In the world there are some countries lovely for island hopping. I live in Europe are here Croatia, Italy and Greece great places for island hopping. The Caribbean Islands would be a superb destination for island hopping and snorkeling would be possible. I think that in Asia the Philippines and Indonesia would be excellent for island hopping. In the Pacific Ocean there are islands like Tahiti and Fiji. Going around by by plane is the best way to see that area. Would you like to go island hopping? If so where would go choose to go? Would you fly on a plane or go around by ferry? Why?

I love island hopping! As you've said, it would be great to do it in Greece, Carribean islands, the Philippines, Indonesia, Tahiti and Fiji. Maldives would also be great to island hop and Palau. If I can I wanna do it by kayaking or via a sailboat so I can really feel relaxed.

Thanks for your excellent response. Going along by kayak or sailboat would be ever so relaxing. When I was in Samoa I met some travelers doing a kayaking trip. In the Maldives I island hopped but this was challenging to do. I managed to see five different islands: Asdu and its next door island on the resorts boat, Male the capital to the island on easy to reach on the public ferry and Gan Island by plane.

i'll go with plain, i dont like ferry because i feel dizzy and it feels uncomfortable because you are in the sea for long time.. plane is so fast although you are only sitting you have chance to stand and walk if you will go to cr anyway, since i live in the tropical paradise of philippines, i would definitely like to go in carribean islands, like bahamas, when i watched miss universe 2009, the island looks like a paradise, very beautiful and like to go to christmas island, just wondering where did they got that name, curious?

A Caribbean cruise is on my travel wish list. I think that there are a lot of interesting islands to visit in the Caribbean, and it would be really interesting to travel from island to island. I am especially interested in the Virgin islands that used to belong to my country, but I would like to visit other islands as well. In Asia the two first countries that I think about when I hear the word island hopping are the Philippines and Indonesia, but I think that Japan could be interesting as well. I would visit the 4 biggest islands in Japan and some of the small islands. In Europe Croatia and Greece would be great choices, I would also like to visit the 4 biggest islands in the western part of Estonia. I think I would combine different kinds of transportation. I would like to go by ferry as much as possible, but I would choose to fly if my time was limited or if I wanted to travel quite far (for instanse if I wanted to visit some islands in the very north of the country and some islands in the very south of the country)

I used to work and live in Asia. And island hopping was part of the lifestyle. I was never far away from the beach all the time, and the seafood was always good. True that sometimes the government was a bit unstable, but the people and the experience is really worth it. I would like to go island hopping again in the future.

Here in the Philippines, since this is an archipelago, there are a lot of island hopping trips you can enjoy. One of the best would be in Palawan. The Honday Bay Island Hopping Adventure if you're in Puerto Princesa, in El Nido where you can find the popular Big and Small Lagoon and also in Coron. I hope there's a way to post photos on responses and I'd be more than delighted to share our beautiful pictures of these places.

Island-hopping would be best enjoyed in Palawan with 1,780 islands of sugar white sand beaches and where two of the UNESCO World Heritage sites namely Tubbataha Reef Marine Park and Subterranean River National Park are found.

I think I'd like to get to island hop around the Caribbean..but I'd like to take an alternative to the conventional boat or plane approach to getting around while I was there! Ever heard of an Ekranoplan or Wingship? The Russian Designer (Alexeyev) who created the better known Hydrofoil high speed boats also designed craft using this amazing technology..Have You ever seen video of seabirds (Pelicans) skimming wavetops as they fly? they're using this "ground effect" concept to maintain lift..this was applied to seagoing craft in Russia in the '60s with the (bigger than a 747!) KM craft, which became known as the "Caspian Sea Monster"! Though the Russian Military development of them ceased with the end of the cold war, smaller civilian ones are out there (Look up the Volga 2 and the Amphistar)-I'd Love to Island hop in one of those!

Hi maxi my travel lover friend, It is wonderful to travel in islands. You did not mention the excellent islands of Maldives in Indian ocean. These are coral islands. The source of income of the inhabitants of these islands is tourism and fishing. Thousands of tourists go there to enjoy the sunny beaches and travel by boats around the islands. I don't like to fly on a plane over an island. It is just birds eye view. I prefer ferry to reach an island. In this journey I can feel the rhythms of the waves.

If I could, I'd love to go to all of them! I'd like to go to the islands in the pacific, the Asian islands, the Caribbean islands. I think I'd like to go on a ship so I can see the sunrise and sunset.

I´d love to go island hoping and I would like to do it with enough time to enjoy it. I would go aboard a sailboat. I´m trying to persuade my friends to do island hoping between the three Dutch Antilles. Greece, Italy and Croatia would be awesome too. I WANT MONEY
