I am sick and tired of people who start sick and tired discussions!

Got your attention? Good. Many of us start discussions that in effect are a rant. We have something on our mind, and we need to vent. Hence the advent of the 'sick and tired' discussion. I have no problem with that when the rant is written in such a way that no one person here on the lot is targeted. What I do have a problem with, is newbies starting discussions, (purely I'm sure more for the sake of stirring the pot to get responses than anything else), that begin by targeting a specific member of our community. This is not only not nice, it's against the rules. And names don't have to be named for the veterans here to be able to 'read between the lines' so to speak. Those that have been here for some time, and survived past 'wars' and such, have learned to recognize this type of behaviour right off the bat. And it doesn't fly as we've all learned. I'm not targeting any one newbie in particular here myself, though some of you will be intelligent enough to recognize yourselves. But a few discussions lately have gotten up my nose, and you all know what happens when something gets up the spark's nose! lol The point I am trying to make is that a 'career' here on the lot depends on getting to know the community before challenging them, criticizing them, or jumping down the throats of responders whose opinion differs from their's. I know I've said it before, but it bears repeating, that this community of ours thrives on the closeness between the friends who come together here. We don't always agree, we don't always respond to all of each other's discussions........BUT we are there for our friends when we perceive an injustice and that will never change. Verterans here have earned their right to post a rant that responders can relate to on a personal basis....ie: one that has something to do with the behaviour on the lot. This is because we KNOW our audience, and they know us, and it's not taken as a personal attack. A wake up call at times maybe, but not a personal attack. Newbies on the other hand need to earn that right. They need to build a friends list of people they have taken the time to get to know and understand and vice versa. This is the secret of the lot and part of it's magic.......having friends you can count on to keep you on the straight and narrow, have your back, and respect your right to have a different view on any subject. So people, give your heads a shake................all together now, and let's shake hands and get back to giving each other the benefit of the doubt and taking the time to think before we type. I am now still tired, but no longer sick. How about you? LOL

Since I am not getting notifications, I do not know what is happening at all. I see the Lamb here, and I know someone was wondering where he was, and it was not even anyone on my friend list. I do thing that Sparks has said a mouthful, and is so right. It is not really appropriate to decide that someone is out of line and start a discussion finger pointing and complaining. I am usually willing to play nice with all the other friends on the Lot, and I hope others will be too. Otherwise it can be a cold and lonely place to hang around.

You're both right. There is no reason in the world we can't disagree without making it personal. I really get steamed when innocents are targeted and then the person doing the targeting plays all innocent themself. Shameful!

Oh you venerable ranting member you. I got called a liar this week - or was it last - anyway, they are an old established member here, much given to outspokenness and I know that she means me ill. So what could I do? Well I gave her BR of course. Not heard from her since. Be kind to be cruel I say!

hi sparky you should have the name sparkofsanity as I have read all of this and cou ld not have put this nearly as well as you have. that is so right the newones need to learn all of us before taking big liberies and putting their feet in their mouths. after onehas been here for quite a while you learn each other and make friendships and bonds that should not be broken. No personal attacks, just friendly warnings between friends who do know each other . we still respect each other and we stick up for each other two, but this has to be learned and earned too. Also perhaps the newcomers need to here this repeated, do not hit minus simply because the other person has a different view on any subject than you do, this is not what the minus is for, mylot admins stresses that but some newones claim to minus those who differ in ideas from theirs and unless its insultind it does not deserve to be minused. Also yes we should all think before we type, as my son always says be sure what you type is what you want everyone on the net to see, he is a smart lad.

Your smart lad has a pretty smart mom! And I'm sorry if you've 'lost' a friend recently Hatley. But you are MY friend too and I will always be there for you.

I haven't been on My Lot much over the past two weeks simply because I haven't had time. So I'm not really familiar with any particular individuals or discussions that are as you suggest. Certainly I remember from the not too distant past that some newbies have started discussions about various complaints, that I simply get sick and tired of responding to. They need a lot more experience here before they target My Lot, or any individual here. And of course, the usual problem of some people not being able to accept that some may disagree with them, is always going to be with us. I am ignoring these types of discussions at the moment.

I generally ignore these type of discussions too jenny. But the one that got up my nose was a deliberate swipe at particualr friends of mine, and the poster was wrong in their interpretation of my friend's comment to boot, and I couldn't let such nasty attacks pass without setting the record straight and defending my friends. Besides, it drew her fire away from my friends and on to me, and that I can handle much better than seeing my friends hurt..............

-Gives Sparks a soda to cool off- You see, it will wear off.. LOL. Ok, I feel so old already in the lot.. but never am tired with those whom are frequent here. Actually on a serious note, you are right. All should learn to get along, and even if there's a discomfort or anything like that, it can be done through private messages. A rant is good though....let it all out, you'll feel better..

And I think that new members in time will come to learn about the 'magic' of myLot.. that the veterans here are not out to 'eat' them, but to be their friends too.. not all newbies think that way of course. (for those whom think I'm generalizing all)..

Thanks for the soda handsome. I feel much better now. lol And you are right. Newbies and even people who have been here some time need to learn and be reminded that everyone here has a right to their opinion without disrespect running rampant. I just can't stand to see innocents targeted so someone else can score some points.......

Like I've said...........if you (the collective you, not YOU, you lol) are going to call someone out or jump on their opinion, be very careful who you are going after. It takes a bit of time and energy to get to know people here, but it's worth it. To behave as this particular user did is just wrong, and I thought we'd (the oldies here) had put an end to this kind of behaviour. But bad pennies pop up every day, and this one just happened to roll into the view of the wrong person! LOL

I get sick and tired of the crap on here sometimes too. And newbies asking about certain things that are in the guidelines. I get very aggravated with people that can read instructions, guidlines and rules before stepping into a situation. Then they wonder why people are getting on them or they are kicked off a site. Get a clue peops! These things are written up for a reason. So, rather than this, how ya be?

I be fine sweets, and much better now that I've gotten this out of my system (again! lol). I wish there was some way users could be blocked from posting until they've passed a test proving they have read and UNDERSTOOD the guidelines. lol Would save a LOT of aggravation in a lot of ways........

I feel the same way. And even get alittle irritated with foreigners as well. They write a post that doesn't make sense and then what are we supposed to do? I get tired of deleting them.

You see a great deal of these discussions on the--surprise, surprise!--politics and religion topics. I have no idea if people start some of these discussions just to get a rise out of other people (although sometimes it seems like it), but seriously, if you can't talk about politics and religion without going into attack mode toward other MyLot members, there are a million other topics that are less inflammatory that you can discuss and respond to.

My beef is not with those kind of discussions coolcoder. My beef is with users here who should know better, starting discussions disguised as one thing, but in reality a deliberate rant against another user or users for simply expressing an opinion they don't like, and being totally wrong in their interpretation of that opinion to boot! You go after my friends and you are in the wrong, and I'm going to set the record straight.............

I did a double take when I saw your title. I'm one here always starting rants in the form of discussions. Even though I'm still a relative newbie here, hopefully I've earned the right to rant a little bit for every curious happenings in my life. But, I agree that the newcomers should first earn their voice on the lot. I worked hard to get my rating to a respectable number, and I collected friends that I thought were interesting. I've learned to trust and earn their trust too. This way, I'd always have an audience whenever I make a rant on how sick and tired I am.

I can and do rant and rave myself, but it is either about something personal to my life, or in defence of others. What the user I'm so angry with did, is unconcionable and I couldn't let a good rant pass! LOL Your own response here bounce goes to prove exactly what I was trying to say, but you said it better. Thanks so much. And rant on anytime...............lol
