Do you get your pet gifts for occasions? like say xmas, birthdays, etc.? I used to get coconut and Bear when i had him, my dogs, presents for every occasion. I didnt this year or last year. mostly because so many things are said to be unsafe for them lately. plus, i buy whatever she needs when she needs it and some when she dont I still have pics of her and Bear opening xmas presents in the past. Do you do this still?

I don't buy my dogs presents but I give them a lot throughout the year. On holidays they get special treats. They love it when the UPS man comes because they know it's a box of bully sticks for them or other dog-yummy treats. I buy them toys from the dollar store if I can find some sturdy enough that Gus doesn't annihilate within a few minutes. Mostly I have to make their toys because he has such strong jaws that normal toys don't hold up. Even the Crazy Critter only lasted a few weeks before it began to rip!

oh my. wouldnt want to be a burgler around gus, huh? but thats cute about the UPS guy. so your lucky dogs get xmas like things several times a year. actually so does coco. she thinks every time mom goes to the store she gets something. even if its just a treat and some loving.

Hey dragon...I'm curious...what sort of toys do you make? You might be able to make some money from them. My dog loves toys but tends to need someone else to play. She chews up tennis balls then brings me the bits that are left as if the whole thing is still intact...she is too sad (or silly)

I was thinking the same thing, MsTickle, but I couldn't sell any. I use very heavy cloth doubled over and stuff it with stuffing. I use the squeakers that are still good because they both love those. They aren't pretty but they're fun and they last awhile! Gus and Cookie will play with each other but they prefer I get in on the game, too.

I made catnip toys for my cats which kept them busy and out of everything else. Plus, I bought my dogs a new squeaky toy each and some rawhide chews. If I didn't do that, they'd have their noses in everybody's presents. I also made my dogs a new batch of peanut butter treats while I was baking cookies. I usually just give them extra treats on their birthdays, even though they have no idea why. They just enjoy.

Thank you! Actually, I've made their treats since my husband was unemployed for four months. I had to cut back on everything but couldn't have my little girls going without so I found a recipe for peanut butter treats and made them. They're awfully easy to make. My dogs LOVE them, plus they cost quite a lot less to make than to buy. I can make twice as much as store-bought for only around 50 cents, compared to $3.00 for half as much in the store. Plus, my girls like them a lot better and I know there's nothing artificial in them. For the past two weeks, my smallest gal, Lilly, has had to have antibiotic eye drops in one eye three times every day. She'll need them for another week, before we see the vet again to try and figure out what's wrong with her eye. (She just keeps closing it like it hurts but the vet can't see anything wrong with it at this point.) Anyway, I reward her with some of these homemade treats every time she gets the drops put in her eye. It's so cute now because whenever I tell her it's time for her eye drops, she trots over to me and lies down right on my lap, waiting for the eye drops because she knows she's going to get some yummy treats right afterward. It's things like this that have made me a dog person instead of a cat person.

I have got two miniature poodle dogs called Secret and Magic. For Christmas this year I bought them a new basket with a comfortable mattress inside it, two toys for them to play with and some turkey flavor snacks. At the moment my dog, Secret, is asleep in the basket so that makes me feel pleased. On a birthday I give my dogs a special outing and a little present too. Secret was born in an August and so that is hot weather for going to the beach. Magic was born in a January so that is a colder time of the year for an outing.

i know it hurts so bad when they leave us for doggy heaven. i guess thats one reason i dont make a big deal with presents on xmas any more for coco. since i lost Bear who used to guard his present under the tree till xmas, its a little to painful to think of. also, we didnt have a tree anyway. so, we forget after we've had one like that.

I did get my dog & one of my grandogs a gift but i gave it to them early. My dog would not have a thing to do w/it, lol. They said my grandog chewed his all to pieces. It was a bone that was suppose to be good for their teeth & breath. Guess my dog doesn't care if she has bad breath, lol.

I don't buy them gifts but they get treats and the dogs and cat got ham and turkey pieces over a few days and the goats got Raspberry Tartlets but Pickles didn't want his this year so he just got his usual arrowroot biscuits. I also gave the goats frozen crusts off the ends of the bread - usually I defrost it but I decided to give it to them like an ice treat because it is so hot. They loved it! Pickles likes his crusts toasted too.

My two beautiful goats. - That's Tulip on the left with her bad leg and losing her winter woolly coat...it is so soft and snuggly. Pickles is my Wether and he gets a winter coat too but his is not soft and fluffy like Tulip's.

Tulip was attacked by several dogs and her knee was broken and her tail and one ear must have been torn badly because they no longer sit where they are supposed too. She still likes dogs and has a very sweet nature. Pickles is a bully boy who loves to eat and play. At heart though he is still a bib baby. I've had him since he was a baby.
I truly love both my goats..Pickles and Tulip.

oh it must be wonderful to have goats for your pets. i had a goat yrs ago in ohio, got her from a guy as a birthday present. she was a baby i had to feed the bottle to. she was so sweet. but when she got big, i had to give her to a goat farmer as my middle son who was a teen then, was mistreating her and she was to big to be in our back yard in town anyway. boy i so loved her.

We usually get out pets some toys and stuff for Christmas. However, this year, we opened our gifts earlier than I had expected to, so I didn't get to the store to get their stuff. I made it up to them the next day with a special bag of treats, though, so they were happy

When I cook, I always work barefooted. Just so I can feel her before I step on her. I can always tell when Tukay's nails need trimming. It sounds like she's tap dancing...lol.

I always get my pets gifts for christmas no matter what.I am also like you i get my pets things all year as i see things that they would like as well as what they need. There are a few things that are not safe for pets that people sell around mainly christmas time, so i am really careful what i get the pets.

Do I have a choice? There is no way I wouldn't feel guilty if I didn't. We have been getting gifts for our pets for several years. I can't say the cat appreciates it, but the dog absolutely loves it. He treats his gifts the way he would if you gave him a treat. I always feel good about my pets being happy.

We used to get our pets something for Christmas and it was so much fun because they loved going through their stockings to see what they got. The pets I'm talking about have long gone over the Rainbow bridge however, the memory stays with me always. The used to jump on me all excited to get to their stockings on Christmas morning. It was like having 10 kids all over me! lol But it was just two very excited cocker spaniels. lol I haven't done it since they've passed because we have so many toys now for the dogs that we have now that they don't need anymore.

I normally do get my cat a new toy for the holidays but this year I didn't have the extra money after buying all other gifts but a friend of mine did buy her some new toys so she still didn't miss out on gifts. I find that dogs are more fun to give gifts to though because they are more apt to tare them open.

This year we didn't get him anything, but I did shop a lot for him afew days before Christmas so I guess in my mind those were his gifts. Since he doesn't really know that Christmas is special it's not a big deal to get him a present, but pampering him with a few things he doesn't really need is a treat he gets every once in a while. I did get a gift for my nephew's dog though, a few treats :)

We have three cats and we did not get them presents for Christmas. We get them toys and presents occasionally. so they are not lacking in toys. I figure, they do not know the concept of Christmas, so we just get them presents when we can. Actually Christmas this year was kind of tough all around; I got my wife one present and she got me one - that was it.

I have not bought my dog a gift this year but he normally gets many cute toys because while I am out shopping and they have those holiday toys for dogs I can't help but grab one for him even though I know they will be torn up! I do not wrap or save a gift to give to my pet for an occasion but I tend to get him something of a few somethings before the day. the kids also tend to give him a few of their no longer wanted toys to chew up.

yes thats one reason i havent bothered with getting coco one this year. she gets so much all through the year. she has to many toys all over the house now and treats every day. when i pick her toys all up its like she slowly makes sure they all get back out of her basket
