Are you getting enough fluids?

I worry too much. I admit. My granddaughter is dialated to 3 and ready to have her little boy as soon as he decides to come into the world. I tell her and her new husband to be sure they are getting enough water every day. It is scarey how quickly dehydration can bring us down. I even wrote an article about it and will share it with you here: http://www.xomba.com/dont_ruin_your_summer

hi celticeagel I have to force myself to stop and drink water, specially during the s ummer when days are hot. Right now I have a large glass of water sitting within my grasp as I type. I know one should never wait until you are thristy as that could be too late too. So I really do take time to fill that large glass and empty it. I had had problems holding fluid in my legs and I found that the last few d ays my legs were their own slim selves again. I had drank a lot more water and voided a lot more urine so my kidneys were making me healthy again.

That is one of those inexplicable secrets. If you retain fluids, you will get rid of them faster if you drink more water. Hatley, I am glad you are doing well at this.

What I try to do is drink a jug(64 fluid ounces) of water in the morning, another one in the afternoon and one in the evening. I sort of 'assign' myself that amount. It seems to work pretty well for me.

Yeah, I keep telling my husband he needs to drink a gallon or more of water a day because he sweats so profusely. He comes home most the time and his clothes are soaking wet with his sweat since he works outside. The heat index today was 111 and the humidity high..it was one of those days that had air conditioners chugging along barely keeping up with the extreme heat.. I know most don't need over a half gallon of water, but I am so afraid he will have a heat stroke or worse if he doesn't get enough. He is always telling me to not worry..but when someone works outside directly in the sun most the day it can be very worrisome.

It certainly is. If he eats lunch I would freeze some watermelon or such and put it in his lunch box. Think liquid when you fix his lunches. When men work outdoors they don't want to drink alot of liquid or them have to go to the lavatory and that takes away from their work.

This year, esp. I think it's been hard to drink enough water. Temps so darn crazy. Supposed to be in the 80s next week here and in the 90s, too.

Ya, it has been really nice here the last few days. In the late 70's and early 80's. So much nicer for me since I don't care for the heat at all. Drinking water at room temp or alittle cooler is very good for prolonged time outdoors. I can't stand to be out very long at all with out plenty of water.

As much as possible, I drink a lot of water everyday. Most especially that I talk a lot. My work involves training people and usually I do a lot of presentation and explaining which usually dries up my throat and sometimes I fell pain... Its like having some scratch on my throat. My solution, plenty of fluids... by drinking water a lot...

I worrt about that too. I know I don't get enough fluids based on the time I'm in the heat. I should drink more water but I do drink it some throughout the day at work.

Well, atleast alittle a day is a help. I just try to assign myself a certain amount for morning, afternoon, and evening. It seems to work better for me.

I drink lots of water, year round. My mom always thought I was sick or something. I am ludy not to have grown up on lots of pop and stuff. I do not crave it. I drink almost everything unsweetened, too. I did go to your link.

I have to say that I have a similar problem. I don't usually drink a lot of water. The only reason why I have been drinking a lot of water lately is that i have to work outside, and it hasn't exactly been the coolest of periods, temperature wise. But when I am at home, not working, I do tend to drink something other than water, whether it's a soft drink, milk, or something else.

Arizona is so hot. I wish you could find a way to drink more water. I have jugs I try to empty several times a day. I have gotten in the habit of having one with me at all time. Drinking more helps with your appetite also.

Hi, I don't get enough water myself I don't know if one cup is enough. Thanks for sharing the blog I'll take a look in a minute. I hope I am getting enough fluids, I know they used to say 8 cups a day but I don't feel I need that many and I can't force myself to drink water.
