My friend is pursuing me to have a brace on my teeth. She likes to see have a good smile. I really liked to have one but I can't afford it at the moment. I am bread winner in our family. I less prioritize my needs if its not necesary just like having a brace. Honestly speaking I don't have a good set of teeth. One tooth in my upper left portion is exceeding outside my lips. If you'll image I am like a side-wise vampire. But for totally I can still handle the situation. But smiling at much as possible wasn't good for me. So I have to limit showing off my smile/teeth. My friend told me that when I am ready to have brace it will be too late. I am wondering what is the deadline for age suits to have brace. I am already 22 years old. Please advise.

Technology has improved where as just about any one at any age can achieve a great straight set of teeth. They now make them in invisilign where as no one but you will know they are there. I know a lady who was wearing them at age 42 and use it for two years. The time limit depends on the severity of the problem with gum alignment in total. My son had braces on for two years and nothing seemed to change. So the orthodontist suggested to get them removed as there was absolutely no change. My son has a prematured jaw alignment from birth so the orthodontist suggest surgery. So it will depend but your dentist and or ortho will be able to better assess.

Wow , I wonder how invisilign looks like. I never thought jaw alignment is also affected.

Today they make most invisiligns where as some people remove them to brush their teeth and or sleep. They are as effective as the old traditional wired ones. LOL, technology is so advanced.

hi syoti Perhaps in your country there are special dental clinics that charge less for braces and let you make payments on them and they here in the US do charge less too. Check into this idea in yourcxountry syoti as you will feel better a bout yourself if your teeth look nice. and you will please your friend too. I realize you must help your family but surely they also would love to see have a nice snmile.I do not think there is any age limit so try to find a clinic that wou ld take reasonable payments. good luck Syoti. God bless.+

There is not an age limit to have nice straight teeth...An old friend of mine had braces when she was 23. She was so happy that she did. As far as an actual cut off on age for having braces, well I'm not aware of any. I hear veneers are really nice to have too.

Hi! Yeah, it's really hard when you have a problem with your teeth. It is really hard to talk to people and show them your teeth. My mom also suffers from bad teeth arrangement and hers is even worse than yours. She has got a lot of spaces between her lower teeth. She lost her gum and the teeth spread out. Anyways, with regards to your condition, well, it is not that bad I think but still not good. If I were you, even if you are the breadwinner in your family, I think I would save some money and start saving for the brace. It's what I'm trying to do when I want to buy something a little expensive. Also, try to set a realistic goal for yourself. For example, you would like to have a brace at mid 2011. So, you can calculate how much you would have to save each month and if you think you can save that amount of money without having to sacrifice your family's budget that much, then it will be good. If you want something, you will make ways to do that. You should not hurry yourself too much but if you really want to change things, then start now. Set a realistic goal when you would like to have that braces on then start saving and doing things to reach that goal. :)

I understand. I had braces but I stopped having treatments since I had a baby. But since my dentist is my friend, when I have the money I will ask her to continue my braces for a low price And there is no deadline in having a brace, my boyfriend's brother is 30 but still had one. That is except if you are on your 50s...

Well, I hate to say this, you should have gotten braces for your teeth when you were 8 or 9 years old, or after your last tooth came in. I say this because it is easier for your teeth to be moved into place at that age. Now that you are an adult, you can do braces, but if it were me, since I have had braces and can tell you that you are looking at having them on for about one year to two, I would go for oral surgery instead if you can do that. I have this strange condition where my teeth are always moving around, and braces don't work for me, so when I get the money, I am going to have oral surgery done on my teeth and I am going to have my teeth bonded so that they can stay place. I know that it will be painful, but I am the woman who has had tonsils removed, wisdom teeth removed (one while I was awake and could feel it coming out), and a cyst removed. I can take the pain. Anyway, pain equals beauty, right?

I have known of the fifties who have had braces. Unless things are very different in the Phillipines than in the US, you should be able to do this when you are older.

When I was 22 a dentist said all sorts of awful things would happen to me if I didn't get my teeth straightened. But I was not interested in paying that kind of money or worse yet having the temporary disfiguration and pain of braces. Now they are making almost invisible braces and many older people are getting orthodontic work done. The catch phrase is "It is never to late to get your teeth straightened" --but I would add, ONLY IF YOU WANT TO. If you have other priorities and no pain and good self-esteem, why not wait until you feel you are ready and then think about it. I don't understand why a true friend would pressure you to have cosmetic work done when you have other more pressing needs. The same is true of wisdom teeth. When I was quite young a dentist insisted that I have my wisdom teeth pulled and something like 20 years later I eventually did, but by then I could afford it. Again, my feeling is if something is not broken, why fix it?

There won't be a deadline actually. IT's recommended to have it early when one's body is still growing. With your current age, it's not too late to have braces because i have seen people slightly older than u, having braces.. haha =D Braces does not come cheap it's worth the money for a good smile.. lol =D Dun hestitate for too long because by then, u might be losing teeth.. lol =D

Its never too late to have braces, they even have ones that you can wear at night so they don't interfere with your daily routines. You can be too young to have braces because your teeth are still moving and shifting but once you get to be an adult it can happen whenever you want it to. Past 50 years of age would be too late because you might not enjoy your golden years with braces.

Don't worry, you still have plenty of time to wear braces if you decide to do it in the end. I have met people who were already in their 30s who wore braces, so seein you're much younger there's no problem. The only problem is that braces suppose spending a big sum of money in the dentist, and you will have to visit the dentist quite a lot too. Also, usually you have to wear them for a few years, as fixing teeth is not a quick process. If you do it, I wish you the best

What is the deadline for age to have brace then I say that there is no deadline. Only you put the deadline. If you think that your teeth are still strong enough and can hold the brace then you are good to go. But if you don't think that you are strong enough then that is okay to because nobody can tell you, that you have nasty teeth. Because all they are doing is just trying to cover their own experience they had with teeth.
