Finding the Silver Lining. (BP oil spill)

I HOPE it's the knowledge of what production can do: cause disaster. People drive less... but I doubt that has happened.

i guess so. the other is they make us aware of the damage that we done and more aware to be more care with the environment

I'm pretty good at positive reframing and finding a silver lining in most situations, but I have to say I struggle with this kind of disaster. I guess the jobs thing as you say - I wouldn't have even thought of that to be honest. The only way this could redeem itself in even a small way would be for government and these businesses to take on board the seriousness of the problem and really work hard to ensure that systems are as safe as they say in future so that it never happens again - and we all know how likely we think that is to happen? :( Maybe if people decided to stop being so reliant on oil and start buying electric cars etc, that could be another good thing - hit these companies where it hurts most - in their pockets and make their product as unnecessary as possible.
