Have you seen any cinema shooting? How did you feel about it?

Once my friend has taken some of us to a film studio to watch a Telugu cinema shooting. Leading stars were acting in a song sequence. Only two lines were shot on that day. The actors especially the extra actors had to practice several times the same old steps and expressions and finally one line was shot. Again one more line in the same way was being shot. I completely lost my patience and felt like coming out of that place. I was thinking how the actors are facing the same monotonous rehearsals many times daily and felt sorry for them. We just see the movie for 2 or 2 1/2 hours and come home. But for the actors, directors and technicians, how hard it will be to go through this ordeal everyday? Have you seen any movie shooting? How did you feel?

One evening while I was living in Italy, one of my friends came to my apartment and told he that some people were shooting a film in our city. He wanted to go back and watch the shooting and he asked me if I wanted to come. I had never seen a film shooting before, and I thought that it could be interesting to see what happened, so I joined him. I don't know what kind of film they were shooting, because we only saw a small part of it. We also lost our patience, because they kept on rehearsing the same scenes over and over, and when we had been there for a while we left.

That is the boring part of a movie shooting. We get bored to see the same old scene being shot so many times. But for them, it is their livelihood.

Hello Buchi_bulla. I have never got such a chance to see it, though I wish to because I hope to see some famous actors and actresses or some familiar ones. I think that it is very exciting to see cinema shooting. You are really lucky to have seen it, friend.

This is a rare experience to watch a cinema shooting. When I was going to office, I had to pass through a big garden. Every other day there was a shooting being taken there. My husband never used to stop the scooter to at least see who are the actors there. If I asked, he used to scold me.

Hi Buchi, many! I saw quite a few. There was one with Amitabh Bachchan (before Zanjeer), Jaya Bhaduri (she was fat and obviously painted) (Bansi Birju ws the name of the movie). Helen came to our school quite often. One of my schoolmates' mohter was an actress, well - she was a foreigner, so such roles. And another one was niece of Anita Guha - Santoshi Maa. :) Prema Narayan was my hostel mate. :) She was so different when she was with us! Never ever thought she would end up there. But the best was seeing Sharmila Tagore - she is genuinely fair - pinky white. I saw Saif Ali Khan when he must have been about 7 or 8 years old! :) Shashi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore were there on a shoot at Juhu when we went for picnic. Basically, shooting is boring. :)

Have you given autograph to those actors? Ha Ha Ha. The last sentence of your response is very very correct.

Instead you could have kept Sharmila Tagore's autograph itself with you.

Actually Jaya Bhaduri was more famous at that time, so we treated Amitabh Bachchan as an extra. :) he he. I took Sharmila Tagore's autograph, and I auctioned it for stamps. :) I had a nice collection which I gifted to one of my stupid cousins.:)

Correct. They shoot a long film and finally edit it to only few shots.

hi! yes, I have seen a cinema shooting, but it was just once and it wasn't really a cinema shooting. it was the movie to some song, but there were really many people on the shooting ground and all the dancers and the singers were there. it looked really interesting and exciting watching how it is made!

May be it was some video shooting for a song for some Album. Dance shooting will be interesting to watch. We can see the steps of many people, action, costume etc. and enjoy them.

yes.lootttttsss of shooting i am working in the film and tv industry for years now. i have been an integral part of many film shoots. i do vfx.. am a vfx artist. so my presence in the sets is inevitable to get the proper framing. yea.. its bit tough in the sense you have to go through those monotonous practice sessions before u get the final take. but to get a good output, you need to sacrifice something :)

Buchi ! I have seen scenes of two films being shot --one was in Kodaikanal and one in OOTY when I was a school girl.I had gone there to enjoy a vacation holiday and this added to our mirth in a big way.At that point of time, the thrill of seeing our celluloid idols in person superceded everything else. But , I often think of how difficult it would be esp after appearing once on Raj T.V. for a programme 'Ladies' Junction'.I heard from [people that actress Suhasini had to brave the hot sun and change a saree in a some small hidden hut like place and it was in May too. With cameras flashing and heavy makeup, it must be an ordeal for the actors and actresses. Actress Sachu had also metioned how she had to dance on the rocks in her first film , in the hot sun.I was actually mentioning about this a week back and was saying what you had expressed -as to how we casually see movies for a short while but how much of hard work is entailed! It is even more difficult for the extras playing insignificant roles and earning a pittance for their livelihood.I am sure they would not be paid huge sums and their only hope would be to catch the limelight somne day or other.

Very truely said. Think about the stunt masters. Their face also does not come in the picture. They risk their lives and get paid in peanuts and big actors get paid in crores.

Hi Buchi! I have seen it once or twice and I know it is quite boring to see the shooting because of numerous takes and re-takes. It is better to watch the complete movie rather than watching the shooting.

Hi Buchi, I have never seen a cinema shooting in my life. But I heard from the people who happened to watch the shooting have the same opinion like you. According to them we may never watch a cinema if we go and watch the shooting and it is really a boring one. You are right; they are spending precious time to make a good film and patience is also having an important role in this field. After the hard work if the film can’t do well in public then how they may feel? I heard the narrations from famous directors about the shooting of popular films in TV. We can simply understand how they worked hard for making a successful film.

Yes. To make a film, how much money, effort and hard work goes into it? I always feel for that. People, on the other hand either watch pirated cds or very easily say very bad and go away.

Yes it was very boring to see the same shots again and again. It was Jayalalitha and Nageswara Rao with extras, a dancing scene that was shot in Sarathi studios.

hi,friend, fresh look discussion.... When i was in Agriculture university,Tirupathi, there were regular shootings, majorly Chirangeevi's movies in our campus.Once i saw picturisation of fighting scene that is 10 fighters and chirangeevi, but i wondered there was a person who resembles chirangeevi in face, physic including dress.Major risky shots were shooted on him and finishing touches were shooted on chirangeevi. As it was the story of 1985,its really thrilling one side and what was happening behind the screen one side.... Eventhough i was in Hyderabad for 15 years,i never waste even 1 second to show interest on shootings.... Bye,have a nice time and thank you for your patience to read all this story.

I really pity those stunt artists, who risk their lives for these sort of dangerous stunts to make a living. Why do you say patience is required to read your response, it was interesting as usual as you write well.

You have correctly said it. If you see the shooting, you will loose the interest and tempo of watching the movie.

My mother drove past my favourite hotel in Toronto the other day, and she saw a film crew there shooting a TV show or something in Toronto. It was really interesting, she told me. I was not there, so I didn't see this, but from what she told me, it was an interesting experience.

That was nice for your mother to watch the shooting. We will always be watching the movie. But once we see for ourselves as to how a movie scene is shot.

One time, we had a road blocked off in town for a few days, so I decided to go down and check it out only to find out it was a film shooting. So a friend and I spoke with some people who were working and they said if we stuck around for an hour or two we would see something very exciting...so we did. Few hours later, they had a stunt guy load up into a beater of a car and before you know it, he was driving very fast towards a ramp where only one side of his car would go up the ramp, causing the car to roll over. He did the car rolled over and as soon as he hit the ramp, something exploded, causing it to look as if the explosion flipped the car over. It was intense, you could feel the hit of the explosion and watching a car get tossed onto its roof was exciting. Don't know what movie it was from, but boy, it was fantastic.

No I haven't but there's an ongoing drama series shooting on our place the series title is "Rubi" which is currently aired by our Philippines local TV channel ABS-CBN. The management rents one of my neighbors house to be the leading actress' home and I've seen her a lot when I wasn't working. They shoot every tuesday usually at night until 5am in the morning where everyone is at sleep. I want to take a picture but I'm too shy to get one, maybe one of these days I'll do that before they end the series. I already seen a lot of actors and actresses in our place because its one of their location that fits for a poor leading character, hahaha. Before our place or after a 5 minute walk, there's this place we called haunted house. Based on the name, horror movies or shows are sometimes being filmed there mostly local but known celebrities.

If you want to take a picture, then take it soon. Because they may suddenly stop shooting there and go to some other locale.
