I would like to have some solution for this, i got selected in a company(name hidden) 4 months ago.... I went through 4 rounds of interview and after completing the interview process, i filled the employment form of the company and after 15 days they called me to take the photocopies of my mark sheets and they told we will let you know the date of Joining through email.. It all happened 4 months ago.. i have a friend working in that company and i asked him, why they haven't called me yet. He went and asked the Human Resource, they replied that they have rejected me and they will not be calling me for employment with us.. I didn't take up other company's interview thinking i have been selected by this company.. Now they say like this... They didn't give any proof or offer letter, we just filled the employment form of the company after finishing the interview process completely and they told they will send the offer letter through email. Now, when my friend and asked , they told they have rejected me... What should i do after this? Any piece of advice would be big help for me.

Hello guna. Okay, one thing you should always remember. Whenever you apply for a job, don't expect that you will get it at the first company. Always apply at as much companies as you can. One will always take you in. My advice to you. Start all this applying all over again. Luck. TATA.

guna sweetie, applying and completing goes hand in hand. Probably someone who were more qualified. Unfortunately these things happen.

if they think i am under qualified they should have sent me off in the middle of their interview process .. Why did they allow me to pass through each stage of interview? I met their eligibility criteria more than enough before appearing for their interview

What happened here is not at all unusual. A company gets many applicants for a given position and in most cases it takes quite a while to go through them all and then to make the selection. As they gave you no assurance you would be hired they then were not obligated to tell you that you were not selected. I once applied for a job in which I had no previous experience. All I had was the interview and, at the time, was going through a tech school. In fact that is how I found out about the job. It was a good month before they contacted me again to tell me I had the job. I had given up on them and assumed they were not interested or had found someone more qualified. I think most employment agencies would tell you that you should call back after a reasonable amount of time to determine your status. Often that extra show of interest will make all the difference. They not only want you but they really want to know you want them also. If I were the boss doing the looking and I had only one person out of ten that showed an interest I would take another look at them. What you should do is call their Human Resource department yourself and verify what your friend has told you. Do not mention him but simply ask where you stood regarding that job. You may get more direct information from them, like why you were rejected. Following that you may need to continue your job search and next time do not wait so long to get the answer.

Would it be possible for your friend to obtain a name in the HR department that you could call directly. Perhaps if you had someone to contact directly they would let you get through. Kind of sneaky but it may work. To tell you the truth you more than likely have to mark this company off your list. It is a great learning experience and the next time you have a plan to follow that perhaps will get you the job. Regardless you need to set about working out a plan as to what to do and not do when you get an interview with any company. The more prepared you are the better off you will be. There are many places on the Internet that will help you with that.....the following link being one of them. http://www.quintcareers.com/job_interview_preparation.html The more you prepare the better chance you have of making it happen. Very important. My best to you.

Yes, i am going to call the HR directly, but anyhow i will not be getting a contact with the HR. because the intermediate will never direct the call and they will say sorry your call cannot be connected to the HR..

I have experienced a similar sitaution in the past. I went to a job interview and afterwards I was told that they wanted to hire me and that they would send me a letter about the details. I waited for a long time, but when I still didn't hear from them I decide to call the company and I asked them why I hadn't heard from them. They told me that someone else got the job that they had promised me. I was disappointed, but there wasn't much I could do about it, I had to find another job instead. I would give you same advice, I think you should apply in other companies instead. Don't let this rejection stop you, I think you will be able to find another job instead, and maybe you will even find a job that is better than the one you didn't get. I once heard this quote: "When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us" and I believe it is true. Don't focus on the rejection, focus on the new "door"/the new opportunities that you will find if you look for them Good luck.

I got selected as well, at least that is what they told me when I finished the interview and when they asked for my tax information and other papers, but later they took it back and gave the job to someone else. I understand why you didn't participate in the other interview when you thought that you already had a job, but I hope that you will manage to find another job in a company that treats you in a better way.

Well, you don't anything for that matter, friend. That is the decision of the company your applying for. You not signed any contract yet and they have the right to reject you in purpose... If you sign a contract. You can filed a case against them. But if no contract you sign under...you should accept the decision

I am not sure why they did this to you and would like to share my experience as well. I was interviewed by a BIG IT company and they asked for all the documents related to my employment. I filled all the form related to employment offer and sent them scan copies of all my certificates and experience letters of previous employers. They said to send the offer letter in 10 days and when I did not get the offer, wrote them an email and got a reply that you are selected and will be offered soon. After 1 month I wrote another email and got a reply that position is on hold. After 2 month again got same reply. It was good that I did not resign based on their promise and got another offer. Later I realized that they were not ok with my current salary and that is the reason for not offering me. It was good that they did not offer me because I got a better offer with good hike. So I would suggest you to have faith in you and definitely things would be good for you. Sometimes god does stress test and initially we might appear to fail but finally GOD does best for us. Believe yourself and keep trying. All The Best.

All you can do is just keep looking for work. I would have interviewed with other companies, anyway, until I got a firm offer. Who knows, the other jobs that you could have interviewed would have been better. But, you can't change what's already been done. I don't like it when companies leave you hanging like that. Perhaps, in the future, you can call human resources directly, after a certain length of time, and ask if you got the job.

That company missed out on having you. Their interviews will be useful for your skill level I think. You are best not to waste time thinking you were rejected but put your energies into finding your ideal job. You are soon likely to have a really great job and an employer that totally appreciates your efforts. Job hunting can be rather hard but remember it will all be worth it when you find a fantastic job that accepts you.

Employers can hire whoever they want. Even if there are hiring and firing rules, there are always ways around them. Be nice and polite to all potential employers. Do not say or do anything to make them mad. You never know if you may need them in the future. If not this year, maybe in 10 or 20 years. People have very long memories. Even if they don't remember the details of what happened, they will always remember there was a problem. So chalk it up to experience and apply for other jobs.

i may not know exactly what you filled up in that employment form. But if a contract was signed (hopefully you also have a copy) saying that you are hired and just waiting for a start date, then you have rights to being employed, and if they did not follow-through, you have a strong case in court. Then again, if it really is not such a big deal to you, then just go ask for an answer. If they mistreat you or something, then go ahead and sue them. But if they treated you nicely and explained why this and that, you can still go to court, but in my opinion, it is not worth it. Maybe it's just to satisfy your curiosity or anger, but once you know the answer and feel that they are not fooling around, then just look for another job or even say that if ever a position would be open again, you would be willing to work there again or something like that. Hope you find out soon.

Suing them would be a big mistake. Even if he won, he would be labeled as a trouble maker and no one would want to hire him in the future.

in that employment form they asked all of my personal details and there was a column which asked to write the name which would like to be displayed in the identity card. In the Date of joining column they themselves typed it as immediate.

Hi guna. I am so sorry that this happened to you. I know how you feel. I have been to a lot of interviews myself and have gone through this once. I waited for months to know that I was rejected. It was not me, but the position I applied for was not needed anymore and so they decided to do away with it. And what irked me the most was they waited for so many months after my interview to tell me this! Anyway, I did not wait for their reply. I kept applying in other companies even after finishing that interview. So my advice to you is be smart and keep your options open. Never wait for only one company. You have to keep applying in others and keep attending interviews. Don't worry. You will find a suitable job. And be ready to take up whatever comes your way. Good luck.

what makes me to feel sad is that after finishing the interview and even filled their employment form and they told they will mail the offer letter. I am sorry to say that even though it is the fault of the company, you should have been smarter. But no worries. You are a fresher and it has only been so many months. You will be considered a fresher till about a year after you give your final exams. So keep trying in other companies and I insist, please take up whatever job comes your way. Does not matter if the salary is not upto your expectation. It will give you a strong hold to apply for other companies. Doing something is better than sitting idle and doing nothing. Wish you all the best in your endeavour.

I am sorry to hear that you've been messed around by this company. In my opinion companies that mess people around like this are not really worth working for anyway. They really need to make their minds up a bit faster than this as indecisiveness does not excactly give people confidence and if I acted in this way with my business practices then I would not expect to stay in business very long. Good luck for the future. Keep looking because not every company is like this. _Derek

But after sometime somebody from the company will just tell you, you are not hired because they hired another one. There might be a better place for you.

To be honest many employers, at least in the UK, don't even bother to tell you that you have failed in a job application. That is the corporate process for you. Your best bet is to keep applying to all that may be interested. By all means show interest in their company, but be aware that they truly hold no respect for you. You, and for that matter we, are just statistics. If they could make more money by firing us they would do so.
