Last night I was studying and in the background 60 minutes was on. They were investigating a bogus stem cell research doctor..well...not even a real doctor that was offering people with debilitating diseases hope. Great right? No..the truth is that stem cell research is still so new that even the top scientists really don't know the potential of it, but they know there is no limit that has been reached that could offer people the hope this crook was offering. He was taking the money from the suffering who wanted to believe him so much. He told them that with his stem cell treatment that they could expect to walk again. This guy had no morals and I could not imagine being so cold. What was he thinking? Anyway..it really bugged me. He even had a fake license! When was the last time that something really bugged you? Did it make you plain old mad or did you want to cry?

I didn't see the show, but that would p*ss me off too. I've seen so much lately that just bugs me, I don't even know where to start. To name one, the games being played in Washington, D.C., and even Wisconsin and I don't live there. Closer to home...trying to refinance my home. I apparently don't make enough money to refinance my home to a lower rate (and save $500-$600/month), but I make enough to pay the higher rate/monthly payment? And I can't modify the loan, because I've never missed a payment or been late. I'm caught in nowhere land... And I've cried over that one...

That's crazy! They just see a way to keep making that money off the ones that have been able to struggle through the BS.

I've been doing ok. Hanging in there too...lol...I have been trying to fix my house up a bit to get enough equity so I can maybe try for a lower payment too. The thing is...the house is just not worth the same as it was because of the economy. I don't need as much as I first did to pay it off but I can't get the payments and time period I want unless I update a few things.

I've been struggling through the b.s., and it has cost me, but I still haven't had a resolution. I'll keep trying until the last plan fails... Hope you're doing ok.

The people that do this are unconchenable(sp). THe last time that something really bugged me like this was the cell phone thing where a young woman caused five other cars to collide because she chose to talk on the phone instead of paying attention to what she was supposed to be doing. THis makes me so mad. Some people are so selfish.

People can be very selfish! I mean..it's not like we all aren't suffering enough without some crook stepping in and making it worse. Or someone that thinks they are too good to wreck when they aren't paying attention. Sometimes I wonder what it takes.

Last thing that made me really mad in the news was when a guy kidnapped his ex-girlfriend's 4 year old son. A week or so later, they found the guy's vehicle in a canal, and then the child's body. Later they found the man's body. He should have just killed himself, and left the poor child alone.

I know! It's not like they don't make enough anyway to take care of three families. I make it on a lot less in a year than some of them make in a month. I just can't understand how they can prey on people that want to live or people that are in pain. Thanks for responding. I've missed you..have you been ok?

I cannot fathom how some minds work! It must be true that some individuals have no conscience otherwise they would not be getting any sleep at night. We had a story here not too long ago about a woman who had cancer and believed another who claimed to be a healer and promised to take away her terminal cancer for a very hefty fee. The criminal made the poor ‘patient’ drink all sorts of rubbish concoctions that of course never worked and the lady passed away within months. Her family was outraged because this poor excuse of a human being talked the sick woman into cutting out all medical treatment and no longer see doctors. How much lower can an individual get? I hope they’ve thrown away the key...

I hope so too. It is the lowest of low that prey on the sick and weary. Often times the "treatments" lead to early deaths and even a more painful being. Such a shame. Thanks for the response.

That is a horrible thing to do. Taking advantage of those who are sick and vulnerable is one of the cruellest things that people can do! What drives people to be so greedy and uncaring? I guess what really makes me mad right now is the way that big chemical companies are controlling the world through our food and medicine. Firstly companies like Monsanto are so powerful with their ties to the government that they are destroying the lives of innocent organic farmers and the whole organic industry by spreading GM crops throughout the world without care a for the consequences. People are eating these foods without realising it as they are NOT required to state on food packaging that the foods contain Genetically modified food. No one knows what sort of health impacts these foods will have on people long term! They are also responsible for the pollution of the world and the killing of soil by over use of their pesticides and herbicides. These crops are designed to be heavy sprayed with chemicals such as roundup and pesticides without dying. All the weeds and insects around the crops die, but so do al the micro organisms in the soil. There are more living micro organisms in a tablespoon of healthy organic soil than there are people on the planet! These are what provide the nutrients to all plant life. So, in most mainstream foods, you get very little nutrition. This of course leads you to being unwell most of the time and relying on medication or vitamins from these companies that control this whole chemically imbalanced system. It is a big scam that people need to be aware of. That is my little rant. I could go on and on about it all day, but I will save it for a few discussions I think.

That is a great rant! I think that more people need to be aware of such things...who else will tell them..the chemical companies? Nope...anyway...I think that if one person realizes..that is one more person in the world and that often means many more. I think I read that for every one person you tell..at least 10 will be told..imagine that here. Thanks!!!

It is definitely more easy to "tell" people these days due to the internet. These figures that you read make sense and should rise with the more people that are getting online these days.

Most of the time when I see things like this it makes me angry. I will admit when it is something that has to do with little kids it brings tears to my eyes. Everywhere you look there are people who are willing to exploit others for their own personal gain. It seems like lately humanity in general has only went down hill.

I saw part of this show and felt the same that you did. DISCUST more than anything else that these non-humans would use people and their money for their own gain. I DO KNOW that some stem cell is successful and know of a family whose little boy is trying to get to Japan or China for a stem cell procedure that will give him sight, that he has NOT had in his 3 young years, as well helping other complications he experiences. It has been performed on another child and was effective. The problem is that the couple is very young and does not have the money to pay for the trip there and the things they would need while there. The operation will NOT have to be paid for by them since they were accepted by something that does it for those in need. Anytime I see/read/hear of, abuse to any child in any way, I am totally discusted and some of the stories can make me cry. and want to lash out at whoever is responsible.

Hi. JenInTN. That is why I am so skeptical about trusting doctors that say they can give a cure to a condition. He is a low life, that has nothing better else to do than to manipulate, destroy and hurt others. This is very mean of him. I feel so bad for the people that he has used. He needs to be placed into jail to where he can't see the sun shine anymore! I was sad just the other day. My first cousin will not accept my friend request. I could not understand how she has accepted so many friends on Facebook, and when I asked her about accepting me, she just left me on the pending status. I simply wrote her an email message that was very polite. I asked her if everything was okay. I told her that I have been awaiting her friend request for several months. She claims that she has never gotten any of my messages and that she does did not recognize my photo and all. Now, I have a real picture of me on Facebook, and I wonder why she still has not accepted my friend request. So, a couple of days ago, I canceled my friend request to her. I felt like she did not want to be my friend. She had me on pending status for a couple of days at least. This bugged me because she is my cousin. Her dad and my dad are fraternal twin brothers.

That is odd. I wonder why she is being that way? Were you close before? I'm sorry that you were sad..I can see why you would be. Don't worry though...the real loss is hers. You seem like a great person and she is the one missing out. I know it's easier said than done, but don't let it bother you..live your life, love your husband, and enjoy your children. Take care and thanks for responding.

Hi jen, People with such fake this are around us too. Some come with the promise or guarantee that application of his medicine would cure your disease or something this sort. Some other come with a big bag of clothing they would ask Rs. 4000 but when you show your no I do not need it mood they would give you the whole stuff less than the price they said earlier. These things are stolen ones and therefore they can sell at a lower rate.

I think that is a new low! I didn't see the 60 minutes episode, but from your description I also think it is very disturbing. It doesn't make me want to cry, but it makes me mad. That someone could stoop that low and prey on the people that are already suffering from debilitating diseases.

That doctor is looking very bad person. The people are simply betraying by him. I also have seen many experiences like them. In my locality there are many fake ayurvedic doctors are there. Actually ayurveda is the indian historical medical system. But there persons coming to villages with fake medicines, they are telling full false about them. Many people are easily betraying by them. We are also trying to motivate the people, but they are not in a position to catch my words, after betrayed they are opening their eyes.

if my wife saw that she will cry too, i know. my mother is half paralyze (as you know) so i know how the families expect too much once a study comes up. me too would love to see science make something for people so they can heal from sickness. and him fooling people with false hope, i hope someday he feels the pain that he caused. years ago there is this friend of my mother who told her to invest a big amount of money in a business that is in the province. this friend of my mother pursued her and told my mother that after 3 years her money will be doubled or tripled. my mother invested a sum of money and after 3 years past nothing happened. until after a few years of promise again and nothing happened. when my mother got paralyzed that friend came to visit but still asking for money to invest. i dont want to scream at her, but i warned my mom before and never listened to me. i guess my mom has a few of not so good friends.

It's easy to get a "not so good" friend. It seems these cons are laying in the shadows just waiting to strike. They know just what to say. I thought about the people like your mother and your family that would love to have some type of hope that a family member would be cured. It's a shame that there are people that prey on hope.

First, I'd like to say hello, neighbor. I noticed from your profile that you live in Morristown, Tennessee. So do I. You're the first person I've come across on here(that I know of) that lives in Morristown. So, again, hello. In response to your discussion, that is pretty sad. There are a lot of crooked people out there and many people are none the wiser. This is especially true when it comes to politicians. I think just about all of them are crooked. There are a few I like but I'm not ready to fully trust them. Of course I don't think I ever should. It really makes me mad, and I guess, in some ways, sad when I think about all the underhanded, back door deals they make to push their own agendas instead of governing according to the Constitution. I'm no expert on politics but I know what freedom is and I know that many of the policies that are supported by our politicians only restrict our freedoms rather than protect them. When I think of all the unnecassary taxes that are levied on us, or the government bailouts, the government takeover of certain businesses and banks all in the name of saving the economy, and the talk of more government regulations in every area of our lives, it really gets under my skin. The politicians don't have the right to wield that kind of power over the people. I certainly haven't given them that right. But, I guess what's sad about all of it is that so many people have, for so many years, been brainwashed, to a point, into believing that they should turn to Washington to fix all the country's problems. It's not the job of the government to fix our problems. What has happened to the idea of personal accountability? I know that being accountable for your own mistakes can be frightening, sometimes, but that's what freedom is. Freedom is responsibility. It seems that when the economy goes south we turn to Washington and ask, "what are you gonna do to fix it?" It's not the government's job to fix the economy. In fact, their attempts to "fix" the economy do more harm than good. A free market economy works when the government stays out of it. That's the way a free market economy is supposed to work. When the government gets involved it eventually leads to socialism. And socialism doesn't work. Anyway, I better stop before I really get angry and use some words that would not be appropriate on here. Thank you for presenting me the opportunity to vent a little. LOL

Wow...really? You are the first person that I have met who lives in Morristown too. I have made a wonderful friend or two here that lives in Tennessee, but they are close to the Nashville area. It is very nice to meet you. As far as venting...lol...we all need it and you are more than welcome. I think there are things in this world that can really pull at the heart strings and then there are those that just burn us up. Abuse of freedom is certainly one that gets me going too..lol. Freedom comes with a cost and that cost is/should be being accountable as well as enjoying it's benefits. As far as the economy..that's another monster. In many ways...it has been coming for quite some time.People have become spoiled and credit was a way of life. Everyone wanted everything right then and were allowed to borrow even when the financial instititutions and/or the people requesting knew good and well they couldn't afford it. That ridiculous little wheel that determines eligibility. Then everyone has to pay for it. Even those of us who didn't put as much stock into that credit scheme. That was my rant for the day too. Thanks for the input and it's great to see a neighbor!

It saddens me a lot when people rip people off like this. They usually think the people are rich enough to not mess with them too much to give up a lot of money and sometimes they don't care because they are so selfish. What they don't realize when they are thinking that the people have lots of money and won't miss it is that some people don't have that much money and they give there money that they were going to spend on something else that they needed a lot but they thought that was more important. Real sad.

This guy full well knew these people were desperate. There was one couple that sold their home in hopes that the wife would be cured. Your right about the assumptions..sometimes even though someone has a lot of material things, it's just a sign that they have no money..they've spent it or are in debt for what they have. Thanks for responding.
