I was very sad when I got an email saying that my flight to Halifax is canceled. I looked at other flights there and they are very expensive. I still want to go to Canada from June to July. So I have found a flight to Vancouver on a very good airline. I leave on 17th June and come home three weeks later. I will be able to have my baby daughters birthday and my birthday there.

I am glad to see that you have found another flight and that you can still go ahead and have a nice trip to Canada. Did you have to pay much more for your flights?

Yes, I had to pay £1,250 to fly on British Airways to Vancouver . I am expecting to get £867 back from the flight that would have been with Monarch to Halifax. Therefore I shall have to go easy on spending money over the next few months.

Well hopefully your new trip will turn out to be just as awesome as your original one would have been. Then the extra money will have been forgotten about as you will have great memories.

So maximax, you are a cancerian. :) Well, if you ever plan to come to India, and to Hyderabad, you are welcome to stay at our place. :) I am a vegetarian, but you could teach me a few of your dishes. I will make them. :) And I am so glad you are able to plan sometime together with family at Vancouver. Have a nice time. :)

I am glad that you have sorted to make an alternate flight arrangements and that your holiday is proceeding as planned. I hope that everything goes well for you. It's disheartening that after a lot of plans, making several arrangements and bookings your plans have to be discarded because an airline company has gone bust. I hope you enjoy your holiday.

Who was your flight with? I wanted to go to Halifax this year as well and I was waiting for some sort of a special deal from Southwest. I don't know how much time you have but have you considered fying into Maine and driving into Canada. I think that you would have to ferry the car to Halifax. Not quite sure. We visited coastal New England in the summer of 2008 and my one regret was that we didn't have the time to get into Canada. Have you been to Vancouver? It's one of my favorite cities. If you have the chance, ferry over to Victoria. Both great cities each with a different flavor.

My flight was booked with Jet2Canada and it was on Monarch Airlines. It was going from London Gatwick to Halifax. I got my passport in 2005 and since then every passport has become machine readable. I am not sure that I could get into the USA with my non machine readable passport. That is why I didn't fly to Boston and then hop up to Canada by train. I passed my practical driving test last month so now I have a full driving license. Yes, I will get the ferry over to beautiful Victoria. I hope that you get a special deal with Southwest.

Hi Max, I can understand your feeling and I know that a canceled flight/travel can be very disappointing specially if you're looking forward to it. I wonder why the flight was canceled? Anyway, good thing you found another one to bring you to Canada. I can see from your posts that you are a well-traveled person. Hope you enjoy this one.

Hi there. I got my flight canceled because the travel company I booked with went out of business. In this recession some companies are going down to due a lack of good finances. Travel is my top hobby. I felt very upset so I booked my trip to Vancouver to make up for my loss.

That is really great! Vancouver is amasing. There are so many great places to see and hike in the summer. I've lived in the lower mainland for my entire life. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask me. I'm planning a trip to Scotland in the fall. If I can get my finances together and get my VISA I will be going to Edinburough. I don't know when I'm coming back.. lol. I'm glad everything worked out for you. Enjoy!

I am so glad that you found a trip you can afford and that it's to Canada. I knew you would be albe to find something. I used to travel with tour groups a lot and if somebody had a birthday while we were on the trip, our hostess would make them a cake and we would all sing happy birthday to them. It was a lot of fun! I just hope you will be able to celebrate your's and your daughters' birthdays while you are away. That will make it extra fun! Kathy.
