How is your tap water?

Every were I ever lived I drank the water from the tap and it tasted good. I've lived here for almost 8 years now and lately the water smells and tastes weird. Twice I made coffee now and had to dump the pot be course it tasted bad....sometimes I don't run it long enough I guess. We buy gallons of water just for drinking but it would take an awful lot of water to make coffee every day. Do you have problems with your water? Any suggestions for some kinda water purifier?

The only way that I drink the tap water here is through our water filter. I just don't trust the water to drink it straight out of the tap. We have an Amway water filter that is under the sink but I have also used the Brita water filter years ago when I was single. I loved it.

Then I would just get something small and inexpensive like the Brita filter. It's so easy to use and you'll always have a pitcher of fresh water in the fridge.

I'm debating if it's worth it for me to get a water filtering system since I hardly ever drink water except for using it to make coffee

Hi, missybear. Clean tap water is not avaiable here. The water through the iron pipes may contain biological and chemical contaminating agents which are bad for people's health, or even cause waterborne disease. Besides, I don't like the taste of fluoride. We use water filters to clean up the water, but it's still not clean enough to drink. So we boil it to make sure it's safe to dirnk.

Oh, I don't mean to scare you. Since you can use water purification devices to make it safe to drink, please don't worry. Cause water is so important that all living things need it, including you. :)

Tap water here is in pretty good shape. No smells or weird tastes that I'm aware of. I do remember visiting my family in Florida once and their water was just awful. It smelled like sulfer. Really strong. I'll never forget it and I was pretty young last time I was there. I have heard of Brita as a water purifier but I don't have one myself so I can't really suggest a good one.

Hi Missy, Our tap water is fine. It can be drank since it is safe. however, we want to be sure---we are drinking mineral water. we are paranoid about our water. to be more safe we prefer the mineral water.

Tap water is more than fine around here I would think. There are other places that might not be quite as lucky. Still it tastes good enough. Tastes a bit better when I am realizing the money that I am saving when using water straight from the tap as opposed to drinking and purchasing water in bottles or galleons. Still it is has happened a time or two. It could be a problem with the sink. That seems to be a case. Something about the taps could be off. There could be some kind of mold build up or something. Or the pipes, that is another one. Of course that can be a headache and expensive if there is something wrong with the plumbing. However nine times out of ten that is the problem, it would be with the plumbing with various types of build up contaminating the water.

I'm sure the pipes are old, I think these apartments been around for 30 some years so I know the pipes are just as old.

hell0 there! well, guess that you have been to places with really qualitative tab water, because not everywhere people can praise with water like that :) here in my country Bulgaria it really depends on that where do you live and also how many reservoirs there are in the area, because the more they are, the cheaper the tab water is and also the better qulity it has, just because there is a great choice between several reservoirs and not just one. for an example- my home town lies on the Danube- the second biggest river in Europe, it is a small town, but there are one more smaller river, calls like my town LOM, and also some other artificial reservoirs like dam lakes, which people use to have their tab water. well, the water in the town is really good and "soft", there is limestone only very rarely(don't know do you actually knows, but there is a limestone in the tab water from time to time, because of the bad water quality in the reservoirs), which is good because limestone in tab water causes gravels. which is really very unpleasant. So with one sentence- the water in my home town is really good and I like to drink it! But now I live in another town, I moved up here several months ago. there is only one dam lake here and one small river, which the town use for its needs. So that's why the water is more expensive and what worse is, is that the water has a bad quality. almost everybody in this town buy bottled water because the tab water is full of limestone and some other constances, which make it not that good for consumption and this water causes gravels in more than 55% in the cases of people, who drink it every day for more than 4-5 years, which is really very bad. So that's how the situation here in my country is. hope I was helpful here!

Our lake is way down too due to little rain last year but it's getting better this year. I guess boiling the water might be the solution for now.

We can't drink the tap water directly. We have to boil it and then drink it. I love China

Our water supply is not really safe. Sometimes I could see some signs of rust on the water. It is really not safe for drinking. I buy bottled purified water in our area and it is delivered to our house. The water supply in our piping system is usually used for washing, and cleaning as well as bathing. Perhaps it would be important to verify your source and see if filtering system would be appropriate. Otherwise, its better to buy purified drinking water.

Hi, missybear. My grandma's water taste very nasty. The water company already did an analysis on her water. But it still taste nasty. She makes some good old Kool-Aid from this water too. Where I live at, the water tastes pretty decent. It does not have that funny taste. You may need to buy you an Brita Water Purifier. This may help you, I hope that it does. My aunt taught me to boil water when it taste nasty. And then let it get icy cold in the freezer. I hope that this will make you water taste better. You can put it into jugs and pitchers.

Never thought about putting it into the freezer. When I make kool- aid it tastes all right but just the thought of how it really tastes makes me not wanna drink kool- aid either.

Hey missy! I don't mind the water where I live! I drink it right from the tap! I don't believe in buying bottled water because I don't believe that the water comes from "springs" or anywhere except tap to begin with! I think it probably is just filtered water! I used to have a Brita Pitcher which was ok, but to me it was just a waste of money for the filters! There are alot of those types of products that you can get if your water is really that bad! They have lots of different ways to filter water now! Just look online! The Brita Pitchers aren't that expensive if you really want to invest in filtered water! The sell them in Department stores!

In my country we are able to drink the tap water. It has happened a couple of times that there has been problems with the tap water in some parts of the country, but most of the time we can drink the water without any problems. We never boil the water or use a purifier, it isn't neccesary. I have visited other countries where I haven't been able to drink the tap water or brush my teeth in the tap water, but I tend to forget that it not safe to drink the water, because I am used to living in a country where we don't have that kinds of problems.

Well, the tap water here is good but we do not drink it directly just to be on the safer side. We use activated charcoal to purify it and then, boil it and we consume- it is rather tasteless - but water in my grandma's house - in a village - you can taste the purity in it. That is what I call WATER.

Hi friend, Let me tell you, the place where i am living has terrible tap water. contains so much minerals, irons, dust etc. We use ironil(Candle to remove iron) before our home based RO system, to make that water portable, so that we can drink it safely. We use Eureka FORBE's RO system and we are very much satisfied with its performance.

Our drinking water here is supplied everyday by a truck. So far it taste so fresh and good. Our water for bath and washing comes from electric pumping. Sometimes it smells like iron but sometimes it don't smell bad that I can do my toothbrushing. I can imagine your problem that even it is boiled already but still tasted bad. That might bad to your health also. Try to look at the store and better look for water purifier.

i live in Pakistan and in my country tap water is not good for drinking . Here it has lots of impurities in it that drinking plain tap water can cause dihera and gastro . so here we use filtered water from filtered plants . and some also boil water to make it safe . i will say you should go for filtered water or you can also boil your tap water. whatever is more comfortable for you.
