When did you utter the word "promise"? Do you use this word just to comfort someone and calm somebody? Are you using this word to let someone trust you and your word? Will you say promise to make yourself to escape in a current situation and confrontation.Or to gain his/her trust once more and again? Do you think of your promise that has been broken lately? Are promises are made to be broken? Do you take this word as serious matter? Will you able to keep your promises or just take it as none? Your views are most welcome! Happy myLotting!

I take promises very seriously. Once made, should never be broken. I do not appreciate people breaking their promises because of stupid reasons. I understand there are times when one can't keep his/her promises (for example, you can't come on the promised hour because there is an emergency) but I absolutely loathe those who live with the "promises made to be broken" principle.

The word "promise" is a form of assurance or devotion. It is very sacred. Once you released that word, you are committed to it. Your trust and dignity is on the line. Once a promise is broken, it will lead to trouble and lost of trust from the recipient of it. That's why if I would say a promise to anyone, of course I would hold on to that. I don't want that person to lose his/her trust to me. Person whom you can trust is really special and you can count on him/her. I care for you, promise! Happy myLotting!

All what you have said are the happening in real life and being applied by some people who uses the word promise. It is the awful truth that some promises intended to fulfill are meant to be broken especially for those promises that are constructed in love matters. For me, there are promises that I really fulfill. These are promises that meant for my loved ones. I am aware of what I have made and do try my best in fulfilling if. But, if in some situations I think I might fail, then I honestly relate them all understand me and accept my imperfections. If someone made a promise to me, just like any people, have the feeling of expectations and holding on the words given. I felt how to be a person who made promise and a person who waited for the promise. Sometimes, it is hard to accept things why promises are meant to be broken. Maybe because there are things in life that the person who made a promise does not hold enough what he said, but on other hand, there are some who really did their best but did not succeeded. Either way for me, as long It was explained for such valid reasons, then I will understand things wholeheartedly. Regardless of the importance of the word promise but the essence of what kind of person he is. Not all who fulfill promises are said to be great persons, it depends on the situations like trials and challenges. Either it counts for, it is the person who really matters at all.

To me promise is a commitment, a pledge, which a person gives to another as an assurance given in advance as an agreement to do something. A promise arouses a kind of hope in a person. It creates a ground for trust. It lays a foundation for love and bond between the two. If I give my word to someone then I must fulfill it, come what may. I must not give my word if I will be unable to. Even after I have given my word and I find that for some reason I will not be able to meet my commitment, then I must retrace my steps well in advance. The person to whom I have given the commitment I must not leave in a state of stagnancy. He must not feel betrayed. While in one case it creates a foundation for love and bond, in the latter case, it also creates a ground for bitter enmity.

I always try to keep a promise, no matter what. I think keeping your word is soo important, to others and for yourself. It's hard knowing alot of people just say empty things, a promise means nothing to alot of people. I mean what I say, because not being able to back it up shows what character someone is. One time I promised my friend we would play badminton on the next thursday afternoon. She was a bit wary, not knowing if we really would play and it would be embarrassing to carry around a racket and being stood up. We hardly see each other and don't contact each other by phone or online. So I was in wrestling season, I got sick after hurting my ankle- my immune system's sucky reaction to physical fatigue- and I was considering what to do. I went and played badminton of course. Minus telling her later about the situation, she was just really appreciative that I was there for her to play. It really touched me that she was someone who acknowledged people's lack of concern for a promise.

Promise is the word people use when they don't wanna do what are you asking for, but can't find a good excuse at the moment to don't do it. So they "promise" they will do, wishing they will be able to find the right excuse to don't do later ;) Have a nice time.

the promise, is a very complicated for me. I have often been confused with the promise. I often make a promise to make things better. if I can not keep it I always say try to keep their promises. I often feel depressed with all the promises I've made, especially for my son. I always promised not to cry in front of my son, but I always break them. and I always keep a promise to my son. I really do not want to violate the promise I have made, but sometimes I felt heavy with this situation. I often tried to hold back tears when in front of my son, but I can not. I am always told my son, that she was not crying because of sadness but with joy. that's all I can do for now.

A promise means something that you MUST say you are going to do. However, I have had far too many broken promises in the past that when people promise me something, I always take it with a pinch of salt now Usually, promises are made to escape a situation too, which is a shame because it makes the word lose all significance

The word "Promise" is a very important word. Once you made a promise to someone you are bound to a responsibilty and that responsibility is to fulfill the promise that you've made. When I made a promise to someone I always do my best to make it posible. Some people said that "Promises" are made to be broken that is because they didn't give any importance to what they've promise.

It shows how important your words to people when promise has been "uttered" and it shows how important that people to you if you keep your promise towards him/her. The importance of promised is how your personality be shown,it will make a good impressions to whole personality when promise dealt with reality. Happy mylotting! Thank you for sharing!

I will only utter that word 'promise' when I am sure I will keep it. When others promise me something I expect them to keep it too. But invariably that does not happen. With experience I know who will keep a promise and who will not which in a way reduces my frustration when promises are not kept.

For me the word promise holds a strong meaning, so I would never use it in vain. If I use the word promise it means that I really mean what I'm saying, and I'm not going to break it. Unfortunately for many people the meaning of this word is too weak, so they always break their promises

I did say a lot of time the word "promise" to my x-gl who loved me wihout hesitation! However, I let her down again and again... As you said, promises are not made to be broken, and I did take it seriously! Just reality is terrible. Maybe I was too young to make a girl promise! She left me silently and never came back! I didn't blame her, although it was not all my fault! From then on, I care my words a lot, especially "promise things"! I still make sb promise, but bear in my mind. Never let ohters know until I have done it well! Now, I promise myself that I will never let others down if the promise has been made!

Hey Sweet Missy, The word 'Promise' is of great importance to me. It's not a matter of ignorance and negligence. It's very serious matter. You should always try to keep promises and stay careful when promising to someone as to if you'll be able to keep it or not. Can you say confidingly that your negligence to your promise can dishearten someone and cause him/her to disregard you when you'll fall in the same situation. Have a nice day.

A promise is a vow, a pledge to do or not to do something. A promise must be taken seriously. The person that we give a promise to could be hopefully banking on it. Let's not let anyone down. However, because of human frailty, sometimes we are unable to keep a promise. Let's not run away from it. On my part, I'd own up to it and say. "I'm truly sorry." Then, I'd take positive steps to make up for it. Let's follow the golden rule and make our world a happier place. Have a happy day, cloud31!

I never utter this word before anyone. Normally I have seen that people utter this word to please and consulate other. Some people use this word to control the situation as the politician does before election. This word is useful to the politician. They most commonly use before the public because they know that it is very useful to win in the election. I also promise but soundlessly in mind. And I try my best to follow my promise. I think that promise is determination of mind. And the uttered promise is a show piece to please other.

the word Promise is meant to be an assurance of your word but I'm afraid it is misused nowadays. More and more promises are broken now. I've broken some promises too before but those are because of unexpected circumstances.

For me it's sacred so I never utter this word unless I am so sure that I will do my best just to keep this promise.
