Hello friends, Before I start a new discussion, I usually check if there are any similar discussion in the past... I come across few of them which are 2 to 5 years old with very few responses... I have 2 questions ... Can I start a new discussion on similar topics as it is old (will my discussion get deleted) or can I respond to those discussions? Is it really worth responding to a 2 to 5 year old discussions? Your useful thoughts please.

Start a new one. It doesn't hurt. I personally see the interest to respond. So I guess, new responses will come in. Cheers.

I would suggest first trying to respond to the "old" post. If you respond and don't get any other responses and it's something you really want to discuss then I say you could go ahead and try to start a new discussion.

If there is already a discussion then respond there ibnstead of starting a new one. You will still earn, regardless of how old the original topic is. Why start a new one which would not be original?

I have responded to old discussions, even though, the discussion starter may have left or hasn't commented back. I know I will earn no matter how old the discussions is, and if if the discussion started doesn't comment back, I still earn. I will respond to any discussion that interests me, and most of the time I don't pay attention to the age of the discussion. So, to answer your question, it is worth responding as I know I can still contribute to the discussion. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Hello Vasugi, If you want to respond to a 2 or 5 years old discussion, just do it. Your effort will be rewarded as if the discussion was a few minutes one. But what if you want to know something, the subject was already discussed but you can't find the answer that satisfy your need in that old discussion? I don't think there are too many chances to find your answers within a 5 year discussion. Many of the users who participated in that discussions may not be here any more. In such case I think all you can do is to start a new discussion, being careful that your new discussion sounds different from the old one.

That's a valid point.. I also had another doubt that there are just few responses on the old discussions and may be few of them might have left mylot by this time, and you never know I can get a better response now because of the increase in mylot users.. anyways I will try to keep my discussion as different as possible, in case I fail I better respond to it and still get rewarded.. Thanks for your inputs my friend..

Because these discussions have been around for so very long already, they stand far less chance of getting deleted than one you would take such a lot of time & effort to create yourself. If you have something to say, then just say it without expecting others to respond. If it's useful to someone or helps them in some way, then they might respond or maybe even rate you higher without responding or even send you a friend request if you have written something or in a way which interests them. I've responded to many such topics this way. You never know what's around the corner! It can be quite a character-building exercise. Give yourself a good record with as many quality posts as possible - interesting, informative, enlightening & helpful. Others will see this when they search your profile & recognize you as being truly worth their while. It's much faster to search for an old topic that interests you than to scroll through thousands of current, hot & happening topics. And because they have very little chance of being deleted, is more worth your while to post there than in something current & risky. I occasionally search through the "no response" section to find topics of interest there as well. The rewards are greater then too & you stand an excellent chance of being awarded a "best response" even if the topic opener doesn't leave a reply. Welcome to My Lot & good on you for checking for similar discussions before posting yours.

The information you have shared is quite useful my friend and may be as you said I can try different things to find out topics and how exciting to see when someone mark your response as the best one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts I will definitely try doing as different as you did :-)

Why not? I just come here to enjoy discussing topics I like, and don't worry too much about much else.. Except to seek to never be rude or anything..

If you have something new to discuss in a topic, and it would work better as a new topic, then you should go ahead and start the new topic. Just be sure to make it unique to you. As others have said, you will be paid for responding to any discussion that is still up, so you might as well respond, and put good quality into it. The MyLot community enjoys reading different points of view. I have had people respond to some of my oldest discussions and when I receive notifications about their responses I almost always go comment back to them.

I guess you had so much to get from the respondents here, but allow me share mine. It is fine to respond to discussion which posted few years back if you feel its relevance and you really have ideas or something worthwhile to share with.

I have accidently responded on some really old discussions sometimes! lol! It really won't matter as far as i know it might help it get back into ciruclation. If you start a discussion that it too similar though it will be deleted. You can choose a similar topic as long as it's not a duplicate.

in my view it is worth it. when you use search engines and those links can help answering people's questions then you could say it doesnt matter that much as long as you give your best shot in answering the question or the concern.

Hi vasugi! Yes, it is worth to respond those discussions as I always do the same thing like that. For creating similar discussion it is much better for you to change the way you describe the discussion in order to avoid your discussion get deleted.Otherwise it is better for you to just give responds to those old discussions.

No matter when it is discussion, 1,2 or 5 years, you are rewarded for any response. Seeking discussion "payment"of our friend thanks1961,and there you will clarifying, and I had the same doubt, and then looking in the engine and answer questions and 5 years ago.Worth it, believe me, you can have the luck to get and how many reward!

I think you shouldn't post similar question as before .but you can answer the old questions if only you like them and want to express your ideas.
