Do you think ‘truth’ comes out, when people are drunk, or under effect of drugs?

Last night, I had been to a wedding ceremony of a friends’ son; he is rich and belongs to a particular community. Alcoholic drinks were served, many drank to the brim. Also milk in which ‘bhang’ (a preparation of the leaves and flowers of the hemp plant; much used in India) was mixed was served. Soon people were under effect of alcohol and bhang. They soon started behaving differently. Those who had taken bhang mixed milk started telling hidden stories about their life. This I have observed earlier too. This means, ‘truth’ comes out, when people are drunk. Share your opinion. Do you drink? I have never, so far, and there is no chance either. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

I have also come across several times that under the influence of alchohol or bhung many people speak what is in their mind.I think it is the truth they speak at that time.I too wondered at it several times.I do not know the secret behind it.They become very open minded and omit everthing in their mind and whem overdrunk some omit what is in their stomach also..

When one is overdrunk not only what is in stomach comes out but what is in mind also comes out. What comes out of stomach is awfull in smelling and in appearance and what comes of the mind though truth will not relished by others some times...

I don't think drinking can always make someone speak the truth. However, you feel most comfortable when you speak the truth. When people lie, they stress their mind and nervous system. When someone has some repressed feelings and if it's too painful to bear then he may look for opportunities to release it. May be his ego prevents him from speaking out the truth, but when he's drunk, his ego looses its strength and resistance. At that time he wants to release his hidden feelings and sometimes does so. However there are people who have a very strong mental frame. They don't usually get drunk no matter how much they drink. Even if they are drunk, they don't speak anything about their private lives. These people can drink until they fall asleep yet may not give out any secrets.

It has bene said that when someone si drunk, it loosens their tongues and they say things thta they would not othrewise have said when sober and thinking. That said, i do believe that people who are drunk do tlel the truth when drunk because these are stories they would love to tlel someone but because maybe it si secret they have it all built up inside and can't tlel anyone. The funny thing about this is, when they are sober again, many people do not recall saying any of what they said when they were drunk.

Hi Thats what i have heard people say. In my case I have never been drunk to such an extent that I have lost control over what i am speaking. I always try to control what i speak when i am drunk because once you speak a word, it is very difficult to take it back. No, I have never tried bhang so far, though i wont to do it.

I do not think so, this is all about the person who is drunk. They just act about it and tell everything what they want to tell and not under influence of drink. Thank You for sharing.

This is a question I have asked myself also some time ago and got the answer from Eckhart Tolle who wrote several books one of them is "The power of Now". I took part in one of his seminars where he explained that some people reveal their ego or pain body when they are drunk.- The pain body is unconscious and is felt as intense emotion, which comes out to seek gratification or something to identify with.

I would say here that it depends on how drunk the person is and if he wants to be truthful. When I was a professional musician I worked in many clubs around the country and saw drunk people quite a lot - not a nice thing to see when one is sober! Anyway, I what I have found is that inhibitions are often dropped but the person can still tell lies. They can see beauty where there isn't any, and tend to like the most tuneless music as somehow they're mind seems to distort everything. There is an old saying that drunks tell the truth, but I have found many exceptions to this. _Derek

I believe it to be true for the most part. I also believe that they say things that they don't mean or mean to say. It has been my experience that if you listen long enough (really listen) the trueth comes out of everyone. Yes I drink and even had loose lips. So I drink in moderation now.

The act of drinking lowers people's inhibitions and that is the reason that people tend to open up more when they've been drinking than when they haven't been drinking. That said, I have known people that have shared information when they've been drinking that they wouldn't have otherwise shared. As for me, I will have one or two drinks from time to time. However, I don't like to drink so much that I don't feel like I have control of myself.

yes, my dear professor, my dad is the best example for that. When my father had drunk, he told real matters. He used to explore his thoughts and sorrow, and love on us. My dad is oftenly will drink. But that to in a very concentration. Whatever it is too much of drinking is bad. In my village there are many familes are in heavy problems because the house head(husbands) are habitured to drinking.

I also drink, but i never have had the experience of drunk, because i would stop drinking and dismiss when i have the proper feeling. I would doubt the saying "truth comes out, when people are drunk",just i feel when people get drunk, they become more excited and would like to speak more with others around, and sometimes boast.

What i can say about this is that people when they are drunk tend to be themselves. They are acquiring a certain confident to disregard what people thinks. I don't know if that comes from the spirit of those alchoholic beverages. When we are sober, we tend to always think what other people will say, what other people will think, that's why we tell ourselves, we should always act well, we should always behave and choose the words that we should use, but if we're under the influence of alchohol, we don't care, we just don't think, as long as we can free ourselves from the things that we've been longing to do or say. It's a relief somehow. It's very tiring to act properly, to endure all the sad things in life if your always thinking the right etiquette, if your always worried about your image. For me, the influence of alchohol just brings out one's truself, but of course, it should always be practiced in moderation.

I have noticed people when they drink try to take out all their sorrows. May be they would not realise what they are speaking. It just comes out of them automatically. People become addicted when they are in deep sorrow or out of enjoyment.

In my experience, I notice most drank people tend to become bolder and braver or just plainly more stupid. In my place most accidents and fights happen because of this. Like you, I don't drink because I have witness such ridiculous behaviors since I was so young and this served as a lesson for me.

I don't drink so I can say I'm safe in this aspect? Haha~!But yeah, when people are drunk they're just not themselves. Their guard & defenses are practically ZERO for that period of time so they'll just talk & talk & talk. Well, that's the ill effects of it

I am surprised to hear that the milk was mixed with bhang at wedding ceremony. The bhang is a sort of narcotic,It seems to me that even though one who drinks like a fish,he must be out of control. It is said that people speak from the bottom of his heart after they are drunk,as I see it,It varies from person to person.

I do believe people accidentaly say some secrets when they are drunk. For example, not too long ago, my friend and I got drunk and we started to talk about random stuff, untill he accidentally said that he had taken $5 from my wallet back during highschool and he blamed it on my other friend, which I believed. I don't mind about it now anymore, but back then I was so worried about it.
