The most unforgettable foreigner who I met is a young girl. In July,2009,with most of my workmates I had a chance to travel to Yunnan, which place I had been looking forward to.In the train to Kunming,I met a fat foreign girl while washing face in the washing room. "Hi!"I bravely spoke to her."Hi!"She answered politely."Where are you from?""I'm from Holland."......There are too many people waiting,we could not stay long. To kill the idle and boring time,I began to push through in the train boxes one by one.Again I saw the girl! She sat close to two Chinese little girls, chatting with them. Also she recognized me at a glance,we greeted each other at almost the same time. And then I joined them, talking for about an hour, though my spoken English was not good.At last, she happily left me her E-mail address. But returning home,I never found the list with her E-mail address written on! Coincidence always happens and disappears stealthily.

It is always nice to make friends with these from another country .When i was in college ,i got interested in spoken English because there are many foreign teachers on our campus .One day ,i saw a notice on a bbs ,advocating students to join English Corner .Since my English transcript was not bad ,i was in .There ,i met Ricky ,a funny British who graduated from Cambridge .I couldn't help getting acquainted with him .Then we became friends .Every time we stand close when taking part in English Corner .Unfortunately ,one year later ,he had to move back to England for a further study .At his last presence of English Corner ,i gave a little present .After his leaving ,we just sent several E-mails to each other .Maybe we were both on our own stuff .Ricky is really a good friend and a versatile mentor to me .I have learned a lot from him .Hope him live happily .

I have met a lot of foreigners over the years. Of them all, there is a tie. In 2004 I met a girl from Poland. While working at the amusement park I lived in the hotel with two other guys. One day this guy from South America had a date in our room with that girl from Poland. He had a second date with her. The next time I saw her was at work. I didn't know she worked in our department. That day she asked me to go smoke with her for lunch. Later in the season we walked to the bus stop and rode the bus together. When she left, we emailed each other for about two years. She was a really nice girl. The other person was a girl from Ukraine. I met her while riding the bus. From that time, we walked to the bus stop and caught the bus together. Sometimes she would have some chips and get mad if I didn't want any. One day somebody insulted her and she left without saying goodbye. She was very smart and I think I've seen her on a website. I think she's an astrophysicist although she told me something about law and I thought she meant lawyer.

I have to add that I feel very fortunate and blessed to have met so many wonderful foreigners. I've met people from Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, and South America. I've met them at school, work, on myLot, Facebook, and Myspace. Some of them are fellow writers. I've learned from them and enjoyed knowing them.

Oldsix. I wish I was rich. The only time I've went past the American border was when I went to Canada. The foreigners I met were in Detroit, Ann Arbor, Pittsburgh, Cedar Point Amusement Park, and in college (Eastern Michigan University and Wayne State University.) But it was all fun. Thanks.

oldsix, I like to be in that kind of situation. I have often been that foreigner when visiting China. If I was riding on a bus, people would start practicing their English with me, I really liked it since my purpose for being in China was to teach English. I tend to lose things too. I take it you did not give her your email address since it sounds like you didn't hear back from her either. Oh well...

Were you in Yangcheng, Jiangsu province? Other than there, I flew from Shanghai. Before that I was in Gaungdong province in 2006-8. That could be why we didn't meet. Oh well, you will meet others some time.

We were able to go to Taipei during the holiday season last December 30, 2010. We were excited to see the fireworks display at the Taipei 101 on the eve of December 31. And finally there it was... The show was great and after that we had a hard time going home since there many who came to see it to. We were walking for a while and it was getting colder and colder. My aunties were tired that we decided to stay at a Mcdonalds until we find a taxi. I was waiting for a cab while my aunties are resting inside and when I checked on them, I saw them sleeping already. So i know how tired they really are. All I wanted to do now is find a taxi and send them to our hotel. Unfortunately, there were a few taxis there since it is 2 am in the morning and all of them are full because there are still a lot of people from the New Year countdown. The bad thing was my cellphone was empty and there is not a phone booth insight. After an hour of waiting, I saw a store opening in front of Mcdo. It was a teahouse. Desperate, I walked over there and tried to converse in English. I had a hard time since the one who opened the shop doesn't know how to speak in English. He went inside to call somebody. The manager and his friend went out. I was relieved that both of them know how to speak in English. I asked them if I can use their phone to call the hotel for them to send a taxi over to pick us up. And so I called but there were no taxi there. The manager heard that and to my surprise he said that if I can wait, he will try to call the taxi companies he knows. But to no avail. He helped us for an hour. He didn't stop until we have a ride home. I was so touched with the gesture. So that made him and his staff the most unforgettable foreigner that I ever knew.

I'm just too shallow, but the most unforgettable foreigner I have ever met was my current classmate in a block. I was a shy guy and we had this "introduce to me" activity, and I was partnered to this girl. Surprisingly, contrary to my thoughts that she would be silent and would not want to talk at all, she was easy to get along with ant fun to be with. I felt at ease with her in an instant. Simple and shallow, yet unforgettable.

The most unforgettable foreigners for me would have to be 3 girls that my mom, husband and I met while we were in San Francisco one day back in the early 90's. My husband is Caucasian and as these girls wanted their picture taken with a "real American" they chose him. I found the whole thing hilarious, though at the same time I was proud that they chose him, and I wound up taking the picture of these girls with my husband. My only regret is that I wish we could have gotten a copy of it for memorabilia. LOL Happy mylotting!

What a shame! You should have copied the picture. But if so,maybe there would be something unpleasant:Your husband would miss the three girls often!lol

I was brought up in the country. My parents were farmers, and I went to a very small school with the other farmer's school. We met no foreigners. The first one I ever met was probably a naturalized American. This was after I had moved away from the farm and married. Her name was Kozzy. This was probably an English adaption of her Japanese name. She was the wife of an American Airman and lived down the block from my husband and me. I was taken by the soft way she spoke. She never raised her voice, even when her children misbehaved. Shortly thereafter, my husband was transferred, and Kozzy and I never met again.

I think she was the type of kind and learned woman,or she couldn't be married to am American Airman.Maybe you can never meet her again, but you can dream of her often, anyway that's a wonderful reminiscence.Good health with you!

Most foreigners I meet are hard to forget since it is not everyday that I meet them. So when I do meet one, he or she almost remains in my mind. So I can say that most of them are unforgettable to me and I could not choose one who would fall under "most unforgettable."

THat's interesting. With such a chanced meeting with her, happening twice in a day, i believe both of u will somehow contact each other again. For my experience, the foreigner i met was a french. As i was working in a french cafe before, he happens to be a regular customer, and he offered to teach me french, whenever he comes by. I'm really gladful for his kind gestures, but it's just too bad i didn't managed to pick up much before i quit for other jobs.

What a shame!I really lost the e-mail address list,I can never get in touch with her.Your French friend is so helpful to you,why not keep his e-mail address or phone number? You are a little ungrateful,I think.lol

Well I've been in Singapore last May 2010. And what I know is that all people are so approachable and we never expected that they are so friendly. People have the same attitude which is want to know more friends. The people that marks me so much is that when I met my cousin last day and we have a chance to talked with each other and have some bonding moment. This is our very first time to see and talk. Because they are living in other country. Good day! God bless!

I met an Italian guy two years ago, a doctor and 4 years younger than my age.We went along fine, had a long distance relationship but it only lasted for 6 months. We were both busy, we lacked communication so the relationship went to nowhere.Few months back he came in for a surprise visit and started reconnecting. But right now, that is how far it goes for the meantime. What's important we are starting to be friends again. :)

When I teaching in an English Language Institute, I had a student - a 40-something woman. She had been a missionary for many years already, and that maybe explains why she remained unmarried. She is a Korean, and because of her work, she has traveled to a lot of countries aiming to spread the word of God. It has been around 6 years since we last saw each other, but we still get to keep in touch through email. She left an impression on me because of her dedication to her chosen mission in life.

I met many foreign tourists here but one foreigner that I can't really forget is an old Polish priest who has been residing half of his life in my country. What makes him unique from the other foreigners is that he speaks the local dialects without flaws. And his memory is classic. He can identify and name the parents of people he met for the first time just by looking at the person's face.
