Facebook Gem or Kink

Sorry for yesterday, I've totally forgotten about the t&c... Anyway, back to the topic on Facebook. Have you guys noticed that Facebook security has up its service. All of us have contacts in our contact list, right. We might add them for gaming purposes and stuff like that. But it doesn't mean that we would want to share photos with all our contacts. So lately, FB has it that you can choose from your contact list whom are able to view certain photos of yours. What do you think of this? A gem or just another kink? I think it's a gem. What's your take?

Its always good to have some privacy options especially in social sites like facebook else all our personal details and photos we share with our very friends might be in wrong hands and they might even spamm you.So i consider this move to be a Gem just like you bro.

Thanks bro for coming.. it's going to be a great weekend for you there?? What are your plans.. For me, yup, sometimes with all these viruses looming don't care the period for when..and spam too.. it can be cool to have some privacy options. Things might fall in the wrong hands if not handled correctly, so I know what you mean with that.

Hi Zed, I did observed and took it as a gem. however, i am not so much into the new features or development in facebook. i only use facebook to keep in touch with friends, hear more updates from them and see their latest photos but never did i play facebook games and other activities in there. of course it's nice to have this feature that only those that we want to see our photos can have the access. have a peaceful and blissful weekend my friend! is that you in the picture? nice one friend!

I think that's a gem too, msf. Thanks for coming to my discussion. Facebook games are really awesome and I love it too. I think there should be more security updates on FB that will be awesome for us to enjoy. And more games, LOL..but I don't want to be too addicted anyway. Heheheh, I shall let the mystery linger on for you...Thanks for saying it nice..

Hi zed, I'm sorry to learn that yesterday...yeah, let's forget about it. I'm rather sluggish and always the last to know the latest thing at the very last minute...(shrug)...especially those happen at FB site. I just log in there to play game for a ten minutes or so... I have only one profile photo there. I don't feel easy to share all our photos with others whom we are not familiar with though they are in our contact. That's why I feel reluctant to upload my photos there. if so, of course the kink has become a sparking gem now. So feel relaxed to upload as many photos as you wish now. I'm unable to peep any of your photos there now Happy posting!

I like to share what I know with my friends here. I hope my avatar appearing there would make the discussions to look more "attractive".......with the decoration of flower. Don't ever say that dear. It's okay. Yeah, I wanted to participate in then, but I was a step late... Take care

I'm sorry about it too, should you have answered.. Thanks for coming once more and I appreciate it, really. I try my best not to spend too much time on FB too.. anyway, it's getting too crowded there, and not so like it used to be so much. LOL.. but it's still alright in terms of games. I don't like sharing photos too..as long as they are people whom are laid-back and stuff like that. LOL.. but I think hackers are still able to check out photos if they want to, no matter how locked up they are. I think so.. I mean they wouldn't be called hackers then, heeheee... Have a great weekend, my friend..

Hiya zed, I have noticed that also and I like it... but I am not really into facebook these days... though my account is always log in... I will open my games only, fishville and farmville... I found it helpful because I can chat with my online friends while I am doing my games... I almost forgotten my mafia... I would just visit their to see my properties growing... Yes, it's a gem... :-)

Hello Zed, I am level 43 already in fishville hahahah. But I left my farm unplanted... I found it laborious. I have hundreds of unaccepted gifts in mafia---perhaps I should accept them now... everytime I visit it, I always discovered some improvements... maybe today I would play and I can even invite you in my mafia family. Castle age? I've heard of that, maybe I would make a try... Happy weekend to Zed... :-)

Oh, you like to play Fishville and Farmville..that's awesome. I used to play Fishville, but due to time constraint, I stick to Mafia Wars and now, I'm able to play Castle Age. It's a really cool game, introduced by my friend. Check it out if you have the time to. Chatting online.. I off the feature, because I know once I have it on, I'll become addicted, LOLz.... You should check out your Mafia Wars sometimes, maybe your properties are growing..and there's this new Chop Chop feature, hahaaa... Have a great weekend, prime..

Nope, not really. Im still sketchy about the whole Facebook thing. I do have an account now but I made it because of a class requirement. Im careful that I dont post my photos and any basic information about me. But, my friends do and it is frustrating at times. I have accepted that I cant ask them not to do that because its their own account and they have the freedom to do whatever they want to do with it. Anyway, there have been changes on Facebook over the past few months and the "security system" is a part of it. It is good that they are sensitive to the current issues about privacy and are taking steps regarding it. But, would I call it a "Gem"? Nope. I wouldnt call it a "Kink" either. I guess it does give the account owner the option of sharing photos exclusively to some people only, but it is really just up to the owner of how he/she will take this new feature. I still believe that whatever you post or upload on the internet, no matter how much privacy a site says they have, it would still be considered a public content. That's just me anyways.

You are right, Bj... it's sometimes so scary thinking about that. Because of hackers looming and all that.. I'm also a bit skeptical about all these issues and sometimes, videos are leaked and all that and that's a scary thought. I mean... whether the video is personal or not... it's up to the person to answer for their own actions..but some of them make the mistake of uploading it, thinking that it's safe, when in actual fact, it's not..because there will always be hackers around..and that's the scary thought. I think private viewing is meant not to be shared even on social networking sites. Not saying that Facebook is bad, but you are right. A site can provide the best security feature ever, but at the end of the day, it's the people whom choose to share with whom is the issue at hand. You can never know whom you can trust online sometimes with really private contents, if you know what I mean. Thanks for your answer here, Bj.. it's well-thorough.

I do know what you mean, Zed.^_^ If it's really private in the truest sense of the word, then it shouldnt be uploaded to any site for that matter.

I don't do Facebook as I've heard of too many privacy problems there. However, it sounds to me that this procedure would be a GEM!!! I think that the MORE ways you have to control your own security would make it safer. Of course there is always that fool out there who think they are invincible!!!

You don't do FB too, sweets..? Same like drannhh then.. you are not missing much, as I'd say above. Unless you are a game freako like me, heeehee... You are right.. a few weeks back, I received notification not to open up a link on the inbox.. as it contains virus. I don't know how true is that, but I dare not open it and just chuck it in the bin. Anyway, as much as I think FB can be cool, it's getting crowded nowadays. Too many people already..and the worrying is the virus part. Ugh..

No, I do NOT do Facebook!!! Since I've moved back to my hometown, I live about a mile from Dad & the rest of my family lives within only an hour drive away. Most of my family is old & gray & do not have a computer. So, as much as I despise writing letters, my family still corresponds the old fashioned way...via snail mail!!! Now, back to Facebook...I fear the viruses that are so freely shared. PLUS, my local news did a segment on Facebook games. I LOVE playing games!!! However, do you realize that every time you play a game, you are passing ALL your & your friends information on to somebody you've NEVER met??? Read ALL of this for more info on the dangers of Facebook... http://www.wyff4.com/lookingout4you/22510856/detail.html So, I've made a conscience decision to NOT open an account there so there is NO way I can become addicted!!! As quickly as I became addicted to the Lot, I fear that I have an addictive personality & would soon spend most of my days there. Due to ALL the above reasons, I just refuse to set myself up for the potential problems. Be sure to read down the above article until it tells ALL the information that is gathered there that you do not willingly offer!!!

I think it's a good idea, but I still don't add people I don't know to my Facebook. Once you do that, then you always have to worry if you shared your private info with the right people. But I do use the security features for certain things. Like most of my friends don't play games, and they get annoyed if they see too many "game" posts. So whenever I post something to a game, I customize who sees it so only my friends that play games see it. Otherwise, I have a second FB account just for games :) There I will add anyone who plays the games I play b/c I do not put anything personal up there at all, not even my name! I know that FB probably doesn't like it, but I have heard of people who have a dozen accounts! So I figure there's nothing wrong with me having 2 just to keep my Game stuff separate. It feels safer that way.

Oh, and ideally if FB really wanted to fix security, I wish they would let you play games with people without making them your facebook friends. I never understood that really. You should be able to befriend people in the game only and not link them to your profile.

It may take awhile, but I bet eventually Facebook will learn to somehow separate games from "friends". It would be better security for sure! A lot of people on my "gaming" account are willing to add me, and they still share all their personal info. I don't have anything personal on my gaming account but am often amazed how these people aren't worried at all about their privacy. Some have 100s of strangers as friends just to play games with

I think your idea is indeed a great one, vivasuzi. In that way, friends can check out your personal photos and whatnot..and the other account your gaming feature. I am very satisfied with your discussion answer here... it's the best so far. So yeah.. About that gaming part, you are right. So far, we can dis-include friends whom we don't want to on games. Like removing them from our friends list, but still keep them on the game. It's manually up to us for now. I think they will improve this in future. Hopefully. Thanks for your answer, have a great weekend to you.

So that, those underage users wont be able to see, what they wanna see after hearing from frenz.. lol =D

Hey there! Although I haven't separated my Facebook contacts into groups, I think this is a great new feature. I think it's good that we can have friends on there that are just for apps and don't have access to all our info. I think Facebook did good this time! For those of my friends who I know use this new feature, they've all given me positive feedback on it. Thanks for asking!

You are welcome, JJ. Yes, I couldn't agree more.. this is a 'neat' feature, for sure. Definitely awesome, because we can know for sure now which stuff we would like to share and which we do not want to.. I hope there are no glitches though, and so far it's been so good. Have a great weekend and thanks for coming to my discussion.

Hey Zed. I definately think that added feature on facebook is a gem too. There are some things you just do not want to share with everyone. I like facebook and just hope they keep getting better and better. The lastest I heard is a complaint about them not adding a panic button on the pages. I hope they do that soon. I think it is important. People on the internet really need to be policed just as they are in our countries.

Hi Zed, Never been on my account there for quite a while, I haven't checked on this one yet. I personally don't want my pictures seen by everyone, particularly those that landed on my friends list because of other friends (meaning I don't really know them), so for me, this feature is a gem.

Hi anak saudara, no issues. :) I dont go to facebook. It is not colorful - looks too messy and crowded. They need to make it neat and simple like mylot to tempt me. :) As to the feature, that one is a good one! Why should everybody who asks to be our friend get to see our photographs. Now, I will feel better to load some photographs there. :)

I'm on facebook but I haven't noticed this. I don't know what to think about it. It sounds more like a kink to me. I don't have very many photos on there but the reason why I say this is because I would like to be able to share all of my photos with all of my friends on there. I don't like the idea of adding friends on there just for gaming purposes, though. Kathy.

Kink to you.. ? I can imagine how it can be. Sometimes, it's not fair to others because sometimes family members and friends might get offended when there's an option or something.. just an example. So I can see where that kink comes from.. Thank you for your response..
