Green mangoes

Green mangoes from local orchards are now seen in the market. Ripe mangoes are also there but not local so costly now. My son brings green mangoes whenever he goes to get vegetables. My daughter in law makes ‘chutney’ from it , she peels off the skin, adds salt, sugar or jagerry (gud) and grinds them to a rough thick paste, yummy, we all like this. Another great use of green mango, if you have heat stroke (sun stroke), put a green mango over fire for few minutes, mesh it, add little black salt, one feels comfortable soon. Did you face sun stroke ever, try this. Do you like green mangoes or eat ripe mangoes only? Try this chutney. Prof

I love ripe mangoes more but I also like green mangoes especially the raw mango juice. Thanks for those tips you've given. I will try them. We have mango tree in our front yard and it is teeming with fruits now so that the passersby and even some of my neighbors could not help but steal when we are out for work. Yesterday my husband harvested lots from the tree and he distributed them to our neighbors. They were all very happy. Well my husband was just showing that we are sharing anyway so they don't have to steal anymore.

Hi Professor, I too love mangoes. We have 3 different varieties of Mango trees in pour compound. One is used for making pickle and the other two are very tasty. We have already got the first yield from one of the trees ,.It is called Neelam. The other variety is a local mangalorean variety found mostly in the western coast called 'Mundappa' and this is a very tasty mango, almost perfect in taste. They ripen later in May and June.I too make chutney with green chillies ginger and coconut, which is also very tasty.I also make panna with half ripe mangoes, excellent for summer

My mom is from the West Indies and she LOVES mangoes so did my late father. but when I asked if she ate green mangoes, she said "Oh Yes" so I repeated about how your daughter in law makes chutney out of it; she said yes, she has had that. Interesting. Didn't know about the green mango for heatstroke.

Hello Sir, Here green mangoes are also costly now and ripe mangoes are also available in market but too costly. Ripe mangoes will be available in abundance from next month onwards and we can have the same in cheaper price. When I see the mangoes I member about my village and I feel to buy the same. I am preparing the chutney and curry in (different types). My hubby like the ripe mangoes, which also use to make curry (sweet dish). Mango shake is my favourite preparing the ripe mangoes by adding sugar and milk which is very good in summer to cool our body.

I like green mangoes. They are my favorite food. Especially when you have an anchovy paste or salt as a dip for the mangoes. They are really delicious. Green mangoes that are from the Philippines are really good. Not only green but also the ripe ones and the dried ones.

I So love green mangoes since we're in a tropical country, green mangoes are very common. In my aunt's house in the province they have a mango tree that bears lots of fruits during the summer season. I love making green mango shake and sometimes slicing them and dipping it in a shrimp paste. We also make them into a salad but I love making it into a mango shake especially if you're out on the beach.. ;)

I love green mangoes. They are actually sour but I love eating sour fruits. I like to eat it with some salt and sometimes with some vinegar ans soy sauce. Its not good for the body cause they are really acidic but I really like it and I eat it once in a month. I also eat ripe mangoes but I prefer the green ones. Ripe mangoes are good if you make a shake out of it.
