Probably most women need sleep most of the time than men since most women tend to do multi-tasks so their brain need a lot of rest than men could handle. Let say most men could stay much late at night longer than women. While sleeping pattern varies according to ages and body needs. It may also depend on the job and if there is a need to do a lot of decision making. As per own observation with your partner, sibling or other people around you. Who sleep earlier than you, your men or women companion? Who need sleep most of the time? The ages may have something to deal with it. So it is a known fact children need a lot of sleep for more than 10 or 12 hours since they need it for growth while most adults already reach puberty and so could manage to have their sleeping pattern adjust according to their needs. Somehow sleeping pattern between the two genders differs. How about you from your own observation who need to sleep most of the time, women or men? Kindly shares your thoughts. Thank you:) 5-18-10 22:11

Well, i dun really know who needs more sleep between the two.. haha =D I think alot depends on the workload of either party.. THere are some cases whereby the wife is working and the husband is a home-daddy.. As such, the husband is multi-tasking at home and so need more sleep?? hehe ^_^ THUs it's gonna be difficult to judge upon who needs more sleep, but when it coems to age, it's much more easy to differentiate.. hehe

hi kun, It say from the articles which I just read most women tend to do multi-tasking so their brain needs a lot of sleep while most men tend to ages faster than women. maybe it could relate for it and look per observation most women tend to live longer than men.. Yeah, it could also have to do with work load or whatever if their is an opportunity to get sleep most takes advantages of it whether it ranges from good rest sleep or just simple napping. it both help somehow...thanks.

Ohhh speaking of slleping, my husband sleeps like a log. He enjoys to sleep more rather than to eat or stay awake to watch because he works in a call center so it was really beneficial for him to sleep. But even if he was still in College, he told me that he still does like to sleep no wonder he grew taller than his friends and also tallest in their family at the height of 6'1. I sleep less. If I hear any noise, I can easily wake up. I do wake up earlier than my hubby too because I fetch water in the morning because our water supply is with a schedule, it comes in the morning so i'd be filling up the tank and every bucket in the bathroom and store water. So if you ask who sleeps better, it will be my hubby, not me.

yeah, depend on the severity of the need to sleep and a matter of being tired from work that could be a good basis. So far the level of stress could also be a good precursor whereas other makes an excuses to sleep just to escape the mundane activities. Also a good way to recharge after a hard day work. thank.

we are beginning to understand the importance of sleep to overall health and well-being. In fact, when people get less than 6 or 7 hours of sleep each night, their risk for developing diseases begins to increase. so i think both men and women should get enough sleep especially those who have loads of works done everyday.

I also observe having headache then feel dizzy if I lack enough sleep. So sleeping at the right time is very important to keep healthy and for longevity. It also known that sleeping makes anyone look young to avoid having a haggard faces. it also relax the mind rest the body then cultivate a good mood. It also calm the mind makes anyone waking up with smile. Over sleeping is not good too it may only makes anyone feel weak i think so . Just maintaining a good balance of sleep is the key.

Children needs to have a complete sleep it is required for them to grow faster. I sleep completely when i was young but until now I hasn't grown . It really depends of what type of jobs a person has. Some people have different time slots, and some are very busy. It is depend on their availability to sleep the time of their sleeping. Others do that sleep that is why their resistance is lesser compare to people who sleeps. Those who don't sleep lost red blood cells. I, myself is a sleeping beauty. I like to sleep. I can choose sleeping rather than eating. And when you wake me up because of eating, it is totally a bad time for me. My mom is a sleepy head too, so I guess women do most of sleeping compare to man.

Most of the times little children need since they still in the stages of growth have to maximize plenty of times to lay down when they become old they would have less time to spend in sleeping with a lot of busy schedules at hand. Surely if one lack sleep it have effect on the beauty regimen if makes one look old if one is not getting enough sleep.

I think both gender need to sleep for at least eight hours per day and it is for adults that Im saying. Women do multi tasks thats right especially in houses and men are mostly in the office but I believe both their energy is burned equally because if someone feels that he/she has worked too much then automatically the body will demand rest.

That so very beneficial for all genders. Since sleeping is a good therapy to relieve stress and makes the mind rest form annoying thinking. It is also good to health and for the whole holistic whole being. Every one need to sleep it may be depending on the degree of needs. Some women and men work hard while some less surely the needs for sleep varies.

When hubby & I actually go to bed together (he's a truck driver & only home 1 night a week), he usually falls asleep before I do & gets to sleep in a bit more than me. But he doesn't sleep as much as I do during the week, he uses the weekend to catch up on his sleep. I'd have to say that it averages out about the same, I might get a few hours more over a week's time, but I'm not real sure about that.

Usually I sleep less than my husband, but I always thought that was personality rather than gender related. I just have always needed less sleep than even some of my female friends.

hi gardengerty, I think it depend on the workload too and if the other partner work more than her other half it would likely they need more rest to replenish the energy lost.

I dont think there is much difference between the sleep times between men and women. It really depends many factors like behaviour, work, stress, physical activity etc and those are independent on the gender to a large extent.

Well, I agree with you that woman do multi tasking and need more rest than men. Also, you will be amazed to hear that woman sleeps more but she falls asleep with more difficulty. But while 25% of the men face trouble when becoming asleep, the number goes up to 35% in the case of women. Men experiencing time shortage sleep 35 minutes less per night, while women in the same situation lose 25 minutes of night sleep. Surprisingly, men actually sleep better when they sleep next to a woman.

I think women have to sleep more than men. Women need sleep to maintain good skin and aura. Women also has a lot of roles that she needs rest to recover her strength after working hard everyday. But in reality, it is the men who sleeps too much claiming that they are the ones who are tired and have plenty of work. I don't believe in that because mothers after working in the office the whole day, she still has to work at home while the father is already sleeping.

Sleeping - Sleeping Child
hi neelianoscet i think we men need more sleep than women because we tend to do more and difficult things. so we need more energy to finish our tasks.. but i think i've read a book saying that women sleep longer than men because they have low rate of energy replenishment because they do have low heart rate than men.. have a nice day.

hi zedrick, well, it is a good thing to heard from a man itself so per observation you need more sleep. it really differs maybe depending on the work load if ever you are engage in those work which requires a lot of sweating it is not only the sleep which you need most also need to eat a lot to replenish your energy spent on the work. i also come out with this discussion from also from what i read it mention women need a lot of sleep because they could be both a mother and wife to their husband, So they have many things to take care of and they need a lot of sleep to do more multi-tasking unlike men they are not expected to do other work after going home they just stay rest and to be serve. thanks.

Well, I don't know who need less sleep but I remember reading the Margaret Thatcher slept only a few hours a night, so there was a woman who need little sleep. I sleep around 4-5 hours a night, whilst my wife can sleep up to 10 hours if left alone. I used to be able to sleep around 10 hours two, but as I got older, my need for sleep grew less and less. _Derek

As far as I am concerned, in my person opinion, I think the men may need more sleep in our daily life .Just for the men usually have a heavy burden to do the work in his daily life. He needs try his best to raise the family or try his best to keep the family has a very comfortable life. So i think that the men maybe shoul have more sleep.

I sleep pretty much the same amount every day, 7-8 hours. My girlfriend on the other hand has a very strange sleeping schedule. During the week she'll sleep around 8 hours before getting up for work. But on the weekends she hibernates! She can sleep a solid 12 hours on Saturday and Sunday without skipping a beat! But of course staying in bed all day has its perks ;-)
