Best Responses and Votes... Just my thought!!!

Hello my friends... I had been thinking about this for a week or so. I don't know whether this idea has been discussed earlier or not, which is why I hesitated for a week to write this post..
Many of us know the 'Best Response' system here on myLot. It is actually a very helpful technique to let people know that their responses have been helpful to the author of the discussions! Will it be possible to increase the ranking by '1 point', when a post is selected as the Best? I mean, by declaring a post as the 'best response' the author of the discussion actually approves that post, right? So, why not reward that approval by a point in the rankings too? Just my thought...
What do you think, my dear myLotters? Will it work successfully? What are your ideas about this? Please share... I also hope, the admin will consider about this... Thank you!

Hi mr_pearl,
It is a good idea though.
But it is also might create another problems. There are a lot of possibility that the best response mark being used (or misused) to improve certain members rating. Since the best response mark are the propriety of the discussion started, he or she might use it to raise his or her friends rating without giving a due consideration to other responses.

Hello Friend, thanks for sharing, first of all...
Oh yes, I have thought about it and I have a solution for that too... We can divide the rights to decide the 'Best Response' between the author and the Admin of myLot... How does this sound? It'll just add a little more work on the part of the Admin, but it'll make myLot more attractive and eventfull.... What do you think my friend... ???

It would be a good idea if myLot admin agree with that. But, I do not think they would. I am not trying to belittle your idea but look at the situation around here.
There are hundreds if not thousands of new discussions created by myLot members in a day and if myLot admin agree with you, they need more staffs then what they had now to do it. They need to read every single posts in every discussion and some discussions has a lot of responses, even reach hundreds of responses. It would be a big burden for myLor admin to do it.
That is only my opinion. You may try ask it from myLot admin to get the correct answer.

akuler, you've made some very good points.
mr_pearl, the concern that this will be abused is a valid concern. I see why you suggest having admin involved, but akuler is also right in that we'd have to add staff to accomplish a task such as this. I think we'd rather pass that money on to you for your participation.

I really don't know---I give best responses a lot but if making a point is all they are after it isn't worth it.
I also get best responses and I don't care if I get a point or not either.
I just enjoy giving advice, taking it and sharing it.
If I get a best response I always thank the person who gave it.
That is it for me !

Hi,It is a good idea to reward the recipient of best response .But honestly I am one of those who rarely gives BRs , not unless the choice is obvious.The reason is because i find it difficult to select from among the responses.many mebers give excellent feed back and responses and I feel that selecting any one among them would be unfair, so I never give out BRs...

Hi Kiran... I agree with you that it is really hard to select a Best Response, unless there are some specific reasons... I myself have always found it so hard, so far... Anyways, I have already come to know that this idea isn't implementable, as there is money involved... So... Let it be!!!

Hmm..that is good idea, but the rating system has it is own system and it is hard to change it. Just keep response and i think you will raise your rate mr_pearl. Good luck.
