I did one time with Allstate and they are every where too.
I was in Mt and a deer hit me and Allstate had no ins for hitting an animals or the other way around..and also they never insured me with rental car.
I dropped them but when I had to go back to them, I made d**n sure I had all that on my car..

I have had Geico insurance for nearly as long and never had a problem. I think that perhaps the problem may lie in the small little offices and them not keeping the information in their system. Also, I wonder if the smaller offices aren't linked ,or atleast not as well, as the bigger ones. So many people to keep track of. SS and H&W can do it, why can't State Farm and the DMV?

I know how you feel. I live in California, and the DMV is a nightmare around here. They basically tell us before going, have any and all paperwork ready, or go online and get everything filled out because the DMV is so crowded. I have State Farm Insurance as well, and I love it. Haven't had any problems yet, and you can easily carry it from state to state.
I haven't moved out of state yet, but I in two years I am planning on it, and I know that I am going to need the money and I am going to have to get all of my paperwork together in order to do it.

I don't blame u for being mad, i would be to. I hate crap like this. I have just come from the phone co. getting my bill straightened out. I had $70 extra charges that shouldn't have been on there. OF course it's suppose to be right next month & i bet the girl a cup of coffee that i'd have to come back next bill i received. I hate it when companies try to pull crap on u like that. hope u get them straight.

I do not understand why the DMV is having a problem, if State Farm is content with insuring you out of Tennessee, the DMV should be satisfied. Can you not get a State Farm agent where you live? That would help. Having the card should be enough, it always is for us.

Hello, I haven't had this exact problem but have had other issues with DMV (previous discussion). Why DMV never seems to be able to just get it done is beyond me. They get paid pretty darn good here in CA. Here in CA our ins. is submitted to DMV electronically, by all the large ins co. and many smaller ones. If you change ins. DMV gets an electronic cancel from them and the new one you sign up with sends an electronic copy. I wish you much luck, as I think your going to need it, trying to get them to understand sometimes takes a mircle.

yeah my daughter ins does that but whe n they had something else bt state farm they was always telling them they had no ins.
I do think it was cause that ins man didnt put it in on time so 2 times they had to pay the $250 just because he didnt.
yup might take a mircle to get tehm to understand for they want all the money they an get

Hi Lakota,
My daughter has had a similar problem to that a couple of times. Once it was because she paid her insurance bill a day late and it was just before a holiday. When she went into DMV it appeared that she did not have insurance. She did and even if she paid it a day or so late...she still had insurance because it takes time to file a cancellation. We also have StateFarm. I've never had an issue with them. I think your problem lies with the DMV, really. They tend to get confused when there is more than one state involved.

Is there not a State Farm insurance agency where you live now? It seems like all they would have to do is transfer all your info to the agency where you live. I believe that state farm is everywhere. I've never had this problem before, I know whenever I got married I moved to another town but it was still in the same state, there was an agency in the town I moved to that carried the same insurance company that I use and they just transferred all my info from my old agency. I was still driving to my old agency to make my payments and they told me I didn't have to do that, just transfer the info. to the one in my town. I hope you get it worked out.

yup there is State farm is every where in the states.
BUt they want ot charge me almost 2 times the amount I pay now as I am on SS I cant afford $1600 a year and dont like the monthly deal I pay every 3 months which is like ^ months at a time they way they have if figured out.
and as I go back and forth from NEvada to TEnn and have roperty in both they have lt me do this.
and TEnn has no problem insuring me.

I suppose with people not being able to afford the insurance perhaps they want to make sure that it is current and update, would be my guess as to why they will not check records and want to see the actual card.
But as far as why they will honor yours from Tenn, I suppose it goes with all States just another way to generate revenue from the people who live in it.
This angers me as here in Illinois it is where soon it will cost money to breath! Ugh,
