Everybody bring out the pillow, I'm going to tell you about my job. You won't need sleeping pills, I promise. :D
I'm not a programmer. I don't have a programming background, which most systems analysts do. But I work with programmers.
My company had a full IT division until recently, when they decided to do the dreaded outsourcing. Yep, if you're from India, and do programming work for an American Health Insurance company, you may actually be working on my project.
I used to sit in requirements meetings, take specifications written by the business, write up a more technical specification, hand it off to a programmer, answer their questions, and then test their work, before handing it off to the business to test.
Now I sit in requirements meetings, proof the technical specifications written by the vendor, answer the programmers questions, proof the testing documents done by the vendor, and support them in supporting the business's testing.
It's a lot less hands on, and reviewing other people's documents instead of writing them myself can be pretty boring. But it's a decent, well paying job, so I can't complain too much.
What's your job like?

Too sit here and read your posts.. kidding.. Well for right now I am currently working on independent contracting IT issues myself. It is okay but my normal field is as a Medical Surgical Center Administrator.
A job that requires you to go nuts daily.

I am in the field of Healthcare and from India, but we are not into outsourcing business. Instead we are in the product development field and develop products on our own. I am project manager, hence I manage around three projects and my typical work includes resource management, requirement management and mentoring the development team along with the client discussions.
Cheers!

At present - I am a content writer for a biotech company. I earn on mturk and myLot - forex. :)
I love my work. It doesnt pay as well as yours does may be. But hey, this was my first love career wise. Because there were (are) no jobs in this line, I had to change my line to commerce - did company secretary's course (didn't clear the last module) - did a little bit programming. On the whole my career was a mix of company secretarial duties, accountants duties, programmer's duties, finance management duties, and even public relations. I must say - the present one is by far the best. :)

All this is a little bit complicated for me - technical specifications, programmers, testing... My job is to tell the news. I work in the news department of Bulgarian national TV. Thanks God I have nothing to do with our home news, I'm far away from the local politics or parlamentary debates. I follow the international news agencies, I write texts and make video editing. In my media this is not a well paying job at all. But I like my work and I'm too old to search for another job :D

I remember taking a class while working on my Data Processing degree in the previous millennium. i graduated in 1987 when Windows was released. I had to update my education on my own since then.
I have no job presently, but my previous job had me making spreadsheets and databases in Microsoft Office (Excel or Access) to speed up processing calculations. I believe I had some projects earlier dealing with what you are now.
Need any help?

I am in management of the inventoy control department at a factory here. Job pretty much consists of overseeing the fact that everyone is doing what they are supposed too and follwing procedures. There are often new employees introduced throughout the busy season so my job consists of training them. I usually do whatever job it is they are assigned to do with them for at least a day before having them trained by a coworker. I have had to do all the jobs there so I am very versatile. Still alot of hands on for me. Hey....are you still awake?

I'm a stay at home mother so everything that I do revolves around my children. I play with them, help my daughter with her homework. I will work with my son on some skills that he is going to need when he starts school in a couple of years. In addition to these things, I cook, clean the house and also try to make a few dollars on the computer in my spare time. It isn't a really exciting job to have but it is the most rewarding thing that I've ever done in my life and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

WOW !!! What a job .. looks like several jobs into one cover mwuahahahaha
However, I got and existential philosphical question:
In my world, female gender do not need a job to be paid or make a decent living amount. Here, in my world, women simply get a ... man.

There was a time when I wanted to work in the IT field...
My job deals with a lot of mediating with suppliers and people on our production floor. I'm the rep for the suppliers when I'm at work, and I'm the rep for the company when I go visiting the suppliers.
It's a thankless job, but at least I get to get out of the office once in a while.

Retirement? Well it's rather interesting on some days and rather boring on others. Some days, I have trouble getting to some projects/tasks, especially the ones involving picking up dog doodoo. I've been postponing that particular task for a week or so now. But the days I golf, go to a university game, go to the casino, etc. are pretty cool.
