The boss is always right....is it true ?

Sometime back I have read a sign board like " The boss is always right If you think he is wrong read the above" Though it appears to be very funny there seems to be some truth in it because even if the boss says something which apparantly looks incorrect we cannot point it out to him because we are afraid of the boss.So we naturally keep mum when he is wrong. Is it the correct attitude?.Are we not hyprocrats in saying so.If every one I mean subordinates say he is always right who will correct him and are we not guilty of not telling the truth. How does he know that he is wrong?.What do you say...?

That is what all bosses are telling their employee. There are a few rules that the boss will set up, it is like this 1. The boss is always right 2. bla...bla...bla...... 3. If you boss did something wrong, please refer to rule No.1 So, do you get what your boss trying to tell you?

You are essentially telling what I have written,Many agree that boss is not correct at all times and in all decisions but unfortunately many think that they are always correct and refuse to be corrected. Some bosses are open minded and take advice and suggestions from subordinates and subordinates are happy to work under bosses. All the best

The phrase "The boss is always right" may not be correct. In the competitive market "The customer is always right" sounds good. There is nothing wrong to point out the boss if you really know that he is wrong.

What you say is correct in so far as business is concerned. Here we are not concerned with any business but an organisation where there are bosses and subordinates. Therefore the question that customer is correct does arise here. The boss is not always correct because he is also a human being but many bosses think they are always correct and refuse to be corrected by subordinates....

Actually if I see that somebody is wrong about something I can't help but point it out even if it is my boss. Sometimes my boss does not like that but there have been times when my pointing out something that was wrong saved us a lot of extra work or trouble. I think we have to be able to speak up when something is not right, it is just finding the right way to do it as to not offend our bosses. Something like saying like, "Well that sounds good, but what if we did this?" That shows respect for them but shifts everything over the correct solution.

What you said is correct and many times boss goes wrong not knowing the consequences but if he is open minded he will take the correction by subordinate in the right spirit,if not the subordinte is likely to be in trouble.Let us hope to get open minded bosses but it is not in our hands. This is life..

As you say many times the bosses may be wrong but the subordinates are afraid to correct them for fear of loosing the job. Some bosses are very nice and open minded and they take advice and consult subordinates before taking decisions.Such bosses are rare but they are liked by every one...HAPPY NEW YEAR

No, the boss is not always right. Luckily for me, my lady boss is so open minded , understanding that she wants to hear our suggestions on things that ought to be done. That's why she is loved by everybody in our office! She is even so generous that the 6 of us in the office plus other chosen ones were given cash gifts and baskets of different fruits last Christmas! Then, this new new year she gave us the red chinese small envelope called "ampaw" in our own dialect with a good luck money on it. We have yet to participate in our supposed to be Christmas party for the 6 of us this 2nd week of January when her schedule permits it.

You are really very lucky and fortunate in getting such a nice and understanding boss. Many are not as lucky as you are. Many times they are very arrogant and refuse to be corrected by subordinates. In an organisation all are equal workers but the boss is the first amongst many and he is a leader. As a leader he or she should consult and take decisions which will ultimately be good for the organisation...HAPPY NEW YEAR

Of course they are not always right. Everyone can make mistake. But when the boss make mistake employees are afraid of pointing out. Isuppose this is not a good idea. Boss may make more mistakes in the days to come. So we should point out in a mild way. For example: make a joke, in the joke you can point. May be he/she will know your intention.

You say that we can correct the boss by making a joke and pointing out his or her mistake. But the problem is how many bosses allow their subodinates to cut jokes before them.Similarly how many subordinates have guts to cut jokes before their boss. The boss and the subordinate generally keep distance from each other.Otherwise what you is good idea. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I know my bosses aren't always right...they think they are but neither one of them actually always gets the facts right! Sometimes they act like they do know something and I can prove them wrong but like you said I stay mum....sometimes though...I correct them. They are only human!

It requires courage to correct the boss and many hesitate. The boses are very arrogant in many cases and they do not like to be corrected and they assert that they are correct. In some exceptional cases bosses are very open minded and they appreciate any correction from subordinates. But such people are very few. Whether we like it or not we have to face the situation diplomatically as we have to survive...

It depends on your boss & if you want to keep your job! Sadly that's the way things roll. I know I had this problem with former boss of mine, he always said he had an open door policy,,,, unfortunatly he forgot about his CLOSED MIND!

What you is happening to many.Though the boss says he is open minded ,some of them are really open minded but many are not.they have their own reservations and don't like to be corrected as ego prevents them from doing so.They say that only for ourward comment Many are hauty and adament as they feel that being so only helps them to retain their position....HAPPY NEW YEAR

It depends on the generation and perhaps even surrounding. For example, not trying to discrimate, but asian cultures tend to act this way which is why we are starting to change and perhaps, be more liberation. I believe generation plays a part too as the older generation tend s to behave that way.

Whether old generation or new generation one should be open minded and see good things in what others say. That is real human nature whether boss or subordinate. The boss should not feel ego and refuse to learn from subordinates. Some are arrogant and they don't want to be correct. That is not correct."To err is human"

No, the boss is not always "right." Well, let me rephrase that. Sometimes, others have better ideas than the boss. Even, myself as a supervisor have had ideas, but someone else might come along with a better idea. Now, with all that being said, an employee should not be shot down or lose their job over voicing their opinion. The boss, and any good boss would be "open" to hear new ideas, which would benefit them as well as the company they wok for. When someone tries to undermine an employee to get them to do what they want, for their own personal good is wrong and should not be tolerated. If an employee is doing something which is not in the best benefit of the company, it should be brought to their attention immediately and not three months down the road. Common sense tells me...that is wrong.

What you say is correct but what is happening is otherwise.Every one knows that boss is not always correct but many times he may be wrong. The subordinates feel fear to tell their boss that he is not correct. Many times the boses do not accept their mistakes and may threten to sack the subordinate. Some are exceptionnaly good and open minded and they appreciate any correction from subordinates. This is life..

I don't think that the boss is always right. it has to depend on the circumstances. The boss will usually have their say first but that does not mean they are always the one to speak the truth.

You are right when you say that the boss is not always correct. After all they arre also human beings and to err is human.some open minded bosses appreciate corect from subordinates but such bosses are few. Many are arrogant and assert their stand. What to do ? we have to survive otherwise the subordinate will be sacked..

Hello friend, my experience with the bosses was to keep myself close to them, to act friendly with my bosses, to know the borders between the working relations and the friendly relations, that way i made it very easy to share my opinions with my bosses and my opinion to be heard, because i'm the one of all who are doing the job and bosses usually stay high and give requests. Sometimes our boss can be wrong with his way of reaching success. If the same boss see that we are trying to work really hard for his success, for doing his business successfully and without mistakes, the boss will hear us for sure.

You seem to be exceptional. But many are afraid of bosses and hesitate to come closer to the boss.Similarly bosses also try to be aloof and avoid closeness with subordinates. You are lucky to have good and understanding bosses. Some of them refuse to hear or get corrected and many unlucky people have to work under them. This is life.....
