The thing that made me go ?? Today.

There is a British Chef called Heston Blumenthal, he's something of an experimenter and he DOES run one of the best restaurants in the world. He recently became a face for a supermarket and developed a new Christmas Pudding for them. The puddings retailed at £13.99 each (not the cheapest but that can serve up to twelve people). The pudding has pretty much sold out at the supermarket and now people are putting them on ebay and they are being bid for, one has a current bid of £77. Why can't people just accept that they missed out this year? I'm sure the pudding is nice but it isn't the end of the world if you don't get one at the supermarket. There are other puddings, you could make your own pudding or you could have something else entirely. I'm bewildered by the idea of "must have" things that aren't essential. There are things I would like to have but if I can't have them (too expensive, can't find one or whatever) I just shrug and get on with life. I wouldn't dream of paying silly money for something so trivial. They didn't exist last year or any year before that and Christmas went on as usual. Why do you suppose some people are bidding on these things?

People of today find it too easy to have things. They are spoiled and selfish. I think anyone, if they have their mind set on one certain thing, would be very disappointed if they can't have it. But alot would go for something else if they couldn't have their first desire. It is called being mature. People just aren't anymore.

The thing that really makes me boggle is that some of the "buy it now" prices for a single pudding are more than it would cost to go to Heston's restaurant, The Fat Duck, and have a four hour "Tasting Menu" meal.

Or you can make the pudding at home and add flavoring. My grandmother used to make it from scratch.

Hi hvedra: I don't think it's a good idea to spend this amount of money for things that simply don't worth it. I agree with you, that's silly money and people simply do this because the chef is famous. Is that right? This also happend with almost everything that comes from a celebrity and I think it's not logycal. Well, let's face it, we are not always very logycal and we tend to treat normal people like gods just because they are famous. ALVARO

To their minds (not mine) it gives them prestige to have something rare or unique. However, if you are going to eat it, you will not have it any longer. I agree, it is rather silly.

Well those must be some incredible pies if people wnat them so much that they are willing to bid on ebay $77 for one. I personally would never pay that much for food. I probably wouldnt even pay the $13.99 price for one. I most likely would just try to make it myself. I cant imagine selling food on ebay during shipping it could get ruined.

I sell some of my (used) household stuff on ebay--the stuff people bid on often makes me say huh?? I sold a plastic candy mold which I bought for $2 to someone for $15. But I am glad I got rid of it and sold it so someone who REALLY wanted it! A win-win, I guess!

lol because people do not want to wait nor go with out. We have become stupid in our materialism. I am with you, if I missed it, I missed it. Let these silly people waste their money...
