Less than 24 hours and I have 31 emails in my spam folder!

Do you get a lot of spam? I hate it that if I have an email address for any amount of time, before long I start to get spam. First it's a trickle, and then it multiplies into a flood. If I'm three days away from the internet, it's up to ninety something emails in my spam folder. But I simply quickly browse the list to make sure nothing is in there by mistake, and then check "all delete". I don 't let it get to me because I do not want to change my email address! But it still irks me just a little! Do people actually make money using spam? Or do most people just throw it all away like I do?

I usually delete spam e-mails and I do hope I could blocked them permanently, but they may just change their e-mail address. It is very annoying especially those who are offering you to give million of dollars or the one telling you you've won a huge amount of money where in fact you did not join any raffle.

I seriously wonder why they even waste their time sending it out!

I throw it all away and am so glad that my email program puts it over to spam before I even see it

I get lots of junk mails every day. Yes, it's pretty annoying. Most of the mails that I receive are marketing mails, sent by individuals and companies promoting their businesses. I delete them all, except for a very few items that catch my interest. But, that is very rare though.

I used to get alot more that I do now. It does depend on what email you use too. And mine has cut down considerably because I go into afew of them and see if there is a place down at the bottom where you can delete your accout or email address from their list. I do this every once in awhile and my spam mail has cut down alot. And I make sure that everyone I want to hear from is in my contacts list so they should come in my regular mail and not the spam mail.

No need to change your main e-mail address, just get another one or two. There are plenty of free webmail programs -- Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail. Use that e-mail address for signing up or registering at sites that may be suspect for sending spam. If you sign up for e-mail updates, use another address. If you post your address or contact info on a website or blog, use another address specifically for that purpose. You won't stop the spam, but you can relegate most of the junk to another e-mail account and help stop the hassling at an e-mail you use for family and friends or business. Apparently yes, people do make money sending spam. Out of the millions of spam messages sent, it only takes a small percentage of people responding to make a profit. They say a sucker is born every minute. And believe it or not, all you need is some spam software that will do the dirty work for you. BUT, should anyone think of going into business for themselves, it is against the law and if caught, you will be prosecuted and no mercy to spammers. That's why so much spam comes from some other country.

Do not open any spam e-mails. Do not give your e-mail address to untrusted websites. And yes they make money with spam e-mails but if people open them. If you delete all spam e-mails do not afraid then they will not send more spams.

I do pretty much the same as you. Every time you visit a site on the internet and I mean EVERY TIME, the site you visit leaves a cookie. The next thing you know is you will receive spam mail that is somehow linked to that cookie and the site you visited. Surfing the net, or just using it means you get spam. It should not be allowed at all. Cookies that behave that way should also be illegal.

I guess they make money or they wouldn't be doing it, but to me it is like theft because time is money and you and I have to waste some time throwing it away.

I think most people throw it away but the spammers are counting on that 1% or so that fall for their drivel. They make enough money that way to live a good life but I wouldn't want their afterlife or consequences in this life, as the spam is usually a scam. I wasn't getting a lot of spam for a long time until someone sent me a link I just couldn't pass up--no exe file so no virus but the laugh I got from that site was not worth the spam that started piling up in my inbox! Likewise, the same thing happened in my personal email box I use for family and real life friends and now that is being spammed, too.

I don't like it either like the other day I had to go into my email and their was so much spam, but I got rid of it quickly who likes spam anyway I always found it to be a bit of an annoyance, but oh well that's life. I am pretty sure that everybody gets spam and if their is somebody that doesn't get spam then they are very lucky.

It seems to be pretty common thing to receive loads of spam mail. I do as you I check what's come in my spam folder before I delete them. Most of the spam is in my point of view safe mails. So I do not opened them. If I know the sender I can open a mail, which has come to the spam folder. Email has increased much as a informational source to reach people. If people make money on sending out spam, I do not know. But probably they do or eitherwise it would not be big loads of spam mails.

I have had my share and believe it or not it, many come unintentionally from friends. One example is a friend sending a *mass* email just to her friends over a cute e-card and a *forward this to* type message. When she sent it she did not use the BBC option (blind carbon copy) which hides the remaining, multiple recipients. I have *taught* this to 2 friends already which has helped and just being careful of websites and signing up for things helps curb getting too many.
