I am thinking about a fire in your house. I have a home-make quilt that my mother and her neighbors made for us when we got married 22 years ago. I would want to rescue that. I also have pictures and baby books that I would want to take out. I have a few glass collections...but they are all replaceable. Do you have a collection, or things that are special to you that you would want to rescue from the burning house?

I do have certain memorabilia I would like to keep for eternity. But the key would be for my boyfriend and I to get out safely. We do not have insurance either if this were the case but I feel that our safety is way more important. I have sent a great many things to be stored at my boyfriends home garage out of state, and in the event she had a fire I would hope she simply saves herself as she lives alone.

I have colored glassware that I would like to have. I have a collection of Avon's Cape Cod Collection. it is ruby red/burgungy glassware that Avon sold. I am always looking for more of it to add to my collection. Right now I have about 10 pieces and 2 goblets on order from Ebay right now.

A burning house? Scarey. I would want to rescue my pictures of all the kids. I have a pic of my daughter's school pic every year she was in school. Pretty cute! I can think of other things that are dear to me but mostly just getting my grandson out, things that can't really be replaced but...??!!

Well we have something in common. I have a hand made quilt that means the world to me. I'd love to tell you about it. I have two grandchildren and when the baby clothes were of no further use my daughter took the favorite pieces of clothing and had a lady make a quilt for me. It's absolutely beautiful and cost my daughter 500 dollars to make. You need to see it to see how well done it is.

I bet it is beautiful....and has so much sentimental value for you. My quilt is cream on one side and burgundy on the other side. It is stitched with burgundy thread. It had a lot of hearts and frilly corners....it is definitely a 'love' quilt. The edges are scalloped with burgundy bias tape. Looking at the cream side with the burgundy stitching, it is beautiful.

Oh I would rescue my family first, then the petsBut assuming I know that they are already safe and the fire is still in the next house, that is I know that it would still be quite safe for me to go back in, I would definitely go back to my coin or stamp collection because this things can't be replaced by money even if I'm paid the insurance.

for me, it will be my family pictures as you can't replace them once they are burned... they are precious because they remind me of the precious moments that i have with my family that will last forever... of course the very first thing that i will try to save if my house is on fire is all the important documents first as i will need them to continue on with my life... take care and have a nice day...

I have pictures and photo albums as well. They are in a Rubbermaid container in my basement. I was thinking that I should have them in the top of my closet or somewhere where I could grab them quickly, if I ever had to.

My most precious possessions are my writings, and my music, and my photos, the vast majority of which have been preserved online. That said, I have a few old cassette tapes of songs I'd like to salvage, and some mementos.

My scrapbooks...because they hold all my memories in pictures...and that would be very important to me to save....besides that...can't think of anything else.

I have thought about this often and I know there are things I would miss, I have some original art that could never be replaced as of course family pictures would be a great loss, But then I think if all got out unhurt that would be all that mattered. Life would go on.

Well when it comes down to it most possessions can be replaced if you have insurance but there are certain ones that can't be for example a quilt from loved ones or pictures that bring back beautiful memories. For me some of my non-replaceable items I would be willing to risk getting burned over would be all of my lyric books/poem books, notes I have taken, my crystal gemstones and this awesome rose quartz/clear quartz necklace I got from one of my best friends who I can unfortunately no longer get a hold of, and if I had the time I would try and save my 5-string bass because it was my second anniversary present from my loving and darling girlfriend. The bass might be hard to get out of a house that was on fire though so if I couldn't get it out I could live without it. The lyrics that I have spent years of my life on though are the most important item in my house that belongs to me, along with the books of music I have written as well. Those are things that no insurance company will ever be able to get back for me so I have to protect them the best I can. I've been thinking about putting all of my lyrics onto a website or a storage device just so I could have back ups in case anything happened to them. Recently I thought I had lost a couple pages of some awesome lyrics that were flowing through my head and just the thought of losing some lyrics kind of drove me crazy and made me wish I had been more responsible. Luckily I was able to find them though which was an incredible amount of relief.

I think if there was a fire in my apartment I would grab my model horses! I love horses and the models are worth something! Then my computer!I have alot on there I don't want to see vanish! Then I would grab my Packer jersey which I paid alot for! Price in not the just the factor! I also love those things!

I believe that I talked about something like this about a year ago. At that time the thing that I wanted to save would be my external hard drives. Here we are a year later and I have to say that I stand by the fact that I would want to save those. The reason that those are so important to me is because I have almost all of my pictures since my children were born on the externals. Some of the pictures have been put onto disks, but not all of them are.

Hi Nadinest1!Just like you, I'm thinking of the things with sentimental value that I may not save in case of fire. Of course, the life and safety of the family will be the foremost consideration but some of the material things that I would like to save are our wedding paraphernalia, the clothes, toys and other things that my baby used, gifts that we received and important documents. I'm not that worried about the photographs since I have stored copies of these online and in my storage drive. For this reason that I've been thinking of getting a fire proof mini vault. Let's just always pray that we and our family be spared from all kinds of harm.

I have a collection of very old 78 RPM records, but it would be hard to get them all packed up in time. I guess the only thing I'd really be able to grab would be my cat, in the carrier, and my computer in its case.

There is a couple of drawers here near my desk top computer that I think I would like to rescue if ever the house caught on fire (of course after rescuing all the people in the house). One drawer has binders with all the important papers, passports, birth certificates, life insurance plans, etc. The other drawer has a stamp book that I started when I was a little kid. Although I haven't done anything to this stamp book for more than 20 years, I still would like to get it saved.
