So our nephew Nick is here for a visit. It's kind of like having triplets - on turbo power - because he's just a few months older than the twins and hyper. All the kids like him, but Naomi and he hit it off particularly well.
So they're outside swinging and they're overheard talking. "When I grow up, I could be your husband." "Yeah, when I grow up I could be your wife."
My gosh, not only are they related on Richard's side (first cousin) but on my side too (second half cousin - don't ask lol). A little too much inbreeding for me...

If they get divorced are they still cousins? LOl just kidding. I agree with your other response, don't put too much into this kind of crush. By this time next year (possibly next month) they probably won't even be interested in hanging around together. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Hi p1kefIsh, :( I dont think I am crazy. :( As yet. LOL. Anyway, drawbacks are definitely there, genes are definitely weak. Muscular, circulatory, and nervous system - bad. Thinking process is erratic, at times I can be brilliant, at other times I can break guiness record in stupidity. The later is more than former. Memory is not very good. The specimen (that is me) does not cope very well with stress. Can really be angry, but never enough to break another person's bones, but that may be because of reflex and muscular problems. Positives, I have yet to discover, when I will, I will let you know. :)

hi dawnald oh wow that would be a bit of a close inbreeding would it
not, but like most little children I do imagine when they reach the
'age to marry, they will both be taken by other people completely.
Look at at my hubby and myself, he came from Washington state, I came from South Dakota , and we married in Tempe Arizona and when the children were little we moved here to California. in my own family tree on my mothers side first cousins my great grandparents were married, and their brother and his sister were also married on the same day. but their children were all intelligent, So sometimes first cousins can marry and no harm done. what always slayed me was she was only 15 and he was twenty when they married and had seven children. my gr gr grandparents had 13 children and she looked so sour in a photograph I got of her, I had to think those 13 were too much for her, she had a child every year for 13 years. wow.

I am always amused at families to whom's grandparents or great grandparents had many children... My great grandmother had seven I believe? My husband's great great great great grandmother had 11!
I don't think I could raise that many children!

People use that term alot when they are talking about people from Tennessee. There are some here but i don't like for them to put us all in that category because we are from here.

So, how does this work out then, are you and Richard related? Somehow? I am confused. They would be even more confused. I actually had a cousin try to hook me up to her older brother at a family reunion. I replied to her little comment "He LIKES you", "Of course he likes me, I am his cousin." I am sure they will outgrow this. Just exploring the ideas.

I would consider it as a child's play. I would not be preoccupied about that. Children can be sweet. I have started a discussion on a similar theme though a bit different. I consider that relationships between cousins depends on social acceptance. Certain cultures accept it as normal while in others they do shun them.In my country I learned that cousins did marry cousins, though it is not much practised nowadays. People married cousins for quite a number of reasons. One of them to maintain family wealth in the same family. Other reasons were lack of social interaction. I think people can mix more easily nowadays, The internet is serving as a dating agency as well and you can meet several people from different countries, traditions, religions and beliefs. The only objection that I might find to cousins getting marries is in case they ll have problems when having children. I don't find it morally objectionable at all. It is not an incest in my opinion. However if I were you I would not worry too much, kids do play like that.

I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point - they will probably hate each other in a few years...
Besides, they could always move down south to a state where it is legal for first cousins to marry...
Honestly, I really wouldn't put kiddy crushes in the same league as even teen crushes...

Ya might be a redneck if...
Try this one on for size, my uncle almost married my grandmother
I also have a distant cousin whose parents are related...
Doesn't phase me one bit.
We told our friends (hubby and I) that we were related just to spook them!
ah but they're just kids, being cute is all, you know they'll grow out of it!

Make sure you let them know, if you ignore this attraction thinking it's just kid stuff it could bite you in the butt later on. I remember my Uncle always said he'd wait to marry me as soon as I was grown, I never really forgave him whe he got married to someone else. Even after it was explained to me why I couldn't marry him.
