Go out more this summer

For some reason I didn't really go out much last summer, and so I hope this spring and summer we go out more. I'm looking outside now and it's such a beautiful day. I love how blue the sky is and the trees outside are just beautiful. It looks like a good day to be outside working in the yard planting flowers, I really want to do that. I'd like to go fishing and have a picnic. Anyone else looking forward to warmer and more beautiful weather? it's been beautiful this week except for a bit of rain, but today is real pretty.

Yes, I didn't get to go fishing as often as I would have liked to last year, so I intend to get more use out of our boat and go fishing more often this year for sure! Plus, I also didn't ride my horse as often as I should have last year, and I intend to make up a schedule to do it more often. It will be good for both of us. Spring has sprung fairly early this year, although we have been having a bit of a cold snap again for the past few days and had to turn back on some of the heaters we had been able to turn off for a couple of weeks. But otherwise, I am anxiously awaiting my first perennial bulbs to pop out of the ground and my daffodils, so I can put the wood chips all over the perennial garden agian to help prevent so many weeds. Less weeding means more time for fishing!

I'd like to take horseback riding lessons, the farm across from us offers them I believe, but I think it'd most likely be expensive. My dream is to one day own a farm but to be honest I'm not sure that I could handle it yet. I believe the dream will come true. Sorry for blabbing though... Hmm Fishing and horseback riding. I haven't talked to my husband yet about maybe going fishing more this summer but I will when he gets home, I'm sure he won't complain, he's been working hard and neeeds the rest and relaxation. I've seen wood chips in gardens but never realized they help prevent weeds! If that's the case we should try that here!

Yep! Big wood chips and lots of them, nice and thick. But I'm waiting till my first bulbs come up first, so I don't bury them, too. If I did, they would just take longer to fight their way through them, that's all. Part of the garden, around my perennial shrubs that are there all year, I put a layer of filter cloth down on the ground first, then put the wood chips on. That will pretty much stop ALL the weeds. The wood chips alone, only slow them down. But I can't put the cloth over my bulbs or I'll lose them for good. Yes, me and my husband enjoy fishing together quite alot. One of the reasons I want to do more of it. It is alone time, relaxing and fun, too, because we always bring home a good catch and are able to brag about it to our friends. Although, we usually share the feast with them if they didn't come along. You blab away anytime you like, my dear.

Thanks for the tip about the wood chips. As for fishing, my husband has fished before but I don't think he ever brought any home to be cooked, I don't know how to cook it and I doubt my MIL would want to. We'll be fishing with a friend though so he may take them, I don't know.

Hi, SomeCowgirl. I know that you will enjoy the warm weather when you go out. As for me, I am the opposite. Last summer I was out in the heat a whole lot for about 3 months straight. It was very miserable. I got a tan on my chest from walking and my kids skin also got tanner. I can't stand the heat. I vowed to myself that this summer, I will be indoors a little more. Last summer was very hot. It seemed like I had no relief no matter what I did to cool off. My in-law's air conditioner in the living room went out. This was the only one that they had. In the bedroom that we was sleeping in, was so very hot in the daytime. I was so hot and tired. Not even a fan would do! Never again!

I sure hope I will. Right now I am not sure how much we will be able to get out this summer, I know in the fall we will be going to the beach. Right now it's a bit windy and the sun has come out, it was rainy weather not too long ago. I think I prefer rainy weather sometimes over real hot weather, but hot weather has it's advantages as well.

I love being outside when it is sunny and mild in spring and fall but that is also when the pollen count gets worse :-( Summer can be opressively hot and that just is not fun at all.

Yes Pollen Issues and then way too hot isn't fun either. I remember a few summers ago I was working at a store to whom's air conditioner went out, when it was finally fixed it was ice cold which was better. I kind of liked it being hot though, we could sweat off weight haha, and drink at the registers even though regularly we weren't allowed too.

I guess coming out of a rough winter, and a wet spring, a lot of us tend to make a lot of plans for the summer. To enjoy it as much as we could doing all the activities we missed in the previous two seasons. So, same here. We already have camping plans for the summer. And first few weeks of summer, we will have a few family visiting. And part of the plan is a picnic near a lake they've already seen in pictures.

It sounds like you've got everything planned out. All we know for certain is that we are going to go to the beach most likely and that my husband and I are going to have a cookout with a friend of his. We also need to hang out more with other friends, etc. We always go to the same place on the Fourth of July so there's no planning there unless someone wants to do something different.

Its even better if you have someone to go out with. Like some friends to tag along, that way everything will be much more interesting. Bonding time together sharing the fun the excitement im pretty sure you will have tons of happy memories to share together. If your friends are not available you can try your family too it will make the family members closer to each other while exploring and having lots of fun;)

Hi, SomeCowgirl. Yes, I am looking forward to going out more during the summertime. Last summer, I was in the heat a lot and I ended up getting a tan. But this time, when I go out it will be when it is during the mornings and the evening when the sun has went down some. This week has been nice and pretty here too. I can tell its Spring time. I hope that you enjoy this lovely day.

I think it is going to rain here today, it surely looks like it. I'm hoping my husband and I can go out sometime this week when he's off and just enjoy the beautiful weather! I burn easily so if I go out when the sun is high and hot I'll need to lather some sunscreen on! Have fun out in the mornings and evenings, I love early morning summer and spring!

I know last summer we did not really go anywhere even though it is hard to go many places without much money, but hopefully we can go more this year, hopefully we will be going to the beach over the Summer, and we will be going to Craigs house one day and having a cookout, and going fishing, plus maybe we can get together with Rickey and Matthew, and go to the bullhole,or go somewhere else and hangout, and I can not wait for the warm weather, because it will be hot,but at least be different when I am outside pushing those blasted carts around all day,and today was a beautiful day when it finally warmed up,because it was cold this morning,I love you with all of my heart and soul.

We have a couple of public parks we visit, just to walk, and see something different. One park has a goldfish pond, and another has swans, geese and ducks. There is a park with a walking path around a lake that is nice as it goes by the ball diamonds.Even when the weather is really hot it always seems cooler at that park. You are right that you can do things that do not cost a lot, but give a change of scenery and let you be together.

There are things we can do though without needing much money or any at all. I do want to hang out with our friends and go fishing or something. Maybe one day when both you and rickey have a day off we can just go out for a day and have fun. Drive around and go fishing, have a picnic etc. I know you hate it when it's hot and your working but when your not we can always go do something fun, maybe even if it's just take a frisbee and throw it around. I do want to go to the beach this year too!

I didn't care so much when I was young because I lived in Brazil and there's beautiful and warm days almost all the year... However, since I moved to the north hemisphere, I started to miss these days, specially in winter time, so I tend to profit a lot during spring and summer :)!

As much as I want to go out this summer, I can't. I can't leave my mother who has cancer and she always feels too weak to go out. That's why my summer is like last year where I just stay at home and take care of her.

I would love summer if it weren't for two things - oppressive heat and tornados. The heat goes well past 100 degrees, plus humidity that just makes me want to drop as soon as I step outside. And usually from May to even September, we have tornado warnings all the time, and a lot of those warnings turn into actual tornados.
@SomeCowgirl (32191)

27 Mar 10
Yea I wouldn't like temperatures that got up that high or constant tornadoes, I'd be afraid I wouldn't be able to do anything because of those two things. We have tornadoes maybe a few a year, but it never gets up that high, or if it has it's very rare! If it didn't get that hot where you are I don't think it'd be that bad, I'm not really sure what causes tornadoes so I don't know if the weather has something to do with or not... lol.
• Canada
27 Mar 10
Oh, dear! Tornadoes? We have had a seldom few here and only very small ones. And I also hate the extreme heat. When it gets to 90 degress Farenheit, I am just toasted and exhausted. Don't want to do anything, but lie around and find somewhere cool and something cool to drink. I get heat stroke very easily, so I really have to watch it when I have to work in the heat. So, I try to do most of my work in the morning and evening hours

It was beautiful out today! I hope that my severe depression and social anxieties will allow me to get out. This winter was no fun with a bad attack of SAD I had. I am so looking forward and enjoying the spotty amount of warm weather we have had so far. I hope to get out and enjoy our greenbelt on my mountain bike. Hope you have a nice Spring and Summer!!
