Hello friends! I am a new user in myLot. I have about 200 posts and joined a week ago. I saw that many people with lower posts than me has got higher reputations. I use to post with many lines and was 100% related to the discussion. And none of my lines are repeated. But still I don't get enough reputations and i think mylotters don't like me! :( Can somebody help me please?

It may be that they are not responding to your discussions or rating you at all. I have skipped some of your discussions because I believe that they will possibly be deleted, and I do not want to waste my time. If your discussion is a question that can be answered by the faq or tos, then it could get deleted. As you stay here more, you will have more positive ratings.

Unfortunately, I think that we can talk (or rather type) all day and it won't help, because after this discussion and all the responses, there was another violation discussion.

I wasn't talking about this discussion but rather the one about the earning algorithm, which we are not supposed to discuss and about using the emoticons, which could easily have been answered through a PM.

hiya sasuke aww...don't feel sad. it happens to the best of us here it seems like you've got a lot of good advice from some senior myLotters in the earlier responses, so my advice will be for you to try and follow up on what they have pointed out.. your star & reputation will get better & better when you really create interesting topics and turn them into real good discussions...the better the discussion, the better your reputation, the better your earnings, the bigger your smile, and your fingers will get even more stronger from all that typing

I understand what you feel. I try to be at your position right now. Let me suggest you. First, you have to add or have many friends. Keep the active ones to be your friends. Then, always respond to discussions your friends started and comment back to your friends responses that you get in your discussions. This will make you closer with your friends. Always rate (+) to good discussions or responses. Select best responses objectively and always appreciate your friends. If you do all of these, your friends will do the same thing to you. Actually, your reputation is not bad enough. Even, you are better than me. Just be positive thinking with us. We are friend here and you should understand what friends mean. If you want to be appreciated by others, then appreciate the first. I hope you understand.

I have been on myLot for several years and reputation takes a while to build up. I think it's the system that gradually awards the points over weeks and maybe months. I have always tended not to notice my rating/reputation as I much prefer to enjoy the experience of chatting and answering discussions with people from all over the world. The people I have met on myLot are very friendly and rarely do I get a post that criticizes what I write.. In fact, I can't remember getting one - so the members here are really great! Just enjoy the experience and let your discussions build your reputation. I can't see how anybody could dislike you! _Derek

Hi Sasuke, I doubt anyone here dislikes you. I know that speaking for myself, this is the first discussion of yours that I've actually noticed. That could be because they shuffle down from top page quickly...I don't know. I have looked thru the many discussions that you have started and they do all seem to be very brief and ones that would be difficult to turn into an actual discussion. Another thing I noticed is that you don't really participate in your discussions. Not only is that what makes it a discussion but you also don't earn from them when you don't get actively involved in them.I'm thinking it would be helpful if you read thru the FAQs and guidelines here. As for your star...be patient. You've only been here 2 weeks and it looks like you are doing pretty well in that area. It takes a long time to get to a #10 and then there are no guarantees that you'll stay there. Personally I really don't care about my rating. It goes up and down.

Do you really want help and are you going to act on it? I am aware of the trip-ups that you made with a couple of earlier topics but that is in the past. If you want others to rate you positively then it is entirely up to you. You have some interesting topics that could be great discussions BUT if, when others respond, the only thing you say is 'thanks', 'thanks for your response' and the like then you are not furthering the topic and giving them a chance to get back and get involved (and earn). I suggest that you start less topics but participate more in those that you have already started and then of course you should also be taking the time to respond on discussions started by those who are responding on yours MyLot is teamwork and give and take. If you do unto others as you hope they will do unto you then you just might see an improvement. The ball is in your court

My advice to you is to aim at enjoying here and how one is rated is a million dollar question. Atleast I have not figured it out yet. Just follow guidelines and if you feel you have done that and still feel you are not rated high enough relax. There is more here than mere stars and scores. There is so much myLot gives here provided you know how best to make use of it.

When I started myLot I was not so aware of getting reputations but when I saw everyone getting stars I too wished to have one. Now after posting 100 comments I have got 2 stars only. I got really worried then. Now it has been improved to 4 stars. Hopefully I can proceed further and get more reputations. You too can try same. Good Luck!! Happy MyLotting!!!!!

sasuke, i dont know why you say like that. mylot off course doesnt make a discrimination for every of his members. i dont know why you dont get a good reply as your wish but it`s not because mylot doesnt like you.perhaps you must read and very understand faq and tos of mylot.

It will help you to go in and make an actual comment to as many responses as you can on your discussions. They need to be more than a thank you, and need to relate to the discussion. Try it, and you will see that it does help. As others have told you, ratings or reputation is usually temporary. Good posts can bring it up quickly.

You have gotten some really good advice here, especially about reading and becoming familiar with the guidelines, and yet you continue to post "discussions" that are violations and could just as easily be answered through a PM to a friend rather than by posting the question on the boards, especially since these types of posts are only a waste of everyone's time once they get deleted. I would definitely suggest taking the advice of respected myLotters and PM someone with a question if you are unsure rather than posting a violation discussion on the boards. Repeated violations will definitely hurt your myLot reputation and can very easily be avoided.

Well i think its just in your mind buddy. Why do you think so? There is nothing like that i guess. Why would someone hate you? I think you are really doing very well cause in just one week you have scored such a nice number thats worth appreciation. So dont worry about what others think about you and keep doing the nice work. Cheers!!!

keep on posting, keep on responding, keep on reading the comments people leave to your discussions. We all learn by writing more and developing our style. Sooner or later your star will increase and all will be well. I honestly dont think the level of star is a reflection of what other users think of you (good or bad) but is more a reflection of the average standard of your writing in relation to the guide lines. It goes with little saying, how important it is to read these regularly and make sure your discussions meet them. It can not be over emphasised how important it is to choose the topics you respond to with care. If a subject gets deleted, not only do you lose your credit point bujt i am sure you lose your reputation too. All in all, as you progress you will improve, we all do. blessed be

This may be a stupid question but since I just signed up today, I have to ask. What is your reputation and how do you get it?
• Grand Junction, Colorado

@ denise, Welcome to mylot. When you reach 100 posts, the number in the () next to your name you will get a star, if you hover your cursor over the star it will show your mylot reputation, mine has been hovering around 98/100. The best advise I can give you is to study the guidelines and the FAQ's, almost everything that you need to know are listed there. If you still have questions seek out a senior mylotter and request as a friend and PM them with questions. I wish you the best here at mylot!
