I am starting this discussion regarding the myLot search facility as after seeing and responding to several discussions regarding the myLot search I think that a lot of members are a little confused about it. The search is NOT just to search for topics that have been discussed on here but is also a web search like google, yahoo etc. If you click on web when you make your search it searches the web for you like a regular search engine except that you get rewards for using it. Here is what myLot has to say about it in FAQ's Currently the only way to receive a myLot Reward is while using the new-and-improved myLot Search. Make sure to use the myLot Search box the same way you’d use Google, Yahoo, Bing, or whatever other search engine you might use. We've taken steps to identify users who are attempting to abuse the myLot Rewards program in order to increase their earnings. These steps include some warnings and other preventative measures that you may see while using myLot Search. Please note that if you are found to be abusing this feature, your account will be canceled without warning and you’ll forfeit all of your earnings. Just use myLot Search in a normal, natural way, and you should be fine. http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq24.aspx I use the search facility as my main search engine now and I earn around 20c - 25c a day from it, do give it a try!

Hi oldchem, It is a great news that you are earning 20-25 cents everyday by use of search engine alone. I don't know how you manage to get topics to search. Can you see this search engine earnings separately on mylot earning?

Hi, I use it when researching topics for articles that I write, for when I'm searching for on line shopping, etc etc. The earnings are shown separately and are classed as 'rewards', when you have earned a reward you get a box that flashes upon your screen telling you.

Yes the mylot search function here in mylot is the best feature that this site have. It's very useful to me, as a data entry specialist, we used to search some words and things that we need. And presto, here in my lot, it helps me to find those words easily.

I think that an awful lot of members don't realise the benefits of it.

I know how it works, but I have never had much luck with the MyLot search engine. I may have to give it a try. It would help me out a lot to be able to earn some from search, because I am trying to not be online so much over the weekends.

I think it's just a case of getting into the habit of using mylot as the main search engine

I do use it as my main search engine too, but I only make a few rewards a month. Still, any reward is better than NO reward... On the other hand, I don't do a LOT of searches a month, maybe 1-5 a day, so that may have something to do with it

Probably,I do use it a lot, not as a form of abuse but because I do a lot of searching with my work.

The only thing that concerns me is how many times do we use mylot search to get how much? What's the payout? Earnings used to be separated but it's not anymore so I have to wonder. In any case, thanks for reminding us! I did forget about it but will use it!

Just curious...how exactly does one "abuse" a search engine? I would like to avoid doing so as I don't want to be deleted and lose my earnings.

Yes, your idea of a limit is a good one. I have rarely used the search feature, myself, but think I may use it a little more often...but not too much as I don't want to be flagged as an abuser! Thanks for the info.
