lighted candles, ate dinner on a romantic place which we always wanted to but haven't had the chance before, and then had a nice chat on the way home. Nothing much, it may seem, but when you're in a more-than-seven-years relationship(as I am) events like this are almost rare. I realized how much we have missed on the simple things that we shared.

My husband and I don't typically make a big deal out of Valentine's Day. But, this year we did (for once in the past eight years). We went out to dinner on Saturday night to avoid the crowd (this was so very nice for us) and then yesterday, which was actually Valentine's Day, we made a quick trip to Sam's Club where we were able to gift each other with a new LCD television. This new gift is our gift to each other for the year, but it was kind of ironic that we ended up getting it on Valentine's Day.
