I love spaghetti. I could eat it 3 times a day and not get fed up. My paternal grandparents were Italians and my nonna taught me how to make spaghetti sauce and meatballs the Italian way. She had me help her also when she was making pasta. Yes she was making her own pasta. Nothing store-bought for her. I make my own pasta sometimes when I have the time. I always have tomato sauce ready. I always have some cooked pasta in the fridge lol. Lately though, Ive noticed that when I eat pasta, I get a rash on my hands after. Its itchy and red. I cant believe that I wont be able to eat it anymore Its going to kill me if I cant eat my spaghetti!! Does anyone know what I can do to not get a rash. I need help. I cant stop eating pasta but it itches like crazy!! HELP??

You need to determine if it is the pasta or the sauce that is causing your rash. if it is the sauce it could be one of the herbs or spices or it could be tomato puree that causes you to have a reaction. In that case you would just eliminate the offending substance. If you are allergic to the pasta you may need to buy some made with rice flour or with buckwheat.

So sorry I couldnt answer sooner. I can eat the pasta, so its not that. Ive made dishes with tomato paste and juice and no rash. So now Im down to some herbs and spices that I use in my sauce only. Ive made some and didnt used those herbs and spices. Fingers crossed it works. Thanks for your answer!!

Thanks for having your fingers crossed GG, it helped. It was that mixture of herbs and spices that I was using before. Its not itchy, no rash. YAY, Im so happy!! Now I need to find out whats in that mixture so I know exactly the herb or spice that Im allergic to. It'll be a long process but I know I'll find the guilty one! Thanks !!

Spaghetti for me - Spaghetti among others
Of course you can still eat spaghetti. Just examine your ingredients. Surely one of the ingredients cause you that allergic reaction. Of course you don't like to live without spaghetti so you must diligently search for that ingredient that cause you rashes. I myself do love spaghetti. Even at home and even in restaurants I prefer eating spaghetti. I can survive with just spaghetti.

Pastene tomatoes - Im not allergic to this brand
Oh my, the picture you posted.....now I want to eat spaghetti . I think I found what the problem is. The tomatoes I was using. I tried another brand and it seems to be ok now. Its the same ingredients in both the tomatoes, but maybe it has to do with some pesticide they used for one brand of tomatoes. I guess I'll never know. For now, I'll keep using the Pastene brand.

I bet it's the sauce, try using a white sauce or cheese sauce instead of the tomatoe sauce usually used. Good luck.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Yes it has to be the sauce. I can eat plain pasta no problem. I know its not the tomato juice or paste, so now Im down to some herb mix that I use. I made some last night and didnt use that mix. My fingers are crossed. I cant eat cheese so its tomato sauce or olive oil only for me. Thanks for your answer!!

Do you know what you are specifically allergic too? Maybe it's just an herb that you can replace easily? You should ask your doctor to check for you.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. No Im not sure as of yet what is the guilty ingredient. I know its not the pasta, I know its not the tomatoes or the juice or the paste. Now Im down to the herbs. There is a mix of herbs that I use only in my sauce, so I made some last night without that mix. Fingers crossed it works!! Thank you for replying!

you should try to consult a doctor first.the doctor will help you determine whether the rashes are caused by the pasta, the sauce,or the meat/seafood in the sauce.maybe you have allergies on certain food types.take note of when you ate pasta, when the rashes showed up,and how long the rashes stays on your skin.

I think its the sauce that triggers your allergy. Could it be that you changed the brand of the sauce you're using? If so, go back to the old brand. I bet this wont start your allergy. I love spaghetti too and I know how you feel not being able to eat it. Have a good day.
