Curse you shoulder, says my elbow...

We've all seen it on TV, the pregnant woman, in labor, in screaming pain, cursing her husband, right? Well now picture the elbow, being tortured by the physical therapist, and all because something is wrong with the shoulder. Well the elbow is in screaming pain through no fault of its own, and it is really, really angry at the shoulder. If elbows had mouths, it would be yelling at the poor shoulder right now, even though the shoulder is in its own purgatory. And as for me, having been beaten up, had my arm and shoulder yanked in every direction that they do not want to go, I just want to take a nap. But I can't because the elbow is screaming at the shoulder.

Thit! No painkillers? when I had a frozen neck I used and still use a hot water bottle - lasts longer than a heating pad. I am so sorry that you are in pain. I do not do pain well. I hope that you will get better soon
And get something for the pain.

And get something for the pain.

Pain killers are good, warmth is good. Cremes with capsaicin in them are good. Make you feel like you have a sunburn almost. Any muscle relaxers to go with the pain killers?

Muscle relaxants are a must. I recommend a double V. This means valium and vodka!

Darn those pains at times, well you tell the elbow to stop screaming as if it does not the shoulder might just want to out speak the elbow and well that would make for a great story but a painful one at that.
Codeine
sounds about right to keep the elbow and shoulder in tip top silence at least for the moment.

Actually, they are both beginning to make my elbow beg for attention--copycat that it is. I am just stiff all over from lack of activity, but I am having sympathy pains. I am also visualizing little mouths and eyes on both your shoulder and your elbow, and wondering how you will ever get to sleep.

hi dawn oh that makes my bum shoulder ache just thinking about it when the new grad therapist was doing that to me. I honestly thougnt she had twisted my arm clear around backwards when I yelled that I did not do backwards arm she laughed and twisted it around in front. after this therapy they put a heating pad on it. but it hurt all the way bome on trhe bus until I took three ibuprofen instead of two. finally it quit.so what did I do I got up and started typing mylotting and I was in so much pain I yelled and my son came in and said put a hot water bottle on it. fine as if I had a hot water bottle lol so I wrung out a towel in hot water and sat on the toilet and keep reheating it. finally the ibuprofin finally really kicked in but for awhile I could not type.. gosh
I hope your shoulder and elbow get better soon Dawn I feel for you really. I have been there. I wonder if all that manipulation is really
all that good for ones frozen shoulder? I know my insurance stopped my therapy so I still cannot use my left arm for much but typing as I can raise my hand to the level of the keyboard. lol

A great thing to do instead of wet towels or hot water bottles is to fill a sock or bag with rice. The cheaper the better. I have also heard that beans work. Anyway, then you heat it for a minute in the microwave and it conforms to your painful arm or whatever. I even have one I filled with macaroni. It helps, it cannot burn you, and it does not get you wet.

I have one of those rice packs (or beans), but I mostly use it for cold....

Did they prescribe some very strong pain killers to you by chance? Poor thing. Tell the elbow to scream lower at the shoulder. Body parts screaming at eachother. Ugh! Elbow screaming at the shoulder. Now is it really the shoulders fault that it got hurt and let the elbow down?

Why the earplugs? Not listening to the elbow?

Hey dawny~ Sorry about your elbow-shoulder battle. I broke my
right shoulder and I do remember the terrible torture I was put
through three times a week to "fix" the break. I believe they
called it "Physical Therapy". All I know was that I was screaming,
and so was my shoulder and all parts of the arm, including the
hand! And it was Winter and I had to take the bus home and walk
up the hill. Thanks for the fond memories. I hope your problem
clears up faster than mine did~

Certainly sounds like a time when you need some pain pills. Seriously though, I've been through a lot of pain in my life and I honestly think that the pain that I had when I was in labor was nothing compared to the pain that I had from a herniated disc in my back or even from my worst bout with TMJ. None of those times did I curse anyone because I was in pain, and no, I didn't curse my husband when I was in labor either because I really didn't think that it hurt too bad (I didn't have epidurals either).

Herniated disks are awful, this is nothing compared to that....

When I get those, and I couldn't get the either the elbow or the shoulder to compromise on the pain, I use the mentholated creams to cover both. It is very soothing as the warm(or the cool) sensation takes effect.
Of course, the nose then starts screaming!
Sometimes it even get other noses to start screaming!
