How far are you from your mother and how often do you think of her?

I think of her a lot; a bit too much may be. I think it is more of an obsession and perhaps my need to say sorry for failing her rather than love. Do you all think as often about her?

Yes, I often think about my late mother. She was partially paralysed. At that age, I did not know her value. Now I feel I should have spent more time with her, talked to her often, learnt music from her which was her desire. Through this mylot platform, I ask for her pardon for my mistakes. Amma, I want to see you once, at least once. Will you come before me, at least in my dreams? This is the craving towards the vacant chair.

Thanks for the Best Response. I think we sail on the same boat. I am sure our mothers will excuse us for our teenage immaturity and bless us for a peaceful life. I am sure your mother would have felt very bad to leave you and go. Think as to how much depressed state in which your mother would have been to leave a small girl child and go into oblivion? I am happy you understood her at least now.

Exactly my feelings towards my mom. It is that at least once...stuff. How much of regret we have and which we cant do anything about...I really wonder how children leave their mothers in their old age.

Hello, This discussion going to be a super duper hit. You don't miss someone when he or she is right in front of you. I never knew I loved my mother so much until, for the first time in my life, I left my home to study engineering in a different place. I was all excited about this new place, friends, and college. But then one day in my dreams I longed for seeing my mother and started weeping. I woke up and was quite embarrassed. But that is the first time I actually realized the love and affection I have for my mother. Now that I am back home, I don't miss her anymore. I wonder what will happen if I loose her. I know nobody stays forever. Thanks. God bless you

I am very close to my mother rather closest to anyone in this entire world. We gel well and we know about each other, she understands me, without me uttering a word, she would just see my face and would come to know my internal feelings, pains/sorrows and joys.

Deepu - that explains why you are so sweet with others. You simply cant be nasty, can you? :) Now tell me when is your birthday otherwise I will be nasty with you and you will be conveying your pains/sorrows instead of joys to your mama.

Hi Vandana, My mother and I are pretty far apart physically. She passed away a couple of years ago. Emotionally we were even further apart than that throughout most of my life. At the end, I spent more time with her. I was with her all day, every day as she needed 24/7 care. Before her meds got so heavy that she was not in her right mind, we had a couple of good talks about the reasons why we were never really close. She actually opened up to me and explained some things that helped me to understand her better. I don't really agree with how she handled things but I did come to understand more of where she was coming from and mainly, not to take it all so personally. We got closer in the last months of her life than we had been in over 50 yrs. I don't know what the issues are between you and your mother but I think you would feel better if you tried to talk to her about them.

My mom is about 20 minutes away from me, sweetie. I always think of her as she is the most important person in my life. You know your mom are always in your heart, don't you? She will never leave you, Vannie. I don't think you have failed her. Whatever the reason, you have to forgive yourself, she loves you as she can see you everyday. That is what i believe. Even for a dumb blonde, i am sometimes right, you know. TATA.

I wish I was a better person than I am. She would have been proud of me then. As things stand, she would have possibly been embarassed about me. But inspite of my failings Saphy, I think she would have loved me a lot. Been missing her a lot since yesterday. :) I know she would have forgiven me sweetie. Yeah, this is one of those rare instances you hit the nail on its head - even though you are a dumb blond. :)

Awwwwwwww That is mean - that is mean - you only miss her because she used to cook for you, and wash your clothes? There is more to being a mother than simply doing what a maid can do. So if you had a maid, you wouldnt miss her, would you?

I live in the same city as my mother, I see her at least once a week. I love my mother dearly and wish the construction wasn't going on so I could visit her more easily... I can't say I think about my mother all the time, but she's never far from my mind, my heart and even my location...

Actually, it is heartening to know that so many people think of their mothers so often. I thought once people grow up, and have their own careers, and perhaps families, they tend to almost forget their parents or may be they become indifferent to them. I am glad I have good friends. :) Dont worry construction work will get over soon enough. Best of luck. :)

Yes vandana, I think of her so often. She is my late mother. We all are nine siblings. When we were young very often we use to quarrel each other. But she remained quite. She had so tolerance. Among the brothers I'm the eldest. She separately kept the head of the fish for me. Because I like to eat that item. She had special fascination for me. I miss my mother.

That is what is great about mothers. They know and remember which child likes what and they ensure that the child gets what he or she likes as long as the mother is alive.

Hi, I have been stay far away from my mother for the past 15 years, Since I was graduated from my high school, I have left my hometown and was overseas till now. I do miss my mother alot and I visit her every year with my husband and my son. When my mother is free, she will come to visit me too. we have a close relationship and she will phone me at least twice a week. The most I miss is my mother's homecooked meal. She can cook very well and I really miss her cooking. Everytime I went back to my hometown,my mother will cook lot of my favourite foods and I enjoyed it alot. We will go shopping together with my sister, have fun together and I really miss that moments.

I talk to my mother almost everyday and if I do not call her, will be getting a call from her just to confirm that everything is good. I end up crying if saw any emotional scene on TV where any elderly women is not crying or someone playing role of mother. Sometimes I call her twice a day and tell her the reason as to why did I call again because saw some emotional scene and could not stop thinking of her. The greatest gift of god to every human being is MOTHER, she is the one who has to sacrifice things for us from the day one when we get the existance. She is always concerned about my health and what I eat. I wish to get her love till the day I am alive. Thank You Vandana for such a nice discussion.

I agree that the greatest gift of god to every human being is mother. :) It is more than sacrifice Ajay. Even the look on her face, the way she holds your hand is enough to tell you that she would be there to protect you from everybody else. We cannot hope to receive such love in our entire lives. Even I cry in the movies. Especially when I hear that Shankar Mahadevan's song in Taarey Zameen par. :) I can only think of her and miss her. :)

I too love my mom a lot. :) Trust me it can be very scary thought of losing the parent or even being far from them. You are still young, and therefore, you can still try. In my case, I am at the end of life stage. :) So whatever I had to do, I have already done. I dont think I scored well. I doubt if she would have been very proud of me. :(

I think we all have that kind of affinity for our mothers. Of course, there are exceptions. But in general, I'd say, 90 percent of people love their mothers a lot. :) Dont you think? :)

Dont we all want to be like our mothers? :) That special quality about her is very difficult to define, she is no Aishwarya Rai, or Indira Gandhi, but still she has so much to copy. :)
