Pausing part of a site, have you ever heard of that?

I've heard of sites being temporarily down for repairs or updates, but pausing, that's news to me. Alchemy on Etsy in being "paused" for now. The "pause" was since February 5th. That's a long time for repairs, updates, etc. I think it might be because many people were breaking the rules. But I miss alchemy. People came up with some interesting requests like snake walking sticks, custom made wedding bands with a symbol the bride, groom, or both made, or other ideas they had. But the ones that violated the rules were often asking for things that would violate copyright laws or for really cheap versions of things that are already out ther (which is probably also a violation). So they may be trying to figure out how to stop such requests. Many were found and deleted. But some may have gotten by and could be a danger to a site that is supposed to be for creativity and originality. So do you know of any sites that are updating, going through repairs, or pausing? Do you miss the site or the part of the site? What changes do you think they're making or hope they're making? Why do you think they're doing it?
