I just responded to a discussion that complained that current discussions are "boring". Unfortunately the poster didn't say what sort of discussions she find interesting. Over the years I have written about almost everything and do recognise "discussion fatigue". Personally I enjoy witty, well crafted posts on most subjects that are not too serious. What subjects do you enjoy discussing here?

I enjoy discussions about cats, and telly shows I like (Doctor Who) for example. I just saw the first episode of Sherlock Holmes, that was really good, about what I would expect from Steven Moffett! I also check others of my interests, headaches, health, fibromyalgia, but I'm not as often responding to them as to the others.

I knew what it was kind of about before seeing an episode, but mostly I'm into British SF, after all, I'm a science fiction fan, first and foremost...

Do you mean that you like British TV shows? I didn't get on with the Sherlock Holmes thing at all. Not what I expected and kind of threw me. But each to our own. Do you like Morse as well?

I also enjoy witty, humorous discussions, but also like to participate in serious discussions about Health, The Environment, Veganism and Sport! (sport can get quiet serious at times!) I also enjoy conversations about Budgies!

I don't know much about sport - other than from certain victory England are now looking at defeat on the Ashes!

It is a funny old game that test cricket. Things can radically change from day to day. I initially thought England were on their way to a series win with another victory in this one, but not the case! Makes for an interesting series now. Level with two tests remaining if the Aussies finish off England today.

I do not know why People say this, everyone has different taste and basically if they find the Discussion boring or not to their Interest, why not pass it and go on to the next one that is what I do

I agree Gabs. I was just intrigued that I read a complaint but no suggestion about what constitutes an interesting discussion. XXX PS If you were to send me your new address I could send you a card!!!

To the person complaining - make more interesting discussions. Rather than complain. Sometimes I dont find anything interesting, it is usually because of my mood. I leave and come back when my head is in it! Discussions I find most interesting, well yours are always good for laughs and provoking thought, I also enjoy politics and cooking, news, you never know what may pique your interest....

You are too kind. Sometimes I see something and just HAVE to respond. But I don't look as hard for new discussions as I used to.

I too have got what I called mylot burnout...answering it seemed discussion after discussion where they all started to blur into one big long discussion..then I had to take a break because I knew that I wasn't giving my best to the discussion and my responses would be lacking..It helped that some were funny and just out of the box of normal to help me respond better. I have more problems with the religious ones and the political ones I totally try to steer clear of those most times and ones that are just rants to let off alot of steam.

I sometimes write some real off the wall discussions and barely a soul responds. But I write them anyway! LOL.

I can tell you more what I do not like, but, why bore people with it. If I do not like one, I skip it, and keep on looking, or make a new one up myself. I tend to like certain PEOPLE more than others and in general, if I like the people, I like their discussions.

I am much the same myself. I keep asking myself why because I am sure that there are other folk out there that I would find stimulating.

I saw that discussion too and told the user if he or she dislikes all our discussions so much just show us how to make that wonderfully interesting scintillating discussion please?

I have no idea what a smoked potato is Hatley, but it might be fun to try and make one. I suspect that it would be pretty inedible! LOL.

Hi pIkefIsh, Your user name itself witty. You always present witty and interesting discussions. I enjoy your discussions. But for lacking of English language I can't give proper answer. The lady who said she is bored let her present interesting discussions so that we can be entertained. I have no choice for any particular subject. I like variety.

I enjoy the witty or unusual discussions too. If a discussion is funny, I'm more apt to respond. I almost never respond to the 'crabby' ones, I get enough of that at home and work.

In all honesty I tend to visit discussions posted by my friends. I am sure that others have merit but somehow I don't find them as stimulating.

I like to discuss any topic actually, as long as the discussion catches my attention and I have something to contribute as well, does not matter from which topic it is. If I found any that is boring then I will just leave it alone and move on to another one. There are many other discussions around and surely every members have their own taste and interest. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Anything that catches my attention that seems to be real. Honestly posts about news doesn't really catch my eyes. I enjoy reading others experiences. Somewhat like diaries of others.

I saw that discussion too. Seems that it is easier for human nature to complain rather than make positive suggestions. I go wherever my fancy takes me when I am here. Some days that could be to more serious stuff and others it could be where the flippant topics are. I would never think of putting the blame on others though if i didn't find anywhere to participate as I'm certain that it depends on my mood and not on the mood of the posters.

I like posts that have something to do to earn more online that does not show anything illegal on Mylot rules like posting their ref links. I also do find interested on posts like how to increase traffic of sites or anything about SEO. I don't waste my time online so I better grab the opportunity to learn more and practice what I know so that I can benefit from it. I also respond to topics that people really needed an answer to know, be it personal problems or beliefs.

Hello p1ikefish, Well, I gotta hand it to you, the person's got balls telling every one that boring discussions are starting up latelyI mean, when ever i stayed for more than two hours, i started feeling sleep already. probably took me time to look for a better discussion. Serious ones always caused debates and mere insults against each other.. Like for example, politics and religious discussions. Usually, i check in mylot and other sites but not that much because i had other things checking on like my country or some political thing.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
18 Dec 10
I tend to avoid the political discussions because they are rarely original and usually the poster just wants to be agreed with.

be your self, words are very easy to say but very difficult to apply in everyday life. We often do something that did not show ourselves, because we always look at and try to apply the habbits of the people we admire, rather than what should be done by ourselves.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
18 Dec 10
We should always endeavour to be ourselves even if that means taking an opposing stance to others. There's no point in discussion if we all see things the same way.
