Do you agree that elections bring negative image for our country and the politicians are bad influences to the future leaders (children) ??? It's like fiesta on every street coz the campaign paraphernalias are like decors and there are some like banderitas from post to post or with the electrical wires. And almost all politicians now are running with dirty politics in their mouths.

I agree...however, on the other hand, it's inevitable so I have learned to live with it, and survive, and do something concrete by volunteering to ensure that the elections would be clean, credible and peaceful...that's the most I can do for our ailing country, instead of feeling miserable about the black propaganda and dirty politics orchestrated by supporters and political candidates alike. Further, I also ask my family to pray for our country, especially at this critical times. Let's act instead of merely reacting.

yes, this election shows how rotten our government and our politicians are but we have to overcome this. we have to be wise and we have to watch everything in this very important part of Philippine history.

Hi Alphenor, Election is the best way for the common people to practice their rights, I personally think this is the most important right every citizen is entitled to, and shouldn't misuse. If the people have a good sense to choose the right person, good for the country. If not, it's still a choice that the people made, and we have to respect that. I am praying that this elections will pave the way for a better Philippines, less corruption, less poverty, less unemployment, better educational system, most importantly, less evil among leaders. Tall order? Maybe, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I wont hate it because it offers another opportunity to choose another set of leaders to rule the nation and should be taken seriously and wisely to spare the Philippines from further humiliation. Politics is not bad, it's the views on it that make it bad, the same with public service, there's nothing wrong into it, it's the circumstances and public servants that make it look like a monster. We cannot escape it, it's part of the dignity of a civilized society, you must face it, no matter how disgusting the issue and controversies surrounding it, because we are part of this event, no matter how we tried to deny. We are part of history because we exist, otherwise we ceased to breath if we don't know how to face it. Elections are always part of democracy and anybody who hate elections are not part of a democratic society. Election events are not bad if we just treat it as a vehicle of change, another opportunity to exercise our freedom and right as a decent citizen of this nation.

It's the normal scenario here in our country and expect the unexpected. Those posters on electrical wires or so are really everywhere and we cannot do something unless we ourselves can do something about it. Just do pray that this coming elections will be peaceful one and no cheating will happen. This will be the only reason for me to be sad, if ever something illegal happens. But I still hope for our country to get through this crisis. We better exercise our rights to vote and do not let anyone buy your dignity by luring you on promises and money. Happy Mylotting.

Well, there are still politicians out there who do not participate in the mudslinging and just prefer to do their thing, tell the people what they would do and just go out and campaign.. I think elections in all countries almost always brings out the bad in people, it's not really limited to our country at all. All we can do is just really try to vote for the best person for the job and hope that sooner or later it would all be for the greater good of our country.

hello alphenor, frankly speaking i hated it too because you see those who are blinded, deceived, who lacks criticism on they're own candidates. basically people are divided when ever there's election. but i hope things will go back to normal after the election because it's gonna get ugly if people won't concede

I agree with you on the negative side of how our elections are being done here. A lot of the candidates running here in our country are traditional politicians. They promise a lot of things but never fulfill them once they are elected. It is just sad to see how low our politicians can get just to get the votes of the electorate.

everything are innovating.... 10 years ago cellphones where just analogs, now you can even surf the net and watch TV on it... same with this 2010 election. Campaigning now a days have innovated. Candidates are even campaigning here at the net. But the only thing that doesn't improved is the way the citizen choose their candidates. it's so bad.

I'm actually amazed on how this election has less trash (i.e. posters, flyers and stickers) compared to the past elections. But then, a lot of politicians have discovered the magic of the television. If you go watch a local channel, there's no chance that you wouldn't see or hear a politicians campaign. It's annoying. Knowing just how much you spend to get that much airtime proves that this one used millions to win, and who would do that just so they could serve the country? Of course they plan on getting it back once they win.

I don't think the election brings negative image for the country. If we need to point, I think our fingers should be at the politicians themselves. There are laws that have to be followed in posting campaign paraphernalias like the prohibition against posting to public properties. Should there be something good to be realized for this happening, then it would the idea of not to vote for the violators of law.
