I've been hypnotized

i never believed hypnosis 'til the day my cousin hypnotized me. it was 3 yrs ago, actually, but to this day i still can't believe he did it to me, a non-believer. it was afternoon. we were having a chat about stuff and the conversation led to hypnosis. he said he was learning it and wanted to try it to me. i said i don't believe it but he insisted so i obliged, thinking i'd just prove him wrong by showing to him afterwards that it has no effect on me. so i lay down on the couch with my eyes closed. he seated himself just by my head while he said stuff. all i can remember was he was making me feel relaxed and then everything i heard next was nonsense. i think it was a story about a sheep. anyway, when i woke up, he asked me how i'm feeling and i said fine. then he clapped. to my surprise, i raised my right hand up in the air, all the fingers were down except the middle. you know what that means, right? lol. i asked him how he did it and he wouldn't tell me even to this day. he just clapped and clapped and i kept doing it and it's annoying. not only that. whenever he catches me hanging out with friends he'd clap and i'd do it but with resistance. but then my friends would think i'm out of my mind or something. i came back to his place one day to knock it off and fix whatever damage he did to my mind. we did the same routine, me lying down, etc.. and it was gone. right now i'm still looking up on various techniques of doing hypnosis and i haven't been successful so far. do you guys believe hypnosis? have you ever been hypnotized before?

I have never have been hypnotised but I am divided on whether it is the real deal or not but I do believe in the power of suggestion. I know people who have been hypnotised to help give up smoking but they said it did not help but there are some who swear by it. The only kind of hypnosis I have witnessed is a stage hypnotist and while the show was fun and thoroughly entertaining, I have my doubts. As far as I know the guy just selects people from the group who he knows will play along and are game.

The method the stage hypnotist do to get guests on stage is called suggestability test. It measures how prone to suggestions the audience are. After he narrow them down to those that are highly suggestible, he choses among those who will come up on stage with him. I hate the fact that I belong to the highly suggestible class.

Nothing wrong with being the highly suggestible type as they are the most fun when they are on stage

I don't know I would have to see it to believe it. I would have to have my wife go and watch or something to see if I was really hypmotized she is the only one I could trust to tell me the truth about weather or not the hypmotist was was able to hypmotize me or not. I am really kind of skeptical about it, but it helps to hear that it actually worked for someone.

I don't need you to believe in me. If you don't that's fine. But you can always go to the nearest hypnotherapist to try if it really works. Bring in your wife with you. :)

I know it is possible to hypnotize someone but I have never had it done to me and I dont think I am ever going to attempt it .I think it is dangerous to let anyone into the recesses of your mind .Imagine the suggestions they could plant there if given a chance.I think many persons have been forced to do things by this method

People running for president use mass hypnosis to get the mass' interest and vote for them. They may say it's just a speech but the speech has a lot of suggestions embedded within it.

Yeah, i've heard of this. They use hypnosis for surgery and medical stuff. It could lessen expenses of course like anesthesia and it also makes full use of our mind.

that funny, you must be believer now. I believe in hypnotized because I think certain people have that ability. Recently in my city they open hypnotized school and i see so many people interested in it. I have not been hypnotized and I hope never. I try to concentrate in every thing I do and I don't like a stranger touch me or shake my hand.

Just be careful if you don't wanna hypnotized by others. The experts say that concentration can lead to hypnosis as well. You could be hypnotized in no time if you're too concentrated on what you do. They say it's a form of self-hypnosis.

It could be a fatal mistake to overlook what hynosis could do to us...At first, I must say that I don't believe in it as well..but after some time and especially after I catch a glimpse of what our brains can do, I started to believe that hypnosis is in fact a science and especially it is a technique to play with our sub-concious mind in shallow definition..and now I consider it as an art...but I believe as well that cause and effect will take place even more aggresive if we dare to abuse its power..

I don't believe hypnosis and its not happened to me yet but to my friend. While she's walking in the road she meet a guy asked for help, as conversation goes on she went home with that guy, gave him a snack then she open the vault as the guy said got all the jewels and cash and went away.

In your friends case, it's not hypnosis anymore. It's about having a way with words to get what the person wants. It's simply lying.

No I have not been hypnotized at any time, but I do believe in hypnosis. I have seen several acts where people go in a trance like state and do whatever they are asked to do. I too have not understood how they manage to do it.

It wasn't fun for me, though. I was humiliated for like a week. It was embarrasing what he did to me in front of my friends everytime.

I can't really say that I believe in it, but I know that it may used to treat psychological illness. It's in the books, but then I haven't seen nor experienced it yet. I've only seen it in movies. Well, I'll be able to find the truth in hypnosis. You're lucky you've proven it yourself.

If you're curious enough to find out if it's true or not then you can search about articles of it. What they show in the movies are too exaggerated.

My sister says it's for weak-minded people only to get hypnotized. But I'm not sure. In my opinion, anyone can be hypnotized, though some people could resist it even in their subconscious state... I have never been hypnotized nor do I want to. I would rather practice it myself. So, was it impossible to shake off that habit/event by yourself?

I have never been hypnotized. I have often wondered if it really worked. It seems hard to believe but I suppose there are a lot of things that are hard to believe until they happen to you. I would be afraid they would have me barking like a dog or strutting like a chicken. I saw a hypnotist do that to a couple of people in front of an audience once on TV.

I believe in hypnosis, but I've never experienced it. I ever saw a man asleep on a bus and was unconscious when he brought up all stuff he hand it over to someone else. Science of hypnosis is often used for things that are incorrect in my country, so it requires our vigilance against foreigners who patted our shoulder or stare at us.

Good thing it's like that in your country. Here, people could just put their arms around your shoulders and they'll just think it's weird.

Hi Frontvisions, Yes, hypnosis is true. I've had it in one of my Psychology classes (I majored in Psychology), my professor actually lectured on how to do it, it's benefits, when and when not to do it, and she did an actual hypnosis session on some of my classmates. It was both interesting and fun, and a bit scary too.

Yeah it was interesting for me too when this happened. I was shocked to know that I was hypnotized. I didn't believe it but I guess it's true. Yeah, turns out that hypnosis is also being used in medical terms too. I've found out some valuable uses of it. They say it's fun to learn hypnosis, though. I can't see the fun in it cuz it's too hard.

I do believe in hypnosis. A matter of fact, i had been learn it, when i was a teenager. But unfortunetly not successful, because i learn it from some books not from a teacher. And also, to learn it need high concetration and patience. According to these books. Hypnosis is the power of mind, which is conveyed trough suggestion into person unconscious mind. However, it should be by willingness of the person who will be hypnotized. If she/he refuses, it will not work. Can do hypnosis must be very cool. Maybe i should learn it again.

I've never been hypnotized, but I think it could have many benefits, like peacemaker said. I've read a little on it, as I'm curious about the human mind, how it works, what makes it tick, etc. I think I might like to be hypnotized someday. I also would like to look into other such things as out-of-body experiences, things of that sort. I'm very curious about things that it seems many people would not even consider being a possibility.

There are a lot of hypnosis articles that tells about its different uses like improving memory, taking care of those mild headaches, etc.. I've been learning since that day and I have never succeded in hypnotizing someone. I've gotta say, the human mind is a very complex thing. Only those that have been working on hypnotherapy are the ones that can understand this fully.
