Do you wash the dishes right after your meal?

In our home, it is our procedure to rest around 5 minutes before doing the washing of the dishes such as plates, utensils and other kitchen things. This is being done to tone down the food that we ate. Hence, to avoid the movement of the body. And not only that, this is being done to avoid having an appendicitis. How about you, do you wash the dishes right away after your meal or do you also feel the same.

The plate we eat and the glass we use to drink any beverage any point of time in the day, would be washed by the user immediately. This is our procedeure because this makes thing s simpler. As a routine, we have a hired help to wash all the utensils used for cooking etc.., but what we use for eating is every individual's plate and each one washes it.My husband washes his, my son washes his and I wash mine.My dil washes hers. Regarding this 'apPendicitis ' I have never heard that movement of the body after eating would cause it.

I do dishes as soon as we are done eating our meal. As I am cooking, I wash those utensils, dishes and pots and pans as I go along. Then when I am done eating, all I really have to wash are the plates, utensils and glasses that we used with our meal. One point to your post. I have never heard of resting before doing dishes to avoid appendicitis.

I do the same thing too coz I get bored waiting for the food to get done. But when I'm finished eating I just do other stuff first and get back to the sink when I'm ready to wash them.

Good day to you LaurenInLA, Previously we also dont believe in the idea of resting at least for 5 minutes after having a meal. However, a situation was happened to us before wherein my sister got an appendicitis. Before she usually wash the dishes right after meal. And not even bother to rest at least for a second. Until one day, while washing the dishes, she felt something inside her stomach. We have brought her to the hospital then. Afterwards, the doctor told us that she got an appendicitis. The doctor give us an advise, not to do any movement at least for 5 minutes after having a meal in order for our body to town down the food that was eaten.

I definetly do not wash the dishes as soon as I finish eating, infact most times i dont wash the dishes until the day after. I know this is a bad habit but washing dishes is about my most dreaded chore, i would rather scrub floors on my hands and knees then wash the dishes.

sometimes i wash our dishes, but most of the time my sister is the one responsible of doing the washing of dishes, i'd rather sweep the floor instead of washing the dishes, because it takes time to wash then sweep the floor. haha. i love sitting in front of my computer after i finish my meal ^_^

It is preferred here in my home to wash the dishes right after meal. But if you're busy over something and needs to prioritize something else rather than washing the dishes, then I just leave it until I get the chance to wash up after doing what I needed to do more. But it really is better to wash the dishes after meal to avoid the bacteria from spreading all throughout your sink because you left it there for some time. Best of luck

Most of the time I will wash the dishes right after the meal. It is easier to wash them well. If you don't wash them right away, sometimes it is not easy to remove the oil and dirt. And after washing the dishes, I can finally have my own time to do something else. I love China

Nope i'm not, i only wash the dishes if my kitchen sink was already almost full hoho, i think it will be waste of the water and energy, if you have to wash right after meal, when you have a lot of food, and likes cooking activity, a glass and etc. So i wash it after i think there's no dishes to use anymore

Hiya aisha, Most times in fact every day I do the Dishes right away after eating. I can´t do them all in one go because some of the others take longer to eat and they come in later. So the first part is always done right away including the Pots and Pans and everything stacked away again in it´s place. I don´t rush with the Dishes though by this time I have already slowed down for the Afternoon and the other Dishes get done later on. I don´t usually go rushing around either after eating I take it much more easier. I can´t sleep at that time of Day so I just slow down and relax.

I always wait until everybody finished the meal, and wait for more time for someone to grab their second meal. Heheheh...In other words, I don't do dishes unless I almost ran out of plates. But you must know that I don't have much plates, so it won't be too long until I washed it.

sometimes i rest for awhile after a meal and oftentimes i wash it right after. I believe that the former should be practiced which is to rest for a few minutes however, if i am in a hurry to get out of the house i have to do the latter. I am sure appendicitis is not the cause for body movements after a meal. It is just a myth and no scientific evidence to prove it. The condition is caused by a fecalith or a hardened bowel in the colon near our appendics. When ir is inflamed then, appendicitis occurs.

In my family we don't wash dishes after our meal because we have dishwasher but sometimes there is a huge mess in the kichen becaus no one puts their dishes in dishwasher so kichen looks full of dishes.

We never wash the dishes after any meal…usually the dirty dishes are kept in the kitchen basin to be washed later. Usually, most homes have servants who come in at fixed times in the morning and evening to do the cleaning and washing of dirty dishes, clothes, cleaning the floors etc. I don’t have any servants at home to do my work…but immediately after a meal, I don’t feel like doing any work at all. So after lunch, I take the some rest and wash the dishes in the afternoon or after dinner, the dishes are kept and washed the next morning.

Allot of the time I try to wash up as many dishes as I can as I cook and then after dinner depending how late it is I try to do up the rest of them but if it is too late then I just rinse them well and save them for the next day.

We have a dishwasher so it's easy to just slide the dishes right in most of the time. Now my husband and I usually do wait a few minutes before putting our dishes in the dishwasher and that's usually because we are talking, or we are watching television.

First of all, washing dishes has always been one of my most un-enjoyable chores (but I do it with a smile on my face.) Anyway, we don't usually wash our dishes right after we eat because we feel lazy and tired from feeling full. It takes at least 30 minutes to an hour for me to even feel like getting up and moving around the house. I rather just sleep it off, but I just sit at the computer for a while until I feel balanced. The full feeling feels really good, but I don't usually eat too much, I guess it's just what I eat to make me feel the way I do sometimes. My husband is a big eater. I be afraid he might hurt himself and not be able to go to work due to the food overload. But hey, he's okay, he's a big boy.

I know that I should wash the dishes right after eating, but I`m too lazy for that. I usually don`t feel like moving much after eating, so I always think "ok, I can do it later". Usually I wash the dishes of all the day by night, but I never leave them several days, as that would be a little disgusting

I think it depends on how many dishes there are and what was cooked in the pots and pans. We do a bit of bbqing at my house so that makes clean up super easy. If it's just family, we tend to use paper plates when we can, so that helps as well. However, if we have food that sticks to pots and pans, like crunchy and crispy homemade mac and cheese than we might have some of the pans soak overnight to make the morning dishes a little easier. I don't like leaving the kitchen a mess, so I will still at least load the dishwasher with everything that I can and perhaps run a load.
