How old where you when you became an aunt or an uncle?

As I was 45 when I had my last son and already had four older daughters it meant that I and two other daughters were pregnant at the same time. This meant that my son was just 11 weeks old when his niece was born, two weeks later his nephew was born. He was a very little uncle!! He now has nine nieces and nephews and is expecting the tenth in September and he is still only 14 How old were you when you became an aunt or uncle?

Wow... he really is a young uncle!! I am not an aunt as yet, and I do not believe that I will be, my brother says that he does not want kids, he is happy the way he is... he has a girlfriend who has 1 little boy just a little younger than Jason, so I guess if they got serious I would be his step-aunt if there is such a thing... but she does not want any more kids, so looks like I will just be a Mummy, which I love.

My husband is the eldest of nine kids and I have one sister but I only have 1 niece and four nephews - and there will certainly be no more now!! It's grandkids I collect by the dozen - I will soon have ten of them - Christmas is a nightmare!!

I have 36 nieces and nephews in all. I have one brother and seven sisters and am next to youngest in line. I have just one child and have two sisters who are still maiden aunts and will never have children of their own. Aren't family dynamics fascinating?

yeah family dynamics are fascinating alaskanray, you're certainly right there and 36 nephews and nieces - wow, my aunts' family is like that, she has 5 children and they each have several children apiece, I have difficulty remembering the names of my cousins children and their ages but they are all very close and often holiday together as a group, almost enough of them to fill a charter lol but I think it's wonderful that they all get on so well. I have only one niece so far and was in my thirties when she was born - boy did she make me broody for a while :)

Hi Oldchem, My eldest daughter is 23 and my youngest brother is 25 so he became an uncle at 18mths old. I also had my son late in life and when I am out with my daughters and him people presume that is is one of my daughters sons rather than my own lol. I think I was in my thirties when I first became an aunt when my other brother had his son and my baby brother has just had a nephew born at the start of the Football World Cup. Huggles. Ellie :D

It was very strange, and then when the babies were born we would all walk in a little crocodile one day a week with our prams. They lived in a different town but would come over once a week for our walks!!

i became an uncle when i was eighteen when my sister in law gave birth to my first nephew. i didn't mind and i even took care of them when they were children. they are nice kids but very intelligent and sometimes fight each other for stuff that's not important. but it's nice having kids even though it's not yours

I haven't become an aunt yet, because my little (half) sister is only 9 years old!! But she is my Dad's daughter from his second marriage and I already had 4 kids by the time she was born, so she is now auntie to 4 teenagers all older than her!!

I was 20 when my brother got her girlfriend pregnant (who, by the way, is now his wife). It was one of the happiest moments in our lives. I love my niece!

I never had that honor. I had one sister but she had muscular dystrophy from birth and had her tubes tied when she got married. She didn't want to chance passing it on. It was for the best, anyway, because her marriage didn't last and she would not have been able to physically care for children. So, I never had any nieces or nephews. I wish I had been able to. My husband has two nieces but they were already grown and one was already a mother when my husband and I met. Plus, they live about 300 miles from us so we don't see them very often. All I can hope for at this point is grandchildren. I'm not a granny yet but I sure would love to be. My oldest son just turned 29 today... actually, he'll officially be 29 at 8:34 tonight, in about 4 hours. He has an on again/off again relationship and they're nowhere near marriage or babies. My youngest son is 26 and knows that he is not ready to settle down. Sigh! Maybe, before I'm too old to enjoy grandchildren, I'll have at least one. I had neighbors where I grew up where the mother of my best friend was pregnant at the same time as her oldest daughter. Her daughter had her baby first, which made my friend's mother's baby younger than his niece! He was born a month after his niece was. That's weird!

I became an aunt when I was in a primary school :) But not a real aunt. I have a younger brother, 14 years younger and I became an aunt for his small friends :) Now I am very often an aunt but still not a real one as my brother and sister do not have their own kids yet. But I wish I were...

Sounds like you have a one big happy family. =) I became an aunt 18 years ago so I became an aunt when I was 6! That doesn't win over your baby boy - haha. But, I have an uncle who is as young/old as me. I don't call him uncle, of course. I just call him by his name.

I became an uncle at 6.This is a suprise to many because i was supposed to be called an uncle by people who were far much older than me but they used to shy away. What a great felling i had to hear them call me "uncle".This was because they would give me the respect they accorded the older uncles. They would reffer to me as the "uncle small".

I actually became an uncle pretty recently. My nephews name is Caiden and he is beautiful, I'm currently 18 years old and he is almost 2. I became an uncle at the age of 16 which I consider pretty early, and I love it!

I was already thirty-three when my oldest niece was born, and aside from her, I have only one nephew who was born when I was thirty-five. Now one interesting thing is that my mother was already an aunt on the day she was born, because she had a sister who was much older and who was already married with children before my mother was born.

I became an aunt for the first time at 18. It was the year I graduated high school. The second niece was born four years later, and a nephew came two years after that.

That is a tiny uncle! I have nothing out of the ordinary here. I became an aunt by marriage at the age of 34 and an aunt by blood when my sister had a baby and I was already 40 years of age! So unlike your very tiny uncle I was a veteran by the time I got to experience being an aunt!

I guess they're more like cousins, eh?!! I'm not an aunt yet. But my sister just got engaged . . . so I'm hoping I will officially become an aunt in the next five years!! She says if they decide to have kids, they would only have one. Right now I'm 41 going on 42 soon . . . I want to be an aunt . . . but I'm not going to press the issue - hee hee.

I was 24 when I had my first niece. My sister who was 28 that time gave us the very first beautiful baby that we really proud of. Then after her, I gave birth to another baby girl just 2 years after my first niece was born.
