Do you know of a good way to eat a corn cob?

This is what I do: Cut the corn cob into 3 pieces, boil with a pinch of salt till it's cooked, then take out my tub of butter, spread it on the corn cob as I eat it. Keep spreading and keep eating....delicious..... How do you eat yours? Any special method? Share with us please.

Hahahaha! Bluemoon, you know what I eat mine eactly the same way beside I only cut the corn cob into 2 pieces before I boil it ;) But when it is summer I add aluminium foil around it and put it on the grill - it gets just a tiny bit extra crispy taste.

Exactly it is even addicting with corns together with barbeque :) Alternatively in the winter they can be thrown in the oven with the same treatment. To be honest I rather eat a while cob of cron than the potatoes on my plate, so I consume a whole cob and very little potatoes instead - I find the corn more tastey...

Now that you have mentioned potatoes....I love that too...especially in potato in the jacket, with butter (again) and cheese. It is better to have a balance. Potatoes are more like a staple food.

I cut it into 3 pieces because 1/2 a corn is too little for me and one whole piece is too much, 2/3 of a corn is just nice. We always have pieces of corn wrapped up in foil for our barbecue sessions, it just taste so juicy.

Hi, bluemoonpavilion! I'm curious about what kind of corn. Here in north China, corn cobs are very hard like wood. Can they be eaten? Or did you waste a lot of gas to boil them for a very long time? Have a nice day and Happy myLotting!

From my dictionary: Corn cobs are the long rounded parts of the maize or corn plant on which small yellow seeds grow Isn't it the hard core? Here we only eat the "yellow seeds".

I see what you mean. I have no idea we refer to the outside part as the "yellow seeds", and are they really seeds, or fruits?

Hi qianyun! Are you sure about this? Corn is too hard for you to eat? I don't suppose our corn are much different. Just boil for a while and they will be cooked. Unless you are talking about the hard core, I'm sure nobody eat that at all.

I used to eat mine with butter, but now I just eat it plain. I don't put any salt in the water when I'm boiling it either.

I'm not fond of eating corn, sweetie. But when i do i really look like a little shiny pig when i am done. The tub of butter and the salt shaker, must be at hand. TATA.

Did you know that you can microwave corn on the cob without husking it? It's fast too. Just make sure all the 'silk' is out of it first, because sometimes the silk causes the microwave to spark. I micorwave mine for 60-90 seconds on one side then turn it over and do the same on the other. It's really hot when it's done so wait a bit before husking it. It will be moist and sweet and hardly need anything on it!

Im listening on this one, would certainly decrease the cooking time :) And what temp do you microwave it at?
• Singapore

I have not tried this method before. Do we need to cut the corn or just put the whole cob in? Need to wrap it up in foil?

You can put the whole cob in- with its husks (but try to get rid of silk first), no need to cut anything and no need to wrap it in anything except its own husks. Microwave temp is high, but since microwaves differ, I'd experiment with your own and see. ENJOY

I usually bite into the kernels of the corn. But my grandmother uses a spoon to remove the kernels from the cob and then after all the kernels are separated from the cob she then eats it plain or with butter.

Wow, that's a lot of hard work! I will just sink my teeth into the cob and bite off whatever I can and chew it.

I only break mine in two and I roll the cob in the butter. There is a pair of implaments you can buy at the Kitchen stores that will do the trick for you. They are shaped like little miniature corn cobs and have two prongs coming out of one end of each of them. You put them in the ends of the cob and hold them as you eat it. You can probably also find them at the dollar store.

That is an interesting tool....I have not seen anything similar here. I don't mind using my hands and fingers and will simply lick off any extra juice from the corn.

After boiling, I poke one end with a fork and then start slicing the corn into a bowl. While it is still hot, I slice off butter on top and let it melt. Then I sprinkle with salt and start mixing it. Then I eat it just like rice.

I used to love my corn on the cob with butter on it. I would put the butter on my plate and just roll the corn in it. But as I get older, I find that I really like the corn plain without any butter or salt or pepper. I really love how sweet the corn is without anything to cover it up. Plus it's less fattening without the butter!

It is more healthy without all the seasoning and yes, corn has its natural sweetness. I just prefer a blending of the sweet and salt taste cos it's not so boring. I can't give up butter!

Hello blue LOL My way is totally different, we choose a big size corn, in which the seeds are still soft, then the corn as a whole is fried over coal fire, or electric heater carefully, so as not to burn it, next salt mixed with lemon juice is rubbed over it, so yummy friend, but it must be eaten hot.. Thank you so much for this discussion. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . God bless you. Welcome always.

I just hold each end and munch, getting butter all down my self!! My husband is more refined, he stands the corn on one end, sticks a fork in the top to hold it down and slices off the kernels with his knife - a lot more refined but not as much fun!!

Wow,so many people like to eat corn with butter,I have not heard of it before!I like to boil it and then eat it directly without any seasoning,I like the original sweet taste. It seems a dish to me using the butter and salt.

Corn is very good for health, it would be good to take it from time to time. Having it with butter could be very fattening though, so you might want to be careful with that, but at least try it and see whether you like it. It is the best combination to me so far, despite what others said above.

hi bmp, i don't like to eat corn on a corn cob. Most time, if I do eat corn at all, the corn will already have been cooked into the dish or as part of a cold dessert. Sorry - I don't have any special method to offer.

oh carp, you have missed out such a lot of wonderful taste on your tastebuds... Actually I think corn tastes nicer when the kernels are still on the cob than when they are out of it.

Hi Hatley, oh.....I like oatmeal too but if you have that everyday, I agree you can get quite sick of it. Maybe you can add some fruits or honey, to have a variety? I will send you some corn on the cob if you crave for it....

Hi. bluemoonpavilion. I usually will just add butter and salt to it. I also put black pepper on it too. I will eat the mini corn on the cobs. I have some right now in my freezer. I just will eat it like it is. I will eat it straight across. I don't like when I eat all of the corn on the cob up. This leaves me the hard cob. I can't chew and bite on this!

Hi cream, You know when sometimes I put too much butter on it, the butter melted and goes inside the cobs, after I am done with the corn, the cob itself still have that delightful butterish taste.

sometimes sfter boil them i just eat them like that.for better taste i will do the same thing like you spread some butter and eat.awesome!sometimes we make some porridge-sweet corn porridge.it is cooked in coconut milk with either white or brown sugar. add some small round dried sago to create that unique texture and flavor to it. A few strips of pandan leave to complete the concoction for special taste and aroma.delicious!!try it out!

Depends how big the corn is. If small I don't have to cut it. And for butter, I don't like too much of it, so I just put a small amount on my corn.
