I can't recall on what I read on the Guidelines is to respond on time. When a mylot members responded you. I just finished reading and replying on my discussion about Hell instead of Shell. I will respond to my discussion on my own time and own my own. No one should dictate or tell me what to do. UNLESS, Their is someone who can say to me that Responding ON TIME is mandatory. Everybody has its on time. I use my time accordingly. 2 hours from now I will washing my clothes. So the discussion I left no response will be done later or tomorrow.

Really someone is dictating when you should respond or not, how odd. I have a few friends on my list that sometimes will respond 3 months later. I normally do not even wonder why a member does not respond, unless of course the member feels that my response is going to earn them. I am one that I will only start discussions when I know I will spend time on here simply because I want to keep the discussion flowing, but I see no reason why you can't respond later when you have time. At least it shows that you appreciated the response. How odd for any member to do that.

By the way that is crazy and I took a look and it was only two hours later, so what is wrong with this member. I always appreciate anyone even the ones who take 3 months to reply as at least I know they replied. Maybe it is for the better that they do not remain on your friend list as I have always seen replies from you and do not understand why this member felt two hours was too long. I mean some people work and have other things going on in their lies and cannot be attached to myLot 24/7.. That was rude of the member. Anyways keep up the great work.

You are right you can respond in your own time or not respond at all if you wish not to. No one has the right to tell you otherwise except admin. It's normally a common curtesy to respond asap but I know some people that don't respond much at all and others that take months to respond because they post so much it's hard to keep up with them all. As long as you mark your responses with the best response, and use the plus on the ones you like and respond when you can then that is all that's asked of you besides being civil and polite. This also goes for the responders.

You can respond when you have time, not when the other person has time. That person is trying too make you look guilty. Don't let that worry you. Sometimes it takes a while to respond to a discussion. And you should not be rushed.

Hi syoti20, myLot is a such a wonderful site that there isn't any fixed time we should write comment in responses received mandatory. We are free to leave comment whenever we have time or in good mood. So I always do it relaxingly. If I don't have sufficient time to take care of my new discussion I then never like to create any new one. That's why I haven't started any new discussion for quite a long time I really enjoy to type a post once I could eke out time to type one or more. It doesn't matter how limited the time I have. sometimes I even have to complete just a single post I have finished here on and off for several times. So just feel free to do your post here depending on your time available. Happy posting

syoti20, seems that you possess an agile as well as wonderful fast thinking mind. I could see this from the big number of new discussions created ever now and then. I hope you will make more together with the descriptive comments added to all the responses received in them during your day off time. Keep it up and good luck

Absolutely! Yesterday I found a new response to a discussion I started a YEAR ago. I was happy to get it. You are right that we should respond when and if we can. I am doing my laundry today too. Thank you for reminding me that it is time to take it out of the dryer.

haha =D Is this post dedicated for me?? lol =D I know u said that to me, and i feel so honoured over here now Well, responding on time is not mandatory, but at least be more active in your interaction with your responders. Members are taking their time to respond to your post, in the hope of getting your response. BUt u chose to keep starting more and more, leaving others to wait in vain. If the situation is reversed, u started 40 over post over a week, but all the other users dont respond immediately, they wait till months later before they respond. HOw would u feel? WIll u still be motivated to stay in mylot?

haha =D What if everything is relevant and is still there after months? And that all of your friends has the mentality, unless u respond to my posts, i will not respond to yours?? lol =D By then, what's the point of starting 40, only to end up with 0 responses?? lol =D

I create discussion as my mind speaks. Because if I don't create discussion timely I might loose the momentum of my discussion and loose it forever. Since mylot has a feature to view others comment. I respond to their comments to the time I am convenient. If the situation is reversed, u started 40 over post over a week, but all the other users dont respond immediately, they wait till months later before they respond. HOw would u feel? WIll u still be motivated to stay in mylot? ANSWER: That's fine with me. Admin will delete discussion that are irrelevant and crossed the line of guidelines. So by the time I will respond I can see and check if that certain discussion. I encountered discussion which I participated but later on deleted. My effort in responding is useless. I use my time wisely. I will always be motivated to stay in mylot no matter what.

Syoti- We are not to make any responses unless we have something significant to add to the conversation. Just saying "thank you" to everyone who responded to your post is on the "Do no do" list of the Mylot guidelines. As far as I can see tonight there is not an actual guideline regarding the time frame. I'm often surprised when I see a discussion get a "best response" in just an hour. That doesn't give anyone else a chance to even respond. I typically try to respond to my threads within the week. Sometimes I get to them the same day if I happen to be online, but most of the time it is the day after, but best responses are only given after the thread has had some time to collect responses. I would say if you can get back to them within a day or two that would be nice because a lot of people are looking to have full discussions. I know that at times I've felt as if I am given the cold shoulder if the originator of the post has responded to others and not to me. Though, I try to just keep in mind that perhaps they had nothing more to say, or even if they don't like what I said that it does not matter if I added quality information to the discussion. Have fun washing the clothes! Namaste-Anora

regards to responding.... - just take you're time
Hello Syoti, In my Opinion, you can only respond to discussions and comment on responses best time suits you. Don't force yourself because you may not be able to construct a good post which mylotters might mis-interpret you and give negative rating. It is not mandatory at all. as for me, I did force myself since i need to reach certain number of post.. Have a Great Day

indeed there is not a rule or a phrase in the guidelines that requires or mandates us tat we have to respond or comment on our responders in given or set time frame. We can always come and go as we like and no one will stop us from doing so but we should be always make it sure that when we respond to something it wouldn't just revolve in the "thank you" and "sorry" one liners because no matter how we look at it we just wasted our time if we do things that way, right? Enjoy mylot as much as you can and don't let others mandate you in doing things that you don't feel like doing, just enjoy and do the right thing

Hi there. In my point of view, u usually reply or start something when I have time. What I do is normally I will 'collect' them all and when it comes to my free time, I will just reply all. Sometime, I can collect until like 70 to 100 notification. I will then just wait until I have the time and then start to continue to reply the rest. Sounds like a full time job right? :)

if someone tells you that you failed to respond in a timely manner, and continues to do so, that is harassment and probably can get the person reported... if they continue to attack you, or anyone, they can be thrown out.

There is no hard and fast rule that says we should respond to our responders immediately or within specified time. My last discussion took me few days to respond as it has 8 pages of responses plus another two discussions waiting to be tackled. Time is in our hands and there is no hurry to give out our comments since mylot is here to stay.

I agree that what you and when you do it is entirely up to you. We all have lives outside of MyLot which, in most cases are demanding and busy especially at this time of year so we can only come here whenever we can. I would not worry about what others say, you do what is the best for you, that’s what I do! I am very behind with all my notifications and responding quite late but it is beyond my control, I’m doing the best I can!

We get to responding to our own discussions when we are good and ready and that is it! We all have lives to lead off of our computers, so we have to make them priority over responding to people on here. I do try to respond to people who have made an effort to comment on my discussions within a day or so at the most. This is because I work from home and am on my computer every day. If I had a regular job, then I would not respond for maybe a few days and it would not worry me, because that is life! There have been some comments on here about time frame for awarding best responses too. I think at least one week is needed to get a best response, but i like to leave mine a month or so at least to allow for those who have been busy to post on there. I have seen people giving best responses to others on the first day of the discussion. I think this should not be allowed.

I respond to old discussions when i ever i find it interesting because maybe a month ago we are not yet members here and when we search something that we think we are interested to respond to and can share and add to the discussion then we can right? No time frame needed in responding to the discussions. It just like when we create a new discussion, because of our busy offline life, we can't always be online here and respond to everyone who commented on our post. We should all understand that here. Because not all members can be online 24/7.

So... I guess you had some arguement with someone about not responding comments? Well, if that's so, I agree with you that we all have a life outside the internet, and you should use your time in the way that benefits you the most. Answering only something like "thank you" doesn't really add anything new to the discussion, so I think it's better to answer if you have something to add and you feel that it's neccessary. Answer at your own pace, as life outside the internet is more important than life in the internet
