Since everyone knows that this is "The All New myLot", I presume everyone knows what is myLot Rewards! as introduced by GoAskAlice about 3 weeks ago. And may I quote:
[i]"It's called myLot Rewards!...
myLot Rewards will be given to users from time to time for simply using myLot in a natural, constructive manner...
...Make sure to use the myLot Search box the same way you'd use Google, Yahoo, Bing, or whatever other search engine you might use..."[/i]

NOW, I wish to remind everyone of us to use the mylot Search box more often, but also be reminded not to abuse it.
ALSO, I have seen a lot of posts which still recommend one member to Google It! instead of directing the member to the mylot Search box.

Hi Neildc,
I am using mylot search from time to time and i am looking forward for that wonderful surprise...that mylot reward from using it's mylot search web. i know one day i will receive one, two, three and more rewards. i am just being positive on to this. right?!

friend finally i am rewarded already for surfing the mylot web. yeheayeeeyyy i already received it twice. i know there will be more to come. this inspired me much to work here despite my busy schedule and crochet business.

Great reminder Neil. Alice and I have been in discussions about this. I can't search the web from my browser - maybe not even from my country. She's on the case and no doubt will have the problem solved very soon. I shall be interested to see if others from the UK have the same problem.

Yes, P1kef1sh, I, too, get nothing when I do a web search. I find that discussion searches, too, are a little unsatisfactory: I get results from three or four years ago but very few from, say, the last week. This is disappointing when we are specifically asked to search before starting a new discussion.

so far, we have no problems from our location, we can use web or discussion with good results. i hope alice fix it for you very soon.

I can't search either and I am in the UK. It never finds a result whatever I put in the box.
I also cant use the games thing as it wont work unless you are running windows which I don't.
I even tried using a version of internet explorer on my Linux but it stills says only available to windows users. Very frustrating .

frankly, neildc, i haven't tried the new features on mylot yet. i'll probably do when i have more time. i have a structured time with work and could hardly find time to explore the new features in mylot. when i do, i'll give you a line and tell you of my impressions on these new features. in the meantime, i just post responses and comments.

Aside from the myLot Rewards! I guess you have found out already that comment box had changed, since you are giving responses and comments. I like this new way, I mean the new format, that you can have a clear view of all the comments below a response, while you are typing your comments. Have you noticed this one?

i think that's the only new feature that i've tried... there's no other way... also, notifications, of which i received about a couple, is also a new feature... but a few days ago, comments and responses get haywired and nowhere to be found... it has already been corrected, however... thanks for the response, neildc...

i have made a total of 22 cents by searching on mylot. nothing to sneeze at certainly but i was wondering how many searches you have to post before you get any money and also, i find that mylots search is not very 'Canada friendly'. i am in Canada and not everything i need to search for (work purposes) is in the US.

I don’t know about that since I saw your post. I am trying hard to remember everytime I logged in here in Mylot to use the search bar to get points from it. Oh I don’t know if points and rewards are the same. Maybe I have to check on the discussion link you given to learn more about this new feature. I will be using this search bar everyday as I read all the discussion I have here in Mylot.

In that way, you have put to a good use of the search function, which I think is awesome. You are right.. in order not to have duplicates, it's better to double check. So that's more better.. and hoping that all our discussions are original.

really awesome zed. i use mylot in searching for my old discussions too. people would think that i am comparing their new discussions with my old ones. and some had even mention that i was telling that they copied mine, when i put a link to my old discussions. i used to search for my old discussions just to recall some of them when there is a new discussion i would like to response to, and i use our search box. that makes mylot reward me for a number of times now.

I've used the search box quite a few times, but haven't received any rewards yet. I do a lot of crossword puzzles online, so I find it handy to find answers. I do divide my searches equallyu between myLot and two other reward search engines. For whatever reason, I've received a pretty constant stream of reward points from the others, but not myLot. What am I doing wrong?

admin has their way to determine how we use the search box. they are the ones who determine how much they will reward us. the only thing that i can suggest is, use the myLot Search box more often, naturally as how we use those other search engines.

Great information! Thank you for sharing this. I guess I need to check things out more. Is there a page of changes or anything I could check out? I do enjoy Mylot. Glad to be aware of what all is available now. I guess I will go check out the different things on here and see what I can see. Thanks.

You know, I haven't yet been able to make myself use the search function here in mylot for all of the internet searches that I am doing because I find that I can get better responses from other avenues. However, I do use the search to look for discussions that interest me or to see if what I am thinking about starting is a duplicate discussion and this method works out quite well for me. I may never get to the point that I use mylot search exclusively, but I'm making some strides in that direction.

oh, sorry about that. well, myLot Rewards! initially started giving a few cents while using the myLot Search box. you use it more often without abuse and you will be surprise to see a box telling you that you have been rewarded with the amount stated therein. the amount in the box will automatically added in your earnings.

you have to log in, of course, so that the system will know that it is actually you who is using the search box and whose account will be rewarded.
