Do you look your age?

This is not a trick to lure you into telling me your age! I have a friend who looks very young for his age. He's actually the same age as me but we always said jokingly, 10 years ago, we look like classmates, now he looks like my younger brother, 10 years later he will look like my son! G-A-S-P! I have always look matured for my age, I have been called an auntie at the age of 21 (by a young boy about 16 years old)! But some said that if you look young for your age you will tend to look much older when you are old, and vice versa. What do you think about this?

I look older than my mental age, but younger than my physical age. Many persons of my age look older than me and are much less active than me. The secret of this my physical activities which I continue to do. Since I work, I need more food than others of my age, so I eat more. This makes me more active and feel healthier. But a few days back I made a new friend of 40 but she looks hardly 25-30. I appreciate her care of her body and am in the process of learning a few lessons from her.

"I look older than my mental age, but younger than my physical age. " -- I had to read this twice before I understand it. I think this is a good combination, meaning, you are wise for your age but you look younger. Luckily it's not the other way round LOL. It's great to be active, I think exercise lubricates not only our muscles but our brains as well, so good for you! It is good that you learn something from your friend. Besides learning from her experience, making a new friend also made our life more interesting. Thanks for sharing!

ramb, I hope you have recovered from your giddiness, that is not my intention of choosing such a name at all I may look older for my age but I do hope that being with me and my words make people look younger! I do hope to see you around often and participate in your topics. Have a good day!

Oh bluemoon, I feel giddiness by your name, as you felt by may age statement. Your words inspire me, encourage me and push me closer to you. Yes, my new friend changed the whole perspective of my life. She is loved for that.

If I had said that I look younger I would have incurred the wrath of many people. And that would be my wife and my sons. Hehe... And if what you said about people who look young tend to look older as they mature, is true, I think I would rather look my age.

I have experienced those kind of stuff too but it's just the other way around. People always thought I am younger than my age. I think it's because of my height. I'm already 24 years old but people always thought that I am a teenager which sometimes could be irritating because of the way they act towards me. On the other hand, my young appearance also has some advantages. Like the fare when we ride public vehicles, I usually get a discount because they thought I am a student and they give special discounts on students. There are also other privileges so I guess it not so bad not looking like your age.

To foreigners, we asians would look younger because we are smaller in size, that's a great advantage!

I had an experience when I went to visit the Eiffel Tower when I was about 30 years old. I went to queue for tickets and was automatically given the student price. Needless to say I'm delighted!

i see that quite a no. of people are passionate about this age thingy topic. In fact to look older when one is really quite young may be a blessing in disguise. Coz people will say - 'you always look the same, you haven't age'. Haha. But really I think asians may look younger than westerners coz they are smaller size(?).

I would say I have envied those who look young because I'm at the other end of the stick Now I'm in my thirties and people commented that I still look the same (as if I'm still in my twenties), I realized yeah, it's an advantage to look older than my actual age. About the asian/westerner idea, I think regardless of the race/nationality, people with smaller body frames always look younger.

I don't really know because I get considered all sorts of ages, people think I'm younger and some think I'm older. Commonly people think I'm around 15-17 and I'm actually 23, I'm not sure to be flattered or offended and when people think I'm older I just think they're crazy because I don't think I do. LOL How old do you think I look? I'm not a good judge but I don't think I look 23 myself.

Hi joey, I see you as a foreigner (I'm an Asian), so I can't really tell your age based on your picture. I suppose when someone is in their early twenties like you, it is very difficult to guess their age. I have been mistaken as old when I was young and now I'm in the mid-thirties, just yesterday someone asked me whether I am a student. I do not know what to think of that.

I have been told I look young for my age. I am 53 years old and have been told I look closer to 40 years old. I have a 36 year old son and a 27 year old daughter and when people see us together and find out I am their mother they don't believe us. My daughter looks much younger than she is too. She gets asked for her ID all of the time and people are amazed, they think she is under 18 years of age. We work together cleaning houses and a new client asked me why she isn't in school instead of working with me. She thought my daughter was high school age. My son looks to be about 40 years old, like I've been told about me so it has happened a couple times where we were walking in the mall and people thought my daughter was my son's and mine. They thought my son was my husband and that we must have been very young when we had our daughter. This was just last year.

That sounds so wonderful, I think I envy you but there's a lot of explaining to do...could be a great conversation starter anyway. I guess this trait runs in the family.

I was forever being told that I look younger. I'm still told that only difference is that I think they say it now to try and flatter me as if being in your teens and twenties is the only time you are beautiful. As far as do I look older now?..Sometimes. Depends my mood. If I'm feeling good I look younger.

Beauty comes from the inside and not mere appearances nor depend on the age. Everyone wants to be around a happy person as opposed to an "old" grouch. Well, make sure you are always in a good mood, then you will always look younger!

i do agree with you. .coz its not how you dress and how you wear yourself in front of other people but instead the inner YOU makes you beautiful in a way that you are quitely exotic ! thats the great ASSET you can have even you are oldies . . coz that wont choose and limit ages.. . . as long as your good at heart ans soul ..that's fortunately wonderful.. we should try this .:p

I really depends on the day, the weather, and how long or short my hair is. I think that I look far older where my hair is longer. The bald spot that I have on my hair is far more prominent than it would be normally. Most certainly adds a good about five or ten years onto the old life, that is for sure. Therefore it does make me look older. Also, I tend to age in the winter and then de-age in the spring. I really think that it has a bit to do with the fresh air or lack there of coming into the house. If I have slightly shorter or medium length hair, I look about my age. Maybe a year younger or older depending on your perspective. However, when I have long hair, there is just something about it that makes me look rather old and not all that satisfying on the eyes. So again it really does depend on a number of factors whether I do look my age or I don't look my age.

I understand what you mean, sometimes a different haircut or a different outfit can certainly make people look different. Would you always keep your hair shorter just to look younger? But I guess if you always keep your hair short and people get used to the way you look, then it's back to square one, you look your age again...

Age can be quite deceptive and I hate anybody to ask me how old they are. I'm not good at guessing ages but I admire people who look younger than they are. My mom is 57 and she could pass for somebody 10-15 years younger and still wears her bikini on the beach.

Age is a very sensitive subject. Teenagers and kids probably don't mind being asked their age, but as one gets older, one dislikes being asked. I guess it's because we dislike people forming an impression based on our looks. "Wow you look so young" is said aloud. "Hmmm, she certainly looks her age", this is said quietly to oneself. "Oh, how come he looks so much older?" it is thought to oneself but the other party heard a polite reply.

well, i'd like to believe i look younger than my age hahaha. my younger brother, who's 5 years younger than me, is always mistaken for my older brother. it's flattering of course. i make a constant effort to feel young, like associating with young people. Having a sense of humor also helps a lot.

Being happy always make us feel younger, it's good to have a sense of humour, which is not so common nowadays. Keep it up! I have met two brothers who faced the same situation as you. The younger brother is always mistaken as the older one because of their appearances, makes it very confusing for us.

Hi yugasini, As I have always looked older, I'm trying to find out here whether we will look younger as we get old. Hope someone proves this theory soon, and we will both be happy.

Sometimes I get so frustrated because I look young for my age. My little sister who is ten years younger then me often gets us confused as to who is the oldest. Some people automatically think I am about 18, sometimes as young as 16, and my sister is only 15 and looks 18...uuurrg! (see why I get annoyed?) I'm 25 years old people!!! LOL! It is funny because I am married and about to have my first child and people still think I'm 17 sometimes. When I tell them my age, their faces are priceless so it is kinda of funny. Now as far as the other part of the discussion, I think it really just depends on genetics. I believe that I will always look younger even as get older which is something to look forward to...not saying that my sister will always look older. The reason I say is because I have an older cousin who is 45 and still looks about 32! Nobody believes her age, but she looks great! That is one benefit I will endure since we are family. My sister may end up at a stopping point of looking older and just start to look her age when she turns 21. Plus, I think part of the reason she looks older because she acts so grown. Only time will tell though!

Hi hamcenty, Your reply is very well structured. You have no idea how many envy you for looking young (that's me speaking on behalf of all those out there who did not speak up ) You are a mother looking like 17 still? My expression when I read that was [jaw drops]. I guess it's all in your family huh? Maybe you can prove the theory wrong and yes, only time with tell.

I look about 3 or 4 years younger than my age.Maybe this is because I just came out from school and don't have working or social experience.Or it is just because many of young people don't know how to judge a person's age. I know that many of older people can tell my age right while most of young people cannot tell my age.

As people get older, the eyesight gets poorer and yet they could "see" better. "see" as in "discern" Interesting point 20062010! Last time when I was younger I also could not tell people's age, but now I more or less can make a guess.

My husband and I look very young for our age. When we sent out our wedding announcements we had people ask if we were actually the legal age to get married. I'm also pretty short so that could have something to do with it.

I am already 26 but then somebody are asking if where do I study or if I am already graduated or what year I am in college now. Of course sounds flattering. I don't have any idea about the concept of when you look so young for your age you will look much older when you are old. But then as what I have noticed to the beautiful woman and handsome guy when they were young, usually it fades out much when they are already old to the extent that you can't see any features that she was been so beautiful or been so handsome. But then I have noticed that others are like swan like if they are not so beautiful when they were young they will be beautiful when they are already old to the extent that they look grandma and grandpas already.

Yes, as the saying goes, "beauty is only skin deep", it will disappear pretty fast as we aged. I thought when people are young and graceful in their manners, they will remain poised and graceful later in their lives, it's more a behaviour pattern than an appearance issue. Thanks for your sharing
