double posting issue

I just started a new discussion in astronomy called ''do you like watching the stars?'' but before that I had opened another window in which I had originally chosen 'science' as category. When I came to the point where you can enter the tags I thought there may also be a category astronomy. So I opened a new window and posted the topic in astronomy. However, I neither pushed the tags nor the skip buttons in the other window. So I thought that this wouldn't be a problem. But obviously when I clicked the tags button in the second window both discussions were started. Unfortunately I'm not able to delete the discussion in the science category. I hope admins will take care of it.

GAA, can you explain what happens with this double posting? I know that, very often, it's a problem with the connection - and generally a slow one, which is down to the user's ISP - but sometimes seems to be a problem with the MyLot server (I very often get a blank page when reporting and 'resend' by refreshing the page/tab. I never know whether you receive two copies of the report or not!).

i just recently learned that you can use the "exclamation point" that you see in your discussion and you can add a comment that you want the duplicate deleted. admin will take care of it.. it happened to me too!

This is what I was going to tell you. It is okay. A screen will come up, and you just explain what went on. "Hi, this is a duplicate post, please delete it."

This happens sometimes. I have had double and triple posts when my browser hangs. It can happen on your responses and comments as well. I have had as many as five one time. But it is more likely to just be two.

I don't really think they are that strinct about what category a given discussion is put under here. It is more to do with the type of content. If I am not sure I just put my discussion under Questions and Answers or something along those lines. It seems to work pretty well for me.

You're lucky that's the only double post you've done. I've been leaving a lot of them and most, I'm not aware of.
